Anyone who wants to question "Why didn't she report" needs to look in an F'ing mirror. People like that are EXACTLY why people wait decades to report stuff. It is why stuff like the Catholic Church abuse scandal happens, it is why Penn State happens, it is why Bill Cosby happens, and it is why Bill Clinton and Donald Trump happens. People are too damned busy questioning the victims and assigning some fake ethos of what they SHOULD be in order to be an acceptable claim, instead of realizing that their BS is why this stuff gets buried for decades. No one wants to be the target of these type of mouthbreathing institutional attacks.4 points

I see basically no upside in keeping Avi. Best case scenario he blows up and the Sox get some middling prospect for him next July. I'd rather non-tender him and use that $10M towards signing a better OF, that can either be used as a stopgap until the kids fill the OF, or used as trade currency if he performs well.2 points

None of the big name free agents are coming here, I took a look at the rest of the free agents and I am just not very excited,am I wrong.1 point

I was one of the very few saying this would be a bad year and don't be surprised if the young players struggled. That said, next year will be better.1 point

Its main purpose is to avoid having your backend starters facing the top of the lineup a third time through the order when they're probably going to get hammered.1 point

Wow I didn't know Moose was so good that in a half season he could ve propelled us from 3rd pick to 9th pick. That's amazing. No one is thinking we are a player or two away. We are trying to help the rebuild our way just as you are yours. We need more assets. We need better defenders and less DH's. We need more talent in AA/AAA. In other words we need less of what we already have and more of what we don't have.1 point

I didn't know a million guys pitched 200 innings this year. Easy peezy to find one then. But I do agree on the 1st part of what you said they will do ;wait wait cheap1 point

I wonder if there's ever been a study on the significance of where exactly a player was drafted. Like take the WAR of all the players drafted in the top 10 and see how much of a difference there really is. I suspect it would be pretty small.1 point

Love that scene, love that movie. I have "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent" tattooed on my forearm.1 point

It doesn't matter what people want. The team will do what it does. We've all wanted them to win for the past 10 years and that hasn't had any effect on the play on the field.1 point

I literally cannot believe some think it is more important to win 63 games than to get the #3 instead of potentially the #5 or #6 pick. The difference between the #3 and the #6 pick could be a world championship. 100 losses will never be remembered if the Sox get a world series title because of it.1 point

conversely though, their offense is much better at both spots with Russell out. So it isnt a total loss for them1 point

I don’t get this type of thinking... The goal should be to get the highest draft pick possible, so that the Sox can get the best possible players during the draft. The same people who are rooting for the Sox to win these truly meaningless games are the same people who are going to be mad that the Sox for missing out on (Insert Player Here). And there’s a big difference between having the third worst record and the fifth worst record. That affects how much money you have to spend on amateur players in the draft and on J2. And to suggest that the number of losses is indicative of the progress of the rebuild in absolutely insane. What’s so hard to understand about this process?1 point

And what exactly are the chances of James Shields repeating this year's mediocre performance with another 200 innings next year? He'll be 37. I bet if he pitches, it will be a lot closer to the 117 he pitched in 2017. Time to move on and put that nightmare trade behind the organization. It isn't like he can be flipped for anything. This season proved that. Someone like him, fine. But not him.1 point

I mean they are literally dragging out the targets of the racism, while the racist moron shouts racist phrases at them, and no one bothers him except his buddy. You can't do any worse here.1 point

It's because he was so committed to being at church his calendar was merely a reminder of when he needed to stop.1 point

I have no idea why anyone would want James Shields to pitch for the White Sox next year. He was a little better this year than in the past, but what would make one think next year he won't be back to being his old awful self? I am sure he has had some nice words of wisdom for the young guys, but they have heard him, move on.1 point

Kavanaugh has presented a calendar from 1982 which he claims proves he wasn't at the party in question. He just happened to have a calendar from 36 years ago handy, probably knowing back then he would be up for this job and someone may accuse him of doing something other than studying, playing sports, going to church and doing things for his community.1 point

I can't believe that teams won't sign Eric Reid. I can think of like 10 teams that use him.1 point

It's funny how people will blindly support billionaire owners who care about nothing more than their net worth and team value increasing every year, while being so quick to scream "DFA that bum" at the 25th man on the roster, trying his hardest to play well and make a living.1 point

I hear ya, but your plan depends on the assumption that Hahn would have come up with that package. That's a tenuous assumption. See Todd Frazier, a similar player (and several other of Hahn's July deals).1 point

I was told over and over it was a bad idea to add Moustaskas the previous off season because he cost a draft pick and Yolmer and others needed a chance to play even though Moose was dirt cheap at the time. So instead KC resigned him traded him at the deadline and they got 2 AAA players (one who hit .300 in AAA and has a great arm and the other came close to a perfect game after a few starts in the majors while the Sox saved $6M and drafted yet another OF with the pick we would have lost. Hell I still get told it was a bad idea.1 point

It would be nice, not that it would do much good anyway. Can't wait to get another Gillaspie, Cordell or Madeiros1 point

It's been so dismal that fans are turning into masochists. Another round of Shields? Dear lord.1 point

People who have to announce they are leaving are obviously quite needy and they almost never really leave. There was an Elton John song about a guy who was going to end it all except to stick around for the funeral and see what a ruckus he raised.1 point

what the hell does Khalil Mack have to do with Trubisky? If you EVER get a chance to land one of the top...if not THE top defensive player in the league for a couple of 1st rounders (who very well may end up being pretty meh and mediocre at best)...it's pretty much a no-brainer. I can't believe anybody is unhappy with this deal still given what Mack's brought to the table already and how he's escalated the level of play on the D. Good lord....1 point

He wouldn't be "fucked for life." He would not be 1 of 9 people in a country of over 350,000,000 to hold the highest court seat in the country. He would still hold one of the most important federal court seats on the DC appellate court for the rest of his life.1 point
