  1. One of the few bright spots of our season at the Major League level has been Tim Anderson. Coming off what was a rough 2017 for him in many ways, he has made huge strides defensively, increased his walk rate, decreased his strikeout rate, become more of a stolen base threat, more of a menace on the bases, more of a home run threat, and still has a very low BABIP (.276, was .328 last year) which suggests better looking offensive numbers by the end of the season. Defensively, he still botches a routine play here and there, but he also makes rangey, flashy plays and has gotten better as the season has progressed. It's been fun to watch him grow and I'm confident we have our shortstop of the future. That said, looking at where he was at the end of last season, it would probably have been considered a surprise to learn that he has likely been our most valuable player through 75 games. While he still has room for improvement, it is clear that he has begun to iron out irritating mistakes and has become a more complete hitter offensively. I'm sure more improvements will come. Watching him improve has given me more faith in improvements from Moncada, and even in the rebuild as a whole. Yoan is similar to Anderson in the sense that he's young, uber talented, and sometimes frustrating to watch. But seeing Anderson slowly but surely put his main concerns to rest with time has made me feel a lot better about Moncada doing the same, perhaps to an even greater extent.

  4. If he's as injured as its feared that's now Giolito, Cease, Stephens and now Dunning (not even counting the bullpen guys) with TJS. You absolutely load up on these guys.

  5. Sucks, but this is why the stockpile is so important. And you can’t write him off forever. He could still be fine in 2020.

  6. These wannabes are in a depressing situation. They know that players come to Chicago to fail. Just ask the three Adams.

  7. It doesn't seem like Anderson was laughing at him or the situation. Just one of those laughs where you're thinking "god damn... well... there you have it" He didn't step out of line in any way or become personal. He included himself and basically just said "We all need to be better. There's no excuse for this." Very fair. I respect it. This team is supposed to be bad, but a portion of this can be avoided. The mental miscues, defensive blunders, how bad they have been with RISP and less than two outs. The fundamentals. This team just fails. You don't have to be uber talented to execute on the little things. This mainly goes back to our manager. However, the players giving themselves a kick in the ass might be a solid substitute.

  8. Yoan needs to make a donation to the Umpires Retirement Fund and he will start seeing a smaller strike zone.

  9. If ANYBODY in that clubhouse has a problem with (or doesn't completely agree with) what Lopez said, they do not deserve to wear this uniform. I applaud Reynaldo for speaking the truth. At least somebody on this team cares.

  10. I don’t know why anybody cares or keeps complaining about what our team is doing. Yeah, yeah, I want to win. Blah, blah, blah. We finally chose a path. Anybody worth a dam was traded. There is only 4-5 players worth paying attention too. Sorry to burst your bubble but most of these players would not even be on a major league roster if it were not for gutting this team. No matter how much you wish them to be. I don’t understand. It’s only been 18 months. Most of the players we will care about are still in the minors. If I didn’t know about the prospects we have, I’d be pissed too but our future looks awesome. We still need to accumalate more since not all will succeed. I will wait to judge them until 2020. If we are not contending by then, we will need to fire them all. But I’m very happy with what’s coming up soon. You should be too

  13. Former coach of the Bears, Mike Ditka's spot. I've been there a couple times, great atmosphere if you like Chicago sports. Food is solid as well. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g35805-d429390-Reviews-Ditka_s_Restaurant-Chicago_Illinois.html

  15. He needs to be a face when he gets back. This whole goofy persona as a heel is awful in my opinion. And I'm with you, he is great, but I think his better work comes as a face. WWE just need to book him correctly.

  18. I thought when I looked up Moncada's BABIP it would be well less than .300 because it seems he tatoos the ball very often but it goes right at people. Was shocked to find BABIP was .329 on the season. Still doesn't explain the weird called strike stuff. He's getting hosed way too often by Umps and it is gettng beyond annoying at this point.

  21. Can we pin this post? Just want to make sure a few years from now we all remember the time someone said Moncada reminded them of Dustin Ackley because the kid hit a rough patch as a 23 year old before he even reached the 600 plate appearance mark.

  23. Anderson is on pace for a 20 20 season. That is very nice.Would like to see him continue to improve his OBP though. Moncada is reminding me more and more of Dustin Ackley with each passing day. All the tools on paper, dominated lower competition, but became just another guy at the MLB level.

  24. The director did an AMA on Reddit. 1. The cultists put the road kill there. They also put their sigil on the telephone poll that took off Charlie's head. 2. Charlie was possessed the entire time. She killed herself intentionally once her brother was weak enough to take his body.

  26. That will happen when 1 guy has to make up for all the dead weight on this team. I really hope he gets traded to a team like Houston. He deserves a shot to play in the playoffs. Screw this mentoring shit.

  28. Have heard and maybe someone can confirm this that Farmer and DJ were really ripping on the team on the radio broadcast. Supposedly DJ said "this is more of the clown baseball we've been seeing lately..." And Farmer supposedly said "Anderson has got to learn to catch something over there at short..." Rebuilding or not if this is true I salute the radio guys for calling the team out.

  31. Yeah Tim shouldn't have been laughing, but his comments show me he gets it. "In a couple years, we will be kicking peoples' butts. Right now, we are getting our butts kicked." That shows me he understands the rebuilding process and how it's working, and hopefully the other players do too. I just hope, as we all do, that in a couple years if this kind of play is happening, Tim shows a little more frustration. This doesn't bother me though.
