It took Freddy 5 months to make adjustments and I still don't trust him at all. He had like 3 or 4 starts in September that saved his season from looking like a total disaster. Mark absolutely stunk the 2nd half of last season but I see no reason why he wont bounce back. He's easily the better long term commitment imo.

I think Freddy made ajustments all year, thats why he hung around games and got some wins. MB didnt do anything and got rocked a lot of the time.

As for Freddy Sept, they will still in it and that proved even more to me.

Rotoworld:

Phillies GM Pat Gillick is reportedly willing to send Aaron Rowand and either Ryan Madson or Gavin Floyd to the White Sox for Freddy Garcia.

It'd be a fair trade for both teams. We prefer the White Sox's side -- both Mark Buehrle and Javier Vazquez are more valuable properties than Garcia in our eyes -- but the Phillies probably wouldn't lose all that much going from Rowand to Shane Victorino.

How is Mark streaky? He's had one bad season and that was last year. Mark is younger and has better career numbers, how is Freddy better?

Buehrle didn't have one bad season, he had an All-Star half followed by a very poor half.

IMO, much of Buehrle's second-half struggle was caused by fatigue from the IP thrown in 2005's Championship season.

I'm a fan of Aaron Rowand, but I don't want him back. Anderson is cheap and good, so we don't need a center fielder. I'd prefer KW turn our extra starter into a LF or SS, the team's two positions most in need of upgrade.

I actually trust that Garcia will magically find his 92 mph fastball again during his FA year. On the other hand, unless the Phillies are offering Rollins, Howard or Hamels, I really hope KW puts down the phone. We can do much better than some crappy 4th outfielder and a medicore pitcher.

I've been saying this for a while. I'm am, by no means, a Garcia fan. But, it looks to me like he's the guy most likely to put up a stellar year. If the team is confident that he has regained his fastball, I would keep his around. He has improved his control and added a splitter. Also, he might hit free agency at the end of the year, so he'll be pitching for a contract. All of that adds up, in my mind, to a big f***ing season from Freddy Garcia.

And I'd like to ride out that hot hand.

The Sox only pay Approx $7.2 M for Thome?

Close. The deal is they pay him only $8M per year, with the Phils kicking in the rest. There is an option on his contract in a couple of years and reportedly there is also an gentleman's agreement in place for the Phils to kick in money on the option year as well.

Yeah. The Phills got jobbed in that trade. Yes they needed to get Howard in there, but Thome was worth more. Especially if you're going to pay for half of his contract.

How much do we get from the D-Backs?

5/65 mil sounds great but correct me if i am wrong but doesn't jr and the whole sox organization shy away from giving pitchers no more then 3 year deals? if that is the case a 3/39-40 mil a year with a couple of team options sounds good to me.

Yes, the organization does tend to try to go for a 3 year deal. But Mark Buehrle has absolutely zero reason to accept a 3 year deal when all he has to do is stay healthy and have an average Mark Buehrle season next year to be looking at scoring 5-6 years at $15 mil or more per year (depending on what Zito gets) if he hits the FA market.

We should get more than this in return...Rowand was my hero with his defense and attitude, but I cringed every time he whiffed horribly (116 times) during that season and saw his offensive production take a huge dip, and what we need is bullpen depth, a upgrade at leadoff or shortstop, and some more talent in the farm system, this trade seems like a waste of an oppurtunity to address our bigger needs

SS likely will be upgraded with progression to the means.

Otherwise, I completely agree.
