Why do people bag on Joe? He's won everywhere he's gone. When was the last time the White Sox won 95 games? Come on man.2 points

You're surprised? The wealthy do this all the time in an attempt to evade taxes, and it typically works. And with all the frothing at the mouth idiotic "taxation is theft" Libertarians the Koch brothers have spent millions (billions?) cultivating in society, the public appetite for scrutinizing and going after these billionaires and their tax dodge strategies isn't very high. Couple that with the Republicans slowly but surely defunding the IRS (despite the IRS currently providing the government with a 700+% ROI on its budget), and it's no wonder the billionaires can get away with flat out subscribing to false tax returns (a federal crime). If the IRS sees a team of lawyers come into an audit, they're likely to just settle the case or maybe even drop it, which is why the IRS is very quick to predate on the average citizen, even on issues where it's clear the error is on their part, and very slow to bring the Waltons, Kochs, and Trumps of the world to justice for their tax crimes.1 point

Right, because it isn’t possible to agree on a player. Everything has to be polar. Scouts versus stats! Us versus them!1 point

I don't want him anywhere near the South Side. Renteria is horrible, and he'd be a clear upgrade, but I want them to go in a different direction. Being the best manager in baseball is like winning a tallest midget contest. The best ones are the guys who don't make as many boneheaded, idiotic decisions as the next guy. A manager can definitely lose games for you, but they don't win them. Don't get me wrong, I think Maddon is probably top 5 in baseball, but I think he's a smug, pompous asshat, and I don't want him and his attitude near this team. Maddon fits right in with the fanbase and FO on the North Side. Smug, pompous, arrogant, and they all think they're the smartest guy in the room.1 point

Too early to call the Beer hype worthy or misplaced. That’s all I’m sayin. Considering Houston picked him, I’m guessing he’ll become a star.1 point

Sworn statement? OK. Actual sworn statements by multiple Kavanaugh accusers means nothing to you, but some letter given to someone at Fox News is a sworn statement that tells the truth. Man are you whipped by the Trump Party. Let me guess, you believe all those old accusations about Harvey Weinstein, even though he denies them because of who he votes for?1 point

It would be one thing if she never flew because of that fear, but she obviously overcomes that fear and flies frequently. So people (not me) claim there is more to why she didn't come to Washington when asked, e.g., because she was being told not to as part of a coordinated effort to delay the nomination, not because she was fearful of a flight.1 point

Or it could be she was under so much stress, her fear of flying becomes worse. I once was on a plane next to a woman who when we got ready to take off told me about her fear and asked if she could hold my hand. She was holding my hand so tight andshaking as we were going down the runway. But she still flew.1 point

Literally none of the bolded has happened at all. Fear of flying? Does everyone you know tell everyone else they know about their fears? Of course not, most people keep most of that to themselves by nature. The fact that some knew she feared it and some didn't proves zero. There has been no evidence at all about the "double door" thing being a lie. Someone picked up some info as to other reasons the door may be there, which is not at all the same thing and I think you know that. Nothing in her story has, from any information I've seen, changed in character either way. No more corroboration, no more evidence against. Nothing.1 point

What do you expect from an admitted sexual assaulter? He really is scum of the earth. As a nation, we should all be embarrassed he is in the position he is in.1 point

I challenge anyone to find a player with more bizarre career stats than Terrance Gore. 1-16 with 19 runs and 27 steals over five years? He actually went his entire Royals career and never got a hit. Huh? And bye, Cubs.1 point

Well that fell apart quickly looks like multiple cases of perjury by Dr Ford. Tell me how this exonerates Kavanaugh from lying under oath. Oh wait it doesnt. My argument against Kavanaugh doesnt rely on Ford, so its interesting you keep bringing her up but failing to address the real issue which is Kavanaugh's testimony. How many posts can you make where you avoid the issue of Kavanaugh's perjury?1 point

I think he is really good when he doesn’t think he is on stage at Zanies and every line needs to be gold. When he does the games and lets the one liners come naturally, it’s a better broadcast.1 point

Hey I get it hot takes are your thing but please let them make some sort of sense. He's a trainer they have a training staff. They have strength and conditioning coaches. I don't even see how you can blame a trainer if some gets hit by a pitch or slides into a base and breaks a hand or ankle. Some of these guys are unique physical specimens with extraordinary muscle mass much of the time built through weight training which might not take into account the true hereditary nature of what their body can tolerate. Pitching in and of itself is an unnatural motion for a human being. Its far more natural to throw underhanded. You can't prevent pitching injuries when just the act of pitching is against the natural flow of body movement. Maybe if you ever took the time to say which injuries you think that could have been prevented you might make some sense but you don't dare do that since ptatc might shoot you down. If you are not a medical professional throwing baseless accusations around is not just a hot take its an idiotic take.1 point

I'm not at all holding that against Herm, but the neurosurgeon's at rush deserve credit for that.1 point

Why is Herm all of the sudden off limits? Top to bottom, the org was a joke when it came to staying healthy.1 point

We turned a guy that was so unwanted, that the Dodgers GAVE us Avilan to TAKE him, into a respectable prospect left hand pitching prospect in the high minors. Joakim Soria was clearly a win for the White Sox.1 point

Just wish we would have gotten something decent for him, instead of a declining prospect KW liked in the 2014 draft.1 point

I am not advocating moving any player in advance of anyone. Jimenez, madrigal, anyone. But I am against this idea that specifically comes up about Madrigal that the player he is today is his ceiling just carried over to MLB stats. He needs to walk more, he needs to hit for more power. He needs to translate his college SB numbers to the pros. The reason people think he will be quick to pros isn't because he is a finished product, it's because he has a number of major league level skills. If he doesn't progress anything else of his, he will likely be bad to average. But the starting package is very promising, I don't think he'll ever hit for 25 home runs, but every marginal growth in power for him means so much more than for the same growth on a related player. His other skills are that strong.1 point
-
I have seen a few examples now of plus plus contact (astudillo) or plus plus discipline (narvaez) end up with surprising power. It may take a few years to get him to 10 home runs, but unlike the other two, he has plus speed and plus defense. He has reported plus baserunning instincts. He is said to use all of his power. He's going to hit a bunch of grounders. It's a fact. His power didn't show up in his first half season, where he was coming off of a CWS championship and was placed at a higher level than any other draft pick. It didn't for Burger or Sheets either, who had plus power in their game. I'm more confident in Madrigal's plus plus skill unlocking the most of what else he has. If Madrigal succeeds, he is going to do it differently than what we are used to.1 point

Scioscia is a dinosaur still living off the glory of winning the WS fifteen years ago. He had a good career, and should retire.1 point

If we are only going to consider Madrigal a potential core piece of this rebuild, if he develops power, then the Sox have made a mistake, picking him #4. Power has not been part of his game and may never be. If that were the case, the Sox used a precious top Draft pick, to select a player, with the hope that he can become something, that he isn't. My guess is that the Sox wanted him because they value what he brings, not what he could bring, to the game, He is a tremendous contact hitter, in an age where everyone strikes out far too often. He is a great defensive player, at an important middle infield position. He has a very high baseball acumen and he is a team leader. He is not a power hitter and I don't think that he will become one. Although power would be a nice bonus, it is probably not something, upon which the Sox are going to insist, before promoting him to the Majors. He profiles as a potential Gold Glove second baseman, who could fill a valuable role, as a leadoff, or 2 hole hitter. If he demonstrates a capacity to perform those functions, at the Big League level, he'll be brought up.1 point
