SuperSteve
Abreu makes like $12...he is also better than Aaron. Why would either team do that? It's Polanco too.

Abreu makes $13.1M & Polanco makes $4.6M. Rowand makes $2M. Where are we getting the $15.1M to complete this trade? It's more likely we would get Lofton in the deal. But even then we are still $5.6M short. Would they be willing to eat salary to get Ozuna? I doubt it. To get Polanco we are likely going to have to give up Everett. But they have Burrell & Abreu at the corner OF pos so I'm not sure they'd want him. Polanco has over 2/3rd's as many bat as Bell so it's not like they aren't finding playing time for him. Jabroni
Ricky Gutierrez is available... http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/transactions/index.jsp 4/5/05 Seattle Mariners Released nonroster INF Ricky Gutierrez. If Uribe is going to miss an extended period of time, I would take a flier on him. I don't think either Ozuna or Willie could handle the full-time shortstop duties. iWiN4PreP
True... I guess... it just seems like we get no1 "top playerlike" who can do it all like abreau / arod / pujols / beltran can. but mayb im just being a retard, and asslicking those players to much. i just love players who can do it all like they can, and the sox dont seem to have much of that for past decades. (other then frank thomas. who still couldnt do it all {steal} )

So even if he did see an opertunity to solidify this team and send them to the playoffs he will not pull the trigger unless it costs him nothing. Punch and Judy Garland
Abreu is an elite player even if you have never seen ANYONE wear an Abreu jersey in your life. I think that Philly wouldn't trade him pretty much for anyone except maybe Pujols. As far as Polanco goes, the price of the trade is just too high. The Cubs are interested now and they will help bid up the price to be unreasonable. That price is someone like B-Mac and more. We'll have to make do elsewhere

We have our share of balance at the moment, I like the team build as of now. Might we go out and get a veteran SS fairly cheap if God-forbid Uribe has to miss extended time. The guy can't even stay healthy in the minors. B-Mac is a better prospect than Guzman right now. He has great control and can stay healthy. Punch and Judy Garland
Who is a great major league pitcher they have traded away. I know about Joe Carter, Raffy, and Brock but I can't think of a pitcher they traded away. I hope you aren't referring to Jon Garland as the only "great" example. Jabroni
D-Train. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, the Flubs traded Dontrelle Willis and Julian Tavarez for Clement and Alfonseca. Clement was a good pitcher for them but they no longer have him. Alfonseca was a huge bust. Meanwhile, Dontrelle is lighting it up for the Marlins and making peanuts. Punch and Judy Garland
I guess those are pretty decent examples but I don't think that their history of pitching trades would fare all that much worse than most teams.
