whitesoxbrian
Looking at the probables pitchers for both teams on both websites, the pitching matchups will be this, followed by my predictions. Danks vs Marquis SOX 7-5 Contreras vs Lilly CUBS 4-3 Vazquez vs Dumpster SOX 5-3 Contreras vs Lilly SOX 10-7 Vazquez vs Dumpster SOX 3-1 Buehrle vs Gallagher CUBS 11-8 Your turn (don't make a smarta** post, it's just a little fun). Brian
I'm just glad we miss Zambrano both time. I hope they have no rain outs that would change that.
justBLAZE
Can't wait for the crosstown classic back to back weekends. Nice to miss Zambrano.
Brian
And I say this every year, but I would rather play the Cubs one series a year, than either Milwaukee or St. Louis the other 3 games.
whitesoxbrian
I love missing Z also, but don't we hit him well. I bet his ERA is 3.7 at the least. I know we put up 7 against him last year after AJ's granny at Wrigley, and I could have swore we scored 11 runs in a game he pitched 2 or 3 years back. Anybody have his stats against us lifetime? Brian
It's not whether we hit him well or not. I just hate him and his antics and don't want him to show up my team.

I hate him as much as the next guy, but I'd love to see him pitch against us, we rock him in like 2 innings, he can't throw a strike, and then the fans mock him, and he has another hissy fit. I would laugh so hard...
dabears32
I'm going to say the sox win 4 out of 6 from the cubs. hopefully the probables stay the same and we miss zambrano both times. I definately think we can light up lilly, gallagher, and marquis. Ryan Dempster? I still don't believe he is really as good as his record shows. Felix
I'm thinking 3-3 or 2-4. This offense is very streaky, and I doubt it will keep it up through the two Cubs series. (Oh, and if we go 2-4, I also predict the board to go insane and think that the season is over, but really, that's not much of a prediction) Edited June 7, 2008 by Felix
greg775
I predict we will see Zambrano twice. Rainout or something crazy. I think we'll go 2-4 or 1-5 vs. Cubs.
RME JICO
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 09:14 PM) I predict we will see Zambrano twice. Rainout or something crazy. I think we'll go 2-4 or 1-5 vs. Cubs. There is a vote of confidence. If we get to their starters, we can easily split if not win the 6 game series. I say 4-2. Flash Tizzle
It's about time one team sweeps the other in two separate series. Sox win all six. Obviously, there's no legitimate reason for feeling this. It'd just seem appropriate the Cubs begin their downfall after we embarrass them.
witesoxfan
I actually think Lou Piniella does understand that there is a bit of importance in the crosstown series and will attempt to align the rotation to get Zambrano facing us. Just a thought though. There's also the possibility that Piniella knows that the Sox hit good fastballs and he will leave the rotation as is. retro1983hat
Every year I can not wait for the series, this year, I am scared. Say what you will, their lineup is pretty tough this year. I do think, however, our bullpen is better. But Jenks has been making it interesting this year.
Steve9347
Regardless, I'm going to all 6 games!

TCQ
No way that ball toucher Lilly beats contreras the way hes pitching.
southsidehawkeye
Assuming the pitching matchups stay the same, we certainly have a rather large advantage there. Past Z and Dempster the Cubs rotation isn't all that scary, and we run Vaz against Demp twice (so those games are at worst a push). Our bats seem to be waking up a little and if they can keep scoring the way that we have in our current winning streak I really like our chances to do some damage to the north side. Lets get that season sweep! that'd be great. My Cub fan friends have been a little too cocky about their team this year.

WCSox
The one prediction I'll make is that neither team will sweep either of the two series. Sox/Cubs is almost always very competitive.
WSoxMatt
Lou would make sure Zambrano pitched in at least 1 if not 2 games!! Id bet a healthy sum he would shift the rotation around, like switching Z up with Gallagher
