  1. Lol...so very true. It’s like if we let Greg write articles for FutureSox about how dumb prospects are and how the key to the draft is to always draft that year’s Mike Trout.

  6. Why? This election is likely to be a blue wave. There should be plenty of opportunities to pick up far-left candidates. But the party isn't interested in that, they're interested in catering to their friends with big money. I'm not sure how this party has gone from supporting the working class to saying things like "I'm for the good billionaires." It's a disgrace. If we continue down this road we end up with half measures like Obamacare, a 1980s conservative health care plan. That's what this party is becoming: a party of Rockefeller Republicans.

  7. You truly are uninformed & ignorant. Similar or worse players have been getting AAVs of $20M. And why is he probably older this his listed age?

  8. Unfortunately you reasoning have failed you over and over again on this forum. You cited Celtics have a deep roster and implied it's because Rozier, Brown and Tatum are good in fantasy basketball. I am sure most posters here knew who those guys were by actually watching the playoffs, so if you reasoning is based on fantasy basketball then your opinion don't matter here. The bold part is just classic. I guess Giannis, AD, and Russ are winning championships this year, and the Spurs dynasty were full of elite fantasy players, oh wait...

  9. This is the purpose of a rebuild, finding assets that wouldn't have gotten an opportunity with a team trying to compete. If he can become a 2-3 WAR starter, that's a huge win. Even better if he can become more.

  10. Huh?? So good fantasy basketball players will win championships IRL? You lost me right there.

  11. Damnit, Ron. This isn't how it works. You're suppossed to talk about how awful and terrible he is so he performs like a star. You know, like you did/do with Abreu.

  16. This team is so much more watchable when Giolito or Fulmer aren’t starting. I would argue nothing has gone right developmentally with those two. Of course I’m not waiving the flag on em yet.

  20. Work the count? FFS we were just talking about how he needs to be more aggressive early in the count now that the book is out on how he likes to go deep into counts and see some good pitches go right down broadway. Good lord. On a double too.

  22. The problem is our fans don’t want to pay any of the current players they only want to pay the unknown guys from other teams. just give Jose 12 to 15,000,000 a year for four years and call it good but no our fans don’t want to pay White Sox players

  23. To my knowledge, he was throwing upper 90s post TJS while first in the minors and has been losing velocity each and every year. I don’t think that is that normal.

  24. when the safe establishment option lost to Donald Trump? when Even Bayh sank like a rock in Indiana? If I lived in California, I'd support her in the general if she won. I'd definitely not support her in the primary because her opponent is much better than her. That you'd back the garbage establishment over any challenger even in a state like California really speaks volumes. If the Democrats are at risk of losing that state with an actual progressive, then who cares, just pack it all in we're doomed anyway. And that's really the whole establishment's mindset. When they're not just servicing their wealthy donors, they're terrified of ever actually taking a bold stand. It lets Republicans completely dictate the political battlefield, which they've done to disastrous effect since Reagan.

  25. Jones and his help drove out the black vote in historic numbers, which was a deliberate effort. It was good strategy and it worked. Perez intentionally kept a low profile to avoid distracting nationalization of the race. Credit is due there. But here's why primarying bad Dems is good (have seen similar results with Lipinski so far) If we followed Reddy's advice, no one would ever challenge these people. There's always a threat, always a reason to "wait for later" or to wait for a better opportunity. What's missed with that is that when you keep propping up bad politicians who want to entrench the status quo, those opportunities won't ever even come because you'll be facing backlash from the failure to get what people want done. If whatever blue wave materializes is entirely centrist Dems obsessed with decorum and bipartisanship rather than pushing popular policy and opposing the right ward sprint of the GOP at all costs, people will be all the more frustrated and disillusioned in 2020.

  26. I do like the way Singer locates his pitches and the way the movement of his fastball and slider play off one another (unless you can read the spin, it's hard to tell watching him which way the ball is going to break). That said, I think any of the 3 college bats or Mize will be more valuable players long term. What will make things really interesting is if the Tigers go Kelenic at 1-1. That would be the best scenario for the Sox, as two of Mize, Bart, Bohm, and Madrigal would make it to 4. I want Madrigal, but would not be disappointed with any of the other 3. I would be slightly disappointed with Singer, but hopeful that the Sox pitching development team could develop him beyond the projections given in scouting circles of a mid rotation fast riser. Ranking the players I'd want at 1-4 right now: Mize Madrigal/Bohm Bart Singer Anyone else

  27. Is the Republican party as anti-primary as the Democrats? Seems very undemocratic to just always support the status quo. Anytime someone even remotely tries to challenge even some of the worst parts of the Democratic party they are met with hostility. Like imagine contently yelling that we must not challenge people like Cuomo or Lipinski.

  29. That’s by far the best he’s looked, not just in terms of results, but also his stuff. His fastball was harder than I’d seen before and like you said had a ton of movement. It looked like he was cutting, running, and sinking with ease. Very encouraging. Good for him.

  30. Nixon's been involved with NY politics for year. Trashing Cuomo is good and should be encouraged and done by everyone because he's terrible. A viable challenger to Cuomo is going to "trash [bad] Dems" like Cuomo, so I don't think you actually want a viable challenger. You seem reflexively against any criticism of Democrats from the left. You also didn't acknowledge that your central claim, that the "primary was over," is completely wrong. Perez broke DNC guidelines to endorse Cuomo in the middle of a primary. He did it without informing Ellison ahead of time. Why do that? Why should the progressive base continue to trust him?

  31. I mean it depends. If he's throwing straight 90 mph fastballs over the plate he'd just give up more hits.

  32. Covey was a rule 5 pick last year who had only 6 games of AA experience. It's pretty easy to understand why he got hit around. Imagine Kopech or Dunning and Hansen brought up that fast. If he wasn't a Rule 5 pick he would still be in the minors last year and probably ranked somewhere between 15-20 in the Sox top prospects with an upward arrow with how well he pitched in AAA this year while gaining a few ticks on his fastball.

  35. I wasn't aware of the fact that something already exists. I agree that it should be up to the player, however I can't understand how a pitcher would not want protection. Would a catcher be willing to sit behind the plate, without protection? Hitters are using all kinds of protective equipment. The pitcher is arguably at more risk than a hitter. The batter is completely ready for and focused upon the incoming pitch. The pitcher is in his follow through motion, and not as focused on the ball coming back at him. As hard as hurlers throw, they still cannot quite reach the velocity, at which balls are traveling, when they leave the bat.

  36. Pretty sure they have that option already. It's a goofy looking padded hat that only a few pitchers have elected to wear.

  42. Call me crazy, but personally I think the NBA has become a much better product as the game has moved away from the ISO game and into the ball movement needed to create the three point shot. I love to see the ball move, and the defense scramble and adjust. It is SO much better than 8 guys standing on one side of the floor, while there is a one on one set up on the opposite side.

  43. Simple minded? GMAFB Rating are high because the league is full of insane athletes and players fans like and hate. The league hasn't had an "unpredictable" year in forever. Maybe when the Knicks made that run to the finals around 2000. I like watching great players and teams and it's fun to watch Boston on this run after injuries. Maybe you're just to close minded to understand what people see.

  44. I would love to see any numbers on him in clutch, late inning situations. For as great as he's been here for five years, he doesn't have a lot of big late inning hits (only ones I remember are the slam vs Tampa and walk off single vs Yanks)

  45. Unless there's an inside source or two telling us Girardi is horrible in the clubhouse, etc., he could be the guy. We need a Leyland/LaRussa/Lasorda/Francona type to make us legit and too bad the first three are too old. Girardi is the man, unless there are ghosts in his closet that tell us he's a bum.

  46. I'm a vocal Bernie supporter because our country blew it. a.) Healthcare companies are committing crimes every day refusing to pay for medical care. If you go in the hospital, get ready to pay 60 to 70 percent of the bill cause the companies will reject services. Bernie will stop that shit cause we'll have FREE health care. b.) guns. Bernie will get them off the streets or annoy Republicans until he gets his way. c.) free college education for millenials. why not make it free? The capitalist system had its chances but the mega rich blew it for regular middle class people. If we can't make a middle class living, then give me Bernie ball -- socialism Bernie style baby. d.) social security. You just know it's going away and soon. Bernie ball will keep it intact.
