southsider2k5
johnsickels @MinorLeagueBall 4m Prospect of the Day: Conor Gillaspie, 3B, Chicago White Sox. Is he really coming out of nowhere? http://sbn.to/ZORa4w
Cali
Pretty much the only reason to tune into the game for me.
hogan873
I hope they find a way to keep him in the lineup once Beckham comes back.
Eminor3rd
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) I hope they find a way to keep him in the lineup once Beckham comes back. Yeah, me too. If they keep digging themselves into this hole over the next few weeks, the development of guys like Gillaspie will have toi become a bigger priority than winning this year, so it's possible. Eminor3rd
Yeah I'd be alright if he just manages 300-400 ABs this year, honestly. I, too, wonder about Viciedo -- if Konerko hints at retirement later this year, it might make sense to start getting Viciedo used to 1B. I guess Keppinger could move to LF in that case, unless Jordan Danks becomes good somehow. Realistically though, Gillaspie and Keppinger make a very natural platoon. They both have a history of issues with same-handed pitchers.
napa_soxfan
Pulling for him since spring training. Got to see a few games in AZ and thought he looked like a good natural hitter. Liked the no batting gloves too. How b*tching would it be if he turned into a Michael Young-like player?
caulfield12
Want to see no part of Keppinger in the outfield...
Balta1701
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 04:11 PM) Want to see no part of Keppinger in the outfield... There would be plenty of at bats for him moving around the infield and giving each IF a day off every week.

If he plays anything like has been, it might be Gordo trying to get back into the line up.

The only way you do that is if you have zero intention on bringing Beckham back next season.

Yeah, especially as well as he hit before he got hurt.
ShandyMan
There is no way Gillaspie is not in the lineup when Beckham comes back if he keeps producing

A wrist break is not an easy injury to come back from in terms of being baseball ready. He'll lose some strength that has to be built back up, then spend some time in Charlotte getting back to normal...what's a realistic return? Mid-July would be my guess. A broken wrist is different than a broken/chipped off hamate bone. Late June would be a better guess.
