  1. Giolito is having a disaster of a season. Any time Cooper wants to work his magic again, be my guess

  3. Dude what? They're not going to wait for the team to be good again before calling him up lmao how are you not a troll?

  4. Let’s be clear about the fans and “managements’” rebuild. The fans “support” this do-over because they really don’t have any other choice. The so-called “rebuild” is the one and only lifeline being thrown to the fan base as a way out of the abysmal run of baseball that has unfolded on the South Side the past decade or so. It’s the only blade of hope that the fans can cling to in hopes of breaking the 4th longest playoff drought in baseball. It’s the only option at this point to change the summer conversation around Guaranteed Rate Field from, yet again, wondering who the team will choose with their high pick in the following summer’s draft to the division race in which the team is currently in. That’s why the fans “support the rebuild”. It’s all we have at this very low point in the team’s history.

  5. ozzie being a little b**** is what got himself fired. he let his ego manage after 2006 or so. the dude won the Sox a WS and helped me through one of the darkest parts of my life (it's a father son story told though the Sox in part) , I'm not going to begrudge the guy jack shit but ffs no, just no on bringing him back. as others mentioned, he quit on the Sox. That's a cardinal sin.

  6. They showed highlights the other day of Ozzie. Now that's a baseball player. Now that's a baseball manager. Ozzie Guillen I love you!

  12. The best part about Giolito is that we can criticize him without some idiot claiming racism.

  13. Also interesting is Giolito is still one of 2 pitchers in the majors with a K/BB ratio less than 1. That is reserved for only the worst performing pitchers in the game.

  15. The only thing you're trading him for right now is another version of him. He's blocking no one. His mental makeup has never been in question, and he was actually much worse working in Charlotte last year than Chicago. He might not end up being worth a crap, but he's also 23 with a half of a major league season under his belt. I'll admit his stuff isn't what was initially advertised, but the fact that people are already writing his obituary is absurd, and frankly a waste of time.

  16. Another fantastic start for Lambert. 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 HR, 7 K, 1 BB, 63/95 strikes. Stats wise the kid is making a strong case to be the next best pitching prospect after the big four in Kopech, Hansen, Dunning, & Cease.

  25. I don't get why we continue to bat Anderson 8th. With Moncada out, just lead him off or bat him second. I want to maximize his PAs this season.

  30. I think Hahn pretty much is responsible for the process and the direction, but he has to come to JR and KW to get a final yes or no for the big things (such a changing direction for a rebuild or spending a lot of money). Again, for any person who is two levels removed from the top management in his company, this is a completely normal procedure. No one who has two levels of bosses gets to do things all on their own.

  31. Now we're questioning Hahn and Kenny's role? Oh Jesus. Sometimes this forum is like 3 topics repeated in every thread. Quick, somebody mention Hawk.

  33. I agree with this. Just like it's laughable that it would leak out Hahn always wanted to rebuild but was overruled by KW and JR. If it was true, it being leaked would not be considered very loyal, and RH would be looking elsewhere. I It's time people just realize RH, JR and KW are in agreement.

  34. Here's a quote from Hahn a few days ago: “We want to see more effective use of the changeup in the coming starts,” Hahn said, “as well as ideally going deeper in ballgames over the next several.” So you would have to ask yourself, what changed?

  35. We're actually up to 38 now, with Year 38 all set to look like 32 of it's 37 predecessors, meaning NO PLAYOFF APPEARANCE FOR THE WHITE SOX.

  36. Eloy has about 150 PA in AA and he has like a 330/400/600 slash line. If you include his 100 or so PA in the DWL (usually considered AA-AAA level) he's basically produced at like a 180 wRC+ level over his last 250 PA at that level. As I said in the other thread, he's ready to come up and hit 260/320/480 now. It's only a matter if they want to keep him out of Super 2, which IMO shouldn't really be a concern. There's no way they can keep him down all year and extend that service time out to next year, not without seriously pissing him off IMO and perhaps poisoning the relationship the Sox have with him.

  42. Unlikely, but not ridiculous. If the Sox go 4-14 the next 18 before they’ve played one game against the Indians, I think they have it in them. .360 ball the rest of the season gets them at 56-106. There are three teams that could lose 100+ this year, and probably will.

  43. Greg: I posted on this site years ago that one of the biggest deficiencies the White Sox have must be the lack of corporate season tickets. I worked in New England for my career and every company in creation had Red Sox tickets. My company had 8 tickets and at least 10-12 of my vendors had season tickets. So the $100 rickets and $30 parking at Fenway was much easier when the game was free and you could use the T to park and ride to games. Celtic/Bruin tisa were also prevalent but not as much for Patriots. In addition, corporate tickets means the seats are sold even if there is not a fanny in the seats. I had to make a trip to Chicago in the early 2000's to a large Bank and they offered to take me to a Cubs game while i was in town for a few days. There office staff all semmed like Cub fans so I declined. I regret i didn't go and at least see Wrigley in hindsight.

  44. Just listened. Mayo did the first mock, and he will be doing one this week. Callis started musing that the White Sox might entertain Madrigal with the thought that he might be able to play SS. Callis isn't high on Bohm at all. Likes India more than Bohm, and even Eierman more than Bohm. Think's he's a 1B. Says you don't draft for need, but there could be a lot of redundancy with Bohm, possibly Burger, and possibly Collins having to play 1B. India was brought up. Callis likes him, but notes that lack of any carrying tool, the lack of a track record, and says he would want something more out of the 4th pick than India. Jim is still very high on Singer. Think's he's easily the second best college P in this class. Notes that he's been strong his entire career in a tough conference, with this year being his best. Thinks the arm slot concern is overblown, brings up some low slot parallels in Sale/Bumgarner. Thinks the worst possible scenario for the White Sox is if it goes 1.) Mize 2.) Singer 3.) Madrigal. Muses that there's a drop off after that. Suggests Bart or Swaggerty at 4 if the previous 1 2 3 order happens. Doesn't see a high school pitcher, and seems tepid on a high school bat.

  45. I blame our scouts for picking up so many lousy players since 2006. It's an amazing dynamic that some fans don't want to rush players, so here's your window of stardom: 25 years old (maybe 24 with some players) to 29. That's four seasons in which a fan thinks a player should be raking. Any younger than 24 and we've rushed the player. Any player older than 30? Definitely DO NOT sign him to anything but a one-year deal.

  46. I mean how high can it go? At this rate, laugh if you will but in five years parking will be 60-70 dollars for a fricking baseball game; a hotdog will be 20 dollars; a burger 25 dollars; a beer 20-25 dollars; a soft drink probably stay about 10 dollars; a cotton candy 15 dollars. It's coming. I really don't understand how baseball teams make the kind of profits we read about. I thought ESPN was going broke laying off people. It's a very weird dynamic. Baseball teams are worth so much money, yet the average person certainly can't afford to attend a game today much less in five years when those prices I mentioned figure to be reality.

  49. Believe me, you're not alone in your opinions of this ownership/management team of the White Sox. I've been a season ticket holder for years and I haven't been as down on this team/ownership/management since the late 1980s when JR almost moved the team to Florida. Most of the games I've been to have had the team losing and losing badly. The atmosphere has been depressing. The upper deck has been closed at most of these games because of the sparse crowds. They announced a crowd of 13,000 tickets sold last Thursday night. They didn't have 2,000 fans at the game. A lot of the season ticket holders aren't even showing up at the games. Recently MLB executive Tony Clark made a statement about certain teams not trying to win and he didn't think it was fair to the fans of those teams. I don't know what if anything MLB can do about situations like this but I wish they would do something. I never thought the White Sox would have a team as bad as the 1970 White Sox (they lost 106 games) but Unless things really change I can see this present team being as bad as that one.
