he acquisition of Nick Swisher was rather similar to the departure of Carlos Lee. Crazy? For starters, everyone here was in a scuffle when both trades happened, there were many who hated it and many who liked it. I for one loved it.

The minute I heard we acquired Swisher I was awe struck, he has always been a player who if he struggles theres that little thing that you still like about him. He is a true character, from his dugout celebrations and personality to his hustle on the field. Maybe you haven't yet had the chance to visit his website, www.nickswisher.net, hes truly more than a ballplayer, involved with many charities and replies to his fans via email.

As a member of the Chicago White Sox, Nick has hit .231 with 16 HRs and 54 RBIs and not to mention his impressive .351 OBP. Sure, nothing that will wow you but he has helped this team in many ways and who's to say we wouldn't be where were at without him. His recent walk off HR still gives me chills when I see it.

I didn't have Nick on my list. Actually I didn't vote for anyone who is having their first year with the Sox. To me a favorite player has to grow on you. I could see Nick being a favorite in a year or two, but not yet.

I agree, the only exceptions I made were Zisk and Gamble.

That '77 team grew on a lot of people.

And it was more a sum of the parts then the parts. And perhaps it was because we knew it was a "rent a player" situation and the player wasn't renting us.

It was a fun year. The Na Na Hey Hey thing and the curtain calls started that year.

Swisher has at least had some very important hits. I can't say he's one of my favorites, though. I do think if we could squeak into the playoffs he might be one of those guys to kick ass. As of now, he sort of depresses me. His supporters keep bringing up the face he draws walks.
