  1. Well when you are wrong about the offense for three years straight, and clowned repeatedly for it, you gotta move the goalposts

  2. Judging by the late round names this year I'm guessing we draft Sword McMetalneck

  3. He was 19 fucking years old playing for the first time after basically taking a year off and still put up a 1.027 OPS. But yes, those 23 strikeouts are what really matters.

  4. Sounds painful. I went to the physician for that.

  5. 1-2 balls a game? That another SS would have caught? I feel like I watch a decent amount of baseball and the low liner that's catchable by a jumping SS isn't that common.

  6. Hopefully will look back at May 2018 as the rock bottom of the rebuild watchability wise.

  7. With Shields and Covey essentially re-inventing themselves, and with how the offense has been lately, yeah the Sox might actually win more games than not soon. Or atleast, they might make the games competitive haha.

  8. Hello Mr. Hostetler, love having you here. I just wanted to let you know you're doing a great job and we all appreciate your hard work. If you could choose Erick Rivera that would be awesome.

  10. I hate discussions of a player's weakness when it is shrugged off by saying other players make up for that. Other players IMO have nothing to do with Madrigal. Judge him on his own skill set. It's silly to say he has an absence of power (a negative) and shrug it off by saying we'll have other players supply the power. Who cares about that? Heaven forbid the other guys get injured or something. If Madrigal's lack of power is a problem it's a problem.

  12. I’ve been reading complaints on this board for over a decade about plodding, station-to-station softball players, the need for the Sox to finally find some “baseball players”, emphasize up-the-middle defense, speed, etc. A little disorienting, after seeing the Sox finally draft a player who embodies everything the organization has deemphasized to its great detriment since 2005, to read that power is really all that matters.

  13. I haven’t looked into how FG does catcher defense. Seems off. Would take Soto/Castillo/Smith etc over narvy easy

  14. Best thing about this game is that now we don't have a catcher who is an automatic out.

  15. Probably just Renteria playing the hot hand, not necessarily Thompson, just the fact the Sox has been fairly competitive with that OF combo. Also probably not a big fan of that game where the Sox had 4 errors in an inning maybe officially 3 with the Palka drop against Cleveland and Skole miss of a scoop at 2st and whatever else went wrong that inning. Many here have wanted better D to support the young pitching and it does seems the Sox are giving up less runs lately.

  17. He's always had a ++ arm. Control has always been the issue.

  18. Yea, they both need to get Davidson back into a rhythm and keep Palka at DH. Something has to give and it’s Palka’s playing time

  24. Yeah, it's not like guys who are 5'8" or 5'9" could be near the AL lead in HR. Guys like Jose Ramirez and Mookie Betts could never be in the Top 5 in the AL for HR...oh, wait, they are. Maybe this whole "short guys can't hit for power" thing is overblown?

  25. What a horrible called 3rd. CB continues to be a disgrace to his profession.

  26. Amazing how some are focused on the one thing Madrigal lacks and completely ignore the other things he excels in. For some, the Sox can't do anything right.

  27. I've been thinking about this. I know Altuve is the popular exception but cmon we should not expect Madrigal to hit more than 3-5 homers a year. The guy is what, 5-foot-6? 5-7? Not that he has to hit homers to be productive. I mean like somebody said our lineup "should" have enough power to win a couple WS. He better be a good average and on base guy and fielder or he'll be known as a horrific draft pick. He can allegedly do the three things I just mentioned so we should chill. But he's NOT going to hit 15-20 hrs a year, cmon folks. Altuve is a "freak" in a good way.

  28. Eaton’s value went sky high because he correctly moved from CF to RF, played it at close to a GG level and racked up a boatload of assists.

  31. Not sure why people were saying he'd be a day 2 pick. Regardless if you think he did it or not, he plead guilty to sexual assault of a young child. Teams are gonna stay away from that.

  33. Remember all that "the White Sox traded for the wrong young Red Sox infielder", choosing Moncada instead of Devers? Devers, although still only 21, is at .1 fWAR with a wRC+ of 74 Red Sox really rushed Devers but I think it's clear the Sox made a good choice with Moncada. Moncada has proven he's a legit MLB 2B defensively. Devers has a lot of his future up in the air as it's not clear he's a long term 3B and will his bat play at 1B or LF?

  36. The Sox will actually be fielding a decent pitcher more often than not starting soon! You can put it on the board, yes! Rodon Shields Lopez Covey Giolito not bad. Should make most of the games a helluva lot more watchable.

  37. So I have a source at Texas Tech who gave me this great info about our 11th RD pick Davis Martin.... "He's a pitcher and he's pretty good. He's also very nice and one of my favs" ?

  43. This is a good post. When you evaluate the player, you evaluate the player. We don't know what players will be on the White Sox when/if Madrigal is ready. There might be some wisdom in thinking about how the skillsets of players complement each other, but when you're drafting in the first round you just get who is best. Madrigal either is the best choice or not, it can't depend on how many homers Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson hit.

  44. Agreed. Didn’t we win a World Series with a leadoff hitter who hit zero home runs in the regular season?

  45. Everyone get their concerns out right now because when you get to watch him play you will love him. You'll be saying so this is how a baseball player is supposed to play the game. The game may have devolved into behemoths saying "ugh, me swing hard, smash ball "but at it's core are guys like Madrigal who lead by example and do all the little things that make the game so enjoyable. No pun intended.
