Interesting approach. I've always thought it would be better to focus on the right fielder's ear, but the pitcher's hand does seem to make more sense.3 points

There’s a reason Hahn has been stockpiling young relievers in the farm. Question is will Ricky be too afraid to use them (assuming Ricky is still here next season)? www.minorleagueball.com/platform/amp/2018/8/24/17775752/chicago-white-sox-relief-prospects-thriving-at-every-level1 point

You absolutely have to turn Walker around with a lefty! This was a winnable game if the bullpen was used correctly.1 point

You honestly expect to see Minaya and Covey pitching the last two innings of a close/tie game next year? They’ll be lucky to make the 25 man.1 point

13th game this year lost by the Sox when they had a lead in the 7th inning or later. Bullpen needs a lot of work this off season if they want to make significant progress in 2019.1 point

Three homers allowed in last four innings is actually more what we have been used too1 point

Delmonico's not an outfielder, Palka's not an outfielder, Davidson's not a 3B...etc. Engel's a CFer but can't hit even at the standard set by 2006 Brian Anderson.1 point

It seems like this is what happens when you purposely hold one hand behind your back. Hope this is last year of this1 point

In 2021, it will be hilarious to recall the 2018 days when Juan fucking Minaya was the 8th inning guy for the White Sox.1 point

I know I’ll be in the minority here, but I think we have a solid chance of landing Machado.1 point

Things look a whole lot brighter if you pencil in Manny Machado. This offseason could be interesting. I doubt we get him or other elite FAs, but hope to see the Sox at least show serious interest.1 point

Yeah if you told me one team this series was going to play solid defense and make plenty of quality contact the other team was DEFINITELY not, I probably would not have picked this configuration.1 point

Cue Manfred Mann. IDK what the hell they're saying in that song.1 point

One more hit please. It's fun to win. I'm bummed Hawk is retiring just in time for what should be the golden age of White Sox baseball. EDIT: Little Nicky!!! Yessss.1 point

The baserunning has been other worldly as of late. So many manufactured runs and extra bases taken.1 point

The best part of Moncada's hit is that it was not really a strike, and with 2 strikes on him, he decided to hit the damn thing.1 point

He's been playing great, but Timmy's at bat earlier was quite ugly. Looked like someone playing a video game that didn't know you have to hit the down button to hit a low pitch. Actually thought Yoan got more of his fly out.1 point

I did get a few chuckles out of Fathom's response when Chicago White Sox and I were trying to meet up on Kopech day at the ballpark. CWS asked where I was and before I could answer, Fathom said I was hanging out in Giolito's locker.1 point

That's awesome dude! Really looking forward to seeing him in a Sox uniform.1 point

See above. If the question were "what are the odds they decline his option, then re-sign him anyway to a cheaper 1-year deal as a 5th starter until Cease is ready", then I'd probably put it closer to 25%1 point

I really think the Sox want to keep him down until next April, but man is Eloy just making it brutally tough to do so.1 point

I think it's time. The winning lately has got a good vibe going in the clubhouse, even Yoan is smiling a bit. Time to get this kid in Chicago and start building the next playoff roster.1 point

We have a six year window to try and win two championships between 2020 and 2025. We need to maximize that window the best we can and hope our front office has a plan for keeping core guys and replacing others competently thereafter. I would love an extra year of control but bringing Eloy up in a week may be the right thi g to do. Having our young stars up together even for a month can go a long way. They can bond and push each other to be better while building chemistry. It may push other regulars here now to perform better to remain on the roster. It may create a stir where a guy like Harper may give us a chance if we overpay him. There are fair arguments to be made on both sides of the coin. A lot of people are passing the idea off as stupid when it really isn't.1 point

The rebuild is progressing as should be expected. We are auditioning guys at the major league level while we wait for the most talented guys to get here. Some are struggling to adjust, but this winning streak and hot period is largely because we are seeing progress from guys who will probably be around for the middle and longer terms. This isn't Jose Abreu and Avi Garcia carrying the team. Abreu is out and Avi is slumping. The good news is that this winning streak is because Adam Engel has had a very good last month. In the last four weeks his OPS is over .800. Omar Narvaez has been one of the most productive hitting catchers around baseball for nearly 3 months now. Tim Anderson is over .800 OPS for the last four weeks and is fielding like we knew he could. Daniel Palka has come out of no where and given the Sox a + bat. Nicky Delmonico has started to hit again (.941 OPS for the last two weeks). Yolmer has been on base in 15 straight games. On the other side of the ledger the pitching is even picking it up. Lucas Giolito all of the sudden is looking like the pitcher the Nats drafted out of HS, and not the pitcher they ruined and the Sox have spent two years rebuilding. Over the last month he is averaging a K an inning, and his walk rate is 3/9IP. His ERA has fallen by a full run since the beginning of July. Michael Kopech is as advertised. Carlos Rodon is looking like the guy who was supposed to be the #1 pick. Juan Minaya's last month has been very good. Jace Fry has recovered from an awful July and put up an excellent August. Even a guy like Gomez has been usable over the last month. While people nitpick out individuals, what you want to see is progress by the unit as a whole, and by most of the players. It isn't going to be a 100% thing all of the time, but this team is moving along. It is only going to get better as we start to add more guys from the next tiers of the minors. Hell we have half of the future bullpen waiting in Charlotte. That alone will make a huge difference going forward.1 point

I thought Texas was shifting toward being a potential battleground state? Or we could just let the will of the people happen. I know you can't conceive of a world in which the wealthy and politicians aren't allowed to conspire to move their agendas forward over the will of the people, but it's an idea that many, including the DNC now (though only out of fear), are embracing. Letting the wealthy and politicians decide is how we've gotten the last ~40 years of disaster. Insanity is trying the same thing and expecting different results. I'm glad the people and, by extension, the DNC, are being sane and embracing the concept of trying something different.1 point

Not to take away from Rodon, but it seems like there have been like 8 or 9 games this year that Tim Anderson has won singlehandedly. Defense, offense, baserunning. This was one of those games.1 point

There is so much irrelevant in this post. This is pretty much all excuses and enabling. Yes. We live in a society. As a group we decide what is ok and what is not. What it amounts to is that some feel like there should be no consequences for their actions. If you need to call someone a f@g to feel funny or smart, that is your right. But it is the rest of our right to see it for what it is. Don't cry because there are consequences for your actions.1 point

I do also think that the ability to put things into context has been loss. We literally have people upset because they can't use a few specific words as insults even though it used to be OK. I mean dang, that is some true suffering for the cause right there. That is almost on a level with multigenerational poverty, gay-bashing, and racism.1 point

Again we should be past this point as a society. If you don't see that point, you don't want to.1 point

Can we acknowledge that just because something happened in the past that doesn't make it OK today. I just got done reading that one one point Thomas Jefferson's opinion was that the negro was somewhere below the white man, and somewhere above an ape. Anyone else want to say that is OK because it was something that was accepted as truth at one point, even by the educated elite? That doesn't make it OK to do that today, because we have become a bit more educated in 200+ years. I am not sure why understanding that we should learn from these things is a bad thing.1 point
