But it's the only way ... we need nationalized cars, energy, healthcare, construction, banks ... starting to sound a bit like China or USSR of old.

Scary, only 37% of people under 30 support capitalism, while 33% support socialism. The other 30% is apparently clueless.

Is there an article about this? That'd be a nice read. I'll continue looking for it though.

But yeah this was talked about in the Dem thread already. From the article it looks like "socialism" and "capitalism" are just poorly defined, people still say they support a free market by something like 70%. If I had to guess for a reason I would say it's because the GOP is doing a lot of ranting and other nonsensical things but not bothering to explain why what they're saying is good and why the alternative is bad (other than them saying so).

The worst part is that tax collections nationwide are crashing even faster than what was projected. The deficit this year is going to be so scary. Then comes the massive tax increases that we will need to "pay" for all of this. Just wait.

So what you are saying is that all of the budgets proposed by these brain trusts will underestimate tax revenue this year? Shocking. Just raise taxes some more to make up the difference......Oh wait we just did that....well raise them again....Didn't Urkel just say last week that you have to pick on a group small enough not to hurt you politically? .

Wait until the GDP forecasts for the Federal Budget are blown out of the water. But we will still here, "Look how many jobs we saved" even though there is no way to quantify this assinine idea.

I think it's also worth noting here that you really don't have much of a choice BUT to cheer for the president when you're in the military, it doesn't really matter who it is. If you don't like him that's fine, but you better damn well hide it in a situation like that.

i saw a hilarious story in some tabloid at the supermarket a couple weeks ago. the big story was "Soldier doesn't support Obama!". there was some picture of a random soldier in his gear, scowling. don't know why, but i thought it was hilarious. this random dude is a big story for the tabloid.

Eh, put this here rather than the Blago thread.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s camp was told last year that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) would raise up to $5 million in campaign cash for the ex-governor if he was appointed to President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

The overture came from at least two members of the local Indian community who approached the Blagojevich fund-raising team last fall, sources say.

Besides the $5 million to be raised by Jackson, the proposal also included another $1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign fund that would come from Indian donors, sources say.

This is the first revelation that a proposal for the Jackson appointment involved an alleged promise that he’d raise campaign cash for the ex-governor.

Also, the amount of money allegedly offered to Blagojevich is significantly higher than what’s been reported so far.

Sources did not disclose what role, if any, Jackson played in authorizing the offers to Blagojevich. Jackson has denied allowing anyone to make pay-to-play offers to the governor on his behalf. The congressman has been interviewed by authorities but has not been accused of wrongdoing.

Details at link.

Hmmmm. Seems to me the media would be all over W if/when he did this. But, this time its different.....

and of course RedState.com always has 100% reliable and unbiased reporting?

If you track the links, RedState links to TheMinorityReportBlog (reliability of this site?), which gets its info from Floppingaces.net (a site I've never heard from) who gets it's info from an unnamed source.

Great reliable reporting if you ask me.

And I get ripped for referencing the HuffingtonPost. At least they do some actual journalism instead of linking through different blogs.

lol I don't even know why that would attract someone's attention. The military probably has a 2:1 ratio of Republicans to Democrats and there are plenty of people that hate Obama although it's pretty subdued at my job from most people.

There was some soldier who was going to refuse to obey orders from Obama because of that whole "forged BC! Secret Kenyan Muslim!!!!!!" tin-foil-hattery stuff. My guess is that ends in a court martial.

Crazy internet blog with a WND article on the topic

huffpo doesn't do any original reporting

Depending on how you define original reporting, don't they actually do at least some? They're not the NY Times, but they do employ legitimate reporters. They have a WH Correspondent, for example. I'm not sure who does more, them vs. TPM, but it's not zero.

employs commentary at best. I've never heard of a phone call made or documents found on huffpo the way numerous other web sites (atlantic, tpm, etc.) do. The short read f***s the world over. f*** them.

Ok, this is something of a public service announcement for everyone's benefit - I understand conservatives protesting high taxes and having "tea parties," but please don't go talking about how you're about to go out "Tea Bagging" because that has a very different meaning than it had in 1776.

Just saw someone say that and I felt like I had to get that out there.
