  4. The White Sox could have done worse. They could have held onto Kahnle.

  5. Lol...I was 100% kidding. I think they simply thought now was the best time to sneak Clarkin down.

  6. The moral of the story is don't trade for Yankees prospects

  7. "Probably"? I think you mean definitely. But no, I think leaving two spots open means we want room for a FA, but not one of those two (necessarily).

  8. They weren't particularly good lotto tickets though is my main issue. Yankees have such huge lat am investment, there are plenty of raw lotto tickets they could have eyed. Sox avoided those for some much more developed talent in the trades for Swarzak, Kahnle/Robertson, Jennings, Soria trades sox went after flawed but more developed talent.

  12. And I’m totally fine with that if we plan to spend big on a starter. That’s called being forward thinking and thinking through the best multi-year plan for the organization. I just can’t agree with the concept that adding one veteran starter right now somehow blocks one of our kids in 2020. Let’s say we sign Eovaldi and all three of our young starters take a leap next year (Rodon, Lopez, & Giolito). Worst case scenario, we have a young left-handed starter in Rodon under control for two more years that we can trade to fill other holes or add prospect depth back to the system. I just don’t see how anyone could view this as a problem.

  13. Jesus Christ man, adding one controllable starting pitcher won’t block anyone. You are the first person I have ever met who cried about having too much starting pitching. If they all work out, which is incredibly unlikely, we have some depth to deal from. That is a good problem to have. Regardless, Kopech & Cease (if healthy) will be given their opportunities next year no matter what and room will be made if necessary.

  14. If things were up to you, we'd be rebuilding for 10 years. I am glad you're not in charge.

  15. Signing any FA that is worth a damn is going to be a risk. At some point, you need to take risks to win baseball games.

  16. CLEARLY HE IS ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL!!! HOW HAVE WE NOT SIGNED EVERYBODY AND TRADED FOR ALL THE GOOD PLAYERS AND BAD PLAYERS TOO!!! IF A GOOD TEAMS WANTS A PLAYER WE NEED TO HAVE THEM!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

  17. So just to be clear, your plan is to rush all our prospects to somehow make things “interesting”? I’d like to share my actual thoughts here, but would prefer to avoid a likely suspension.

  18. Being true would require a greater burden of proof than just having merit. Your numbers are very specific. If you can state such specific numbers, you'd surely have a source. Otherwise you're just BSing. Saying that "a million stories came out when the Kavanaugh stuff was going on" is not helping your claim. Especially since even in the specific case against Kavanaugh, several of the accusers were unequivocally proven to be flat out lying.

  19. People wanted the rebuild so badly, and despite all of the evidence of how long that it would take, people still seem surprised and upset it is taking so long. This is a process. Sure a big signing could speed this up by maybe a bit, but this team is not going anywhere in 2019, and probably not 2020. This was was true when they burned it down 2 years ago, and it is still true today.

  21. Pretty sure you just pulled this out of your ass. Not sure what stats are publicly available on this, but in terms of the federal government, only about 30% of EEO allegations are found to have merit. I would assume that it is likely pretty close to the same in the private sector.

  24. There's way too much "Harper is overrated because of WAR" going on here. We're talking about a guy who, over his last four seasons, has never had an OBP lower than .373. That's not even factoring in his power or the fact that he is just now entering his prime. Diminishing him to "he's just 17 WAR in 6 seasons" is a pretty weak argument to me. If you really think that Travis Shaw and Marcus Semien (higher WAR than Harper in 2018) were better than Harper last year then I don't know what to tell you other than you might want to rely less on WAR.

  25. In a perfect world, this is what I want the Sox to do: Get Harper or Machado. A superstar in their prime to anchor the lineup and be the face of the franchise long term. AND Sign a couple of the bridge guys (Donaldson/Brantley/McCutchen/Moustakas/Happ/Cahill/Familia) to 1 or 2 year deals. This would make the team much more formidable in the short term, but these guys wouldn't be blocking any prospects. The Sox would once again have a substantial amount to spend in a couple years once these contracts are up to use towards filling holes when the team should be closer to being a legit contender. This would be the best of both worlds in my opinion.
