So if we got Kopech, Moncada and Basabe for Sale, what can we get for Covey? I'm thinking a package around Gleyber Torres and Severino should get it done.4 points

So there are 5 players on 5 different teams still playing in the college baseball playoffs. I thought we should get a thread of game times and viewing information so its all in one place for anyone who wants to watch and discuss the newest Sox prospects. (all times CST) 1st round pick Nick Madrigal (Oregon State University) vs. 30th round pick Micah Coffey (University of Minnesota) Game 1: June 8th @ 4PM on ESPN2 Game 2: June 9th @ 8:30PM on ESPN2 Game 3 (if necessary): June 10th @ 8PM on ESPN2 3rd round pick Konnor Pilkington (Mississippi State University) vs. Vanderbilt University Game 1: June 8th @ 7PM on ESPN2 Game 2: June 9th @ 8:30PM on ESPN (Pilkington announced as starter) Game 3 (if necessary): June 10th @ 5PM on ESPN2 14th round pick Davis Martin (Texas Tech University) vs. Duke University Game 1: June 9th @ 2PM on ESPNU Game 2: June 10th @ 5PM on ESPNU Game 3 (if necessary): June 11th @ 3PM on ESPN2 35th round pick Jason Morgan (University of North Carolina) vs. Stetson University Jason Morgan was injured this year so he will most likely not be pitching in this series Game 1: June 8th @ 10AM on ESPN2 Game 2: June 9th @ 11AM on ESPN2 Game 3 (if necessary): June 10th @ 11AM on ESPN2 UPDATE FOR CWS Oregon State (Nick Madrigal) vs. UNC -- June 16th @ 2PM on ESPN Mississippi State (Konnor Pilkington) vs. Washington -- June 16th @ 7PM on ESPN Both will play again on June 18th on ESPN, either @ 1PM (w/game 1 loss) or 6PM (w/game 1 win) Pilkington is scheduled to pitch MSU's second game. Texas Tech (Davis Martin) vs. Florida -- June 7th @ 6PM on ESPN2 Texas Tech's second game will be on June 19th on ESPN, either @ 1PM (w/game 1 loss) or 6PM (w/game 1 win) I couldn't find which game Martin is scheduled to pitch in, so if anyone else does, please let me know.2 points

All part of Hahn's master plan that began years ago. Draft Sale, build his value, select Covey in the rule five, trade Sale for a haul to bolster the rebuild and make Covey the staff ace! Sheer genius!!!2 points

Also kudos to Chuck, as he's been the MVP of the rebuild so far. He's had 3 straight days of podcasts. His podcast last week with Hostetler was simply awesome. No doubt in my mind Chuck has been pushing to get Sox minor league games on the channel formerly known as Comcast Sports.2 points

It possible. However, the rumor implication was that the FO was deciding between Madrigal and Singer. KW made to look the bad guy who was sticking to Singer while everyone else wanted Madrigal. It wasall leaked to disinform the teams picking around them, to disguise their true intentions.2 points

Smith would be a very ideal 2nd catcher, IMO. Serviceable at the plate, solid defensively (except not great throwing), calls a good game, pitchers seem to like him...1 point
-
Is it just me or does it look like more pitchers just than Giolito like pitching to Smith? As far as I'm concerned Smith can start every game behind the plate.1 point

To be fair, if the MiLB gamecast is accurate, the ump is really squeezing him. I've seen 5 balls called this inning that gamecast had as strikes.1 point

Covey’s turnabout this year kind of goes against the idea of not rushing a player for fear of messing them up. Granted he was bad last year but the kid took those lessons to heart and learned. Six obviously saw something positive when the took him in the rule V1 point

It's interesting as you get older and celebrities that impacted your life pass away, there's definitely more of a connection and shock. Impacted would have sounded funny to me years ago, and maybe this is hyperbole, but it's hard to think of a celebrity that more embodied culture/lifestyle aspirations of at least peers of mine. The way people traveled and dined and went out and thought about experiences seemed to change either because of him or he was on the forefront of articulating it. Sad. Depression is just brutal. I'll never forget this article by Dave Weigel. I think about it every time an ending like this happens: http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2014/08/12/calling_all_sad_clowns.html1 point

Yeah. He seemed like a genuinely good person, or at least someone who tried to be and recognized his own shortcomings. His shows and his writing were as much social commentary as they were about food. e.g.: He was in Beruit filming when war broke out there, too. He cooked meals for the scared hotel staff. Plus he had a burning hatred for Kissinger, which is always a big plus.1 point

Sale has had a couple of mediocre outings lately so hopefully he has another. Betts and Pedroia out so maybe we can grab one. It would be nice to see Moncada play some wall ball.1 point

Top 10 and Top 5 at the position are usually considered elite (see the post directly above the one quoted above debunking your false information), but you're right, it's all a conspiracy led by me, and I'm apparently the leader of the Cult of Jose Abreu. How did you put all the pieces together, Ron?1 point

If Gio has turned a corner it could be a decent group. Next question is how durable will Rodon be.1 point

Well when you are wrong about the offense for three years straight, and clowned repeatedly for it, you gotta move the goalposts1 point

i think the bit you try to play is an insult to your intelligence. TBH, i think you are a better poster than the greg parody you pretend to play1 point

Rabbit - here's where I stand on this. I think that religion and faith are deeply personal (raised Catholic, currently agnostic). While I don't hold to an organized religion, I don't begrudge people their personal faith... so long as that personal faith does not intrude upon the public sphere. Conservatives in statehouses across the country (and in Congress) are attempting to legislate via faith. Simply put, there is no religious lobby or atheistic lobby that has nearly the same level of impact on legislation in this country as Evangelical Christians have. I also believe that diversity is important! Cultural and racial diversity is important - my experiences with law enforcement, obtaining housing, attending school - are very different than an African-American woman (for example). People govern from their own experience. When overwhelming majorities of the government are white and male, there is an important perspective that is missing. I'll also argue that socioeconomic diversity is also important. It wasn't until I was out of high school, and exposed to people from different socioeconomic backgrounds than my own that I started to even scratch the surface of some of the things I took for granted that keep people in poverty. To get to equality, the people that pull the levers in society need to be able to understand the different experiences and problems of people across cultural, racial, and economic divides. We aren't even close to there yet...1 point
