  1. You should like Shields. Instead of keeping that pesky prospect they went for it and picked up a vet who knows how to win. How great does that look now.

  2. On the bright side, I didn't go to this game.

  3. Shes works for Turning Points USA, which is a conservative outreach program for colleges. It's backed by billionaires like Charles Koch and the Mercer family. They do real genius things like sending adults out dressed in diapers to own the libs. Much like Ben Shapiro, she will be called a "genius" for writing hard hitting articles like "Sorry, libs cops are actually cool." Nothing of any real substance.

  4. The sox have the cubs right where they want them. The cubs always have difficulty scoring runs for a few games after a game where they score more than 10 runs.

  5. Best thing that could happen to him and the sox. He needs to learn how to bounce back from failure before he gets to the MLB. Thats the purpose of the minors.

  6. This usually happens with repeated ankle sprains or a single traumatic impact. This is a big deal. This is the cartilage that covers the bone. He will have exposed bone in the joint. That flap of cartilage wont cause inflammation any longer but that exposed area will get sore and eventually expand. He will be a case for a joint resurfacing or a total joint replacement later in life. This issue is essentially traumatic arthritis that most people get in the knee.

  7. I don't think so. As stated many times, the pitching will guarantee 7 to 8 losses every 10 games no matter how well the bats start doing. Close games? Got no setup and no closer. And many non-close games cause of hacks who are starting. It is what it is: a 48 to 51-win team.

  8. I agree. They aren’t winning anything next year. Let them get their feet wet then, and have an extra year of control when they are going to need it.

  9. Fathom, I got a ton of respect for you as a poster, but you sure have a unique way of finding the absolute worst possible outlook on everything ?

  11. Yes, no problem with it, since they are rebuilding, Maybe it would give Palka more opportunities. He's probably not much better but until he gets a lot of chances you never know for sure. Avi has had plenty of chances since he was acquired.

  12. Well we knew Rodon was going to be out a while. Moncada has missed about 5 games, most have anticipated Avi to regress at least a little. Expecting a team to go through a season totally healthy isn’t realistic. 9-26 is a bit short of even what you were anticipating when you said 69-93. 60-67 the rest of the way seems a bit far fetched.

  14. It also won't be a 41 win team. But take away two top position players and the top starter away from a 70 win team and that tends to happen.

  15. This team looks that bad right now, but that's with no Moncada, and reinforcements in Rodon, Kopech, and Eloy on the way. I think this team will look a lot better in August than it does now, and I think Eloy and Kopech will force the issue and get to MLB this year.

  16. Everyone expected bad. No one anticipated a 41 win pace vs. an easy part of the schedule.

  17. Well, Kopech struck out the side in the first, so it seems like he's pretty juiced after his bad outing.

  20. I just left the game and this roster does make it difficult to justify paying a significant amount of money on tickets, parking, food. Atleast in this circumstance of having to travel to Wrigley I fully support the rebuild and accept it's going to be a process; but damn, days like today make it tough to watch. There's just so much garbage

  21. Actually, it's not a piece, which is exclusive for subscribers, I don't think, because I'm not. If you want to read their mock draft, you have to subscribe, but the article was available. In any case, here is what it said: “There’s one player that will be first on all 30 draft boards,” said one scouting director. “And the second player will be totally different on all 30 boards.” There is no clear No. 2 player in this class right now, and the second player on one preference list may be 10th on someone else’s board. That kind of uncertainty will likely lead to plenty of deal-making. As one agent put it, the top 10 will be filled with players making below-slot deals, finding the best landing spot they can in a draft where teams may not be completely sold on anyone. As we get closer and closer to the draft, the college bats are rising to the top. Players like Jonathan India, Joey Bart and Alec Bohm have the kind of production against top-level competition that can make analytics departments happy, with the tools to appeal to scouts as well."

  24. Even in a rebuild that was embarrassing today. Fulmer looks awful as a starting pitcher but he is still young, I get it. But more errors, more baserunning blunders (getting picked off second when you are down five runs?) even in a rebuild guys should be expected to do the simple fundamental things. This team is challenged even to do stuff that should have been learned a long time ago. Rebuild or not.

  25. At least I am not an Orioles fan. Think about how bad they are going to be once they trade Machado. Reds, Marlins, the tanking for draft picks crew really have pick 4 again as best case scenerio.

  26. This is not in the true spirit of sports. Throwing away seasons on purpose is very sad and against the concept of sportsmanship. It's frankly a joke. You don't have to be THIS bad to rebuild.

  27. Very embarrassing. I wish somebody would get fired.

  28. I think most expected bad Maybe the first couple of games gave some hope for not so bad. But no one could have anticipated this awful.

  29. The extreme badness of the 2 of the 5 guys in the opening day rotation has hurt the Sox on-field product in a way that you'd expect. EDIT: to be clear, the 2 of the 5 are Giolito and Gonzalez. Everyone I think assumed Fulmer might be as bad as he's been...that was baked into the expectations.

  30. I understand the concept of rebuilding, but this is the kind of game that will test a fan base’s patience. This kind of game makes it embarrassing for fans to even wear White Sox gear.

  31. It's not about dominating, it's about not looking like you belong in Birmingham. No one thought Giolito would look like the worst pitcher in baseball. Fulmer sucking was way more expected.

  32. I really wasn't aware of that...but tell ya what...that's not good on his shoulder. If he shoots left handed (which I assume)...if he's shooting birds...or even targets/skeet with a .12 gauge shotgun...that's tends to pound your shoulder pretty good. I had a saiga12 a few years back...that after I put about 36 shells thru it...left a massive bruise on my shoulder. Thing hurt for over a week lol. Course i'm not sure what he's shooting...but I'd figure either .12 gauge or 308...both will pound you.

  38. I can only hope the media and fans mock this historically bad team all weekend. Embarrassing mismatch. If they are going to make Sox fans suffer, the front office should suffer as well.

  39. They might not score 14 runs the next 5 games.

  41. If you were to project out this season based on the first 34 games, and assuming zero improvement or impact from someone like Kopech and Rodon getting back to Chicago, this team is on a pace to give up 915 runs. The 1998 team gave up 931 runs.

  42. Frank's command of the zone was so good, that manager Jeff Torborg actually wanted him to break camp with the team right from the beginning, based on what he saw of Thomas in spring training. It was then-GM Larry Himes who put the breaks on that and kept him in the minors until August of that year. But given the way Frank hit the ground running that August, it's fair to say that maybe Torborg was correct, and he could have had Thomas for the entire year of that 1990 campaign. Makes you wonder a little if a full year of Frank would have been enough for that surprise 1990 White Sox team to overtake Oakland that year.

  43. I must correct myself. This is the worse WHITE SOX pitching staff I have seen in my lifetime.

  46. Just to be clear I wasn't suggesting Eloy shouldn't go to AAA. Was just stating a fact that not everyone needs to go to AAA.

  47. Ok, I understand. He is your favorite. That's fine. We all have our own opinion, and I respect that. I like the player too. I just would prefer someone else, with our #4 pick.

  48. The better talent is in AA. AAA is a level for depth pieces for the MLB team and other AAAA type players. AAA is usually just a final tune up and I don't think it is always necessary to have to go there depending on the player.

  49. I'd just like to go on record as saying "The Bess" is an incredible nickname and I think Eloy is good. Thank you.

  50. Yeah, let's hurry to bring Kopech/Jimenez up and if they struggle, turn around and b**** about how they were rushed and that the Sox are notorious for doing this. The reality is that Kopech is still struggling with his control at AAA and Jimenez still has another level to excel at before he gets called up. I'm hoping we don't see either of them as Sox regulars until the third or fourth week of April 2019.
