Peavy44 has been the real MVP of this board for the last 3 weeks. He’s 1) provided endless entertainment, 2) made everyone question things they read on Internet, 3) made posters spell check before posting, 4) increased post count of every poster, 5) increased + scores for every poster. For that Peavy44, you deserve recognition as the Soxtalk troll of the month for December (still early, but no one will catch up, seriously). and are the favorite for troll poster of the year (TPOY) honor.7 points

If he really wanted to play for the Yankees he would not have spent 2 days in Chicago the week before Christmas. If it were a due diligence meeting it would have been a couple of hours. I think the meetings were this week to let some time pass after the playoffs and feel some things out during the winter meetings. MY guess is there was contact the previous few weeks with the agents. If neither Harper or Macado wanted to play for the White Sox they would not be wasting all their time meeting with them just to try and raise the offer from the other teams they wanted to play for. The due diligence is to sit and spend a couple hours maybe three and be done with it, give us some numbers and leave town.3 points

Why the fuck should the city have to pay for anything re: Wrigley Field? Stop subsidizing the rich.3 points

Honestly the MLB blackout stuff is the absolute most pressing fan issue in modern baseball in my eyes. Forget all of the crap about speed of play. The fact that people in the 21st century can't see their favorite team play live, even when they are willing to pay to do so, is absolutely Bill Wirtz-ian in its outdated stupidity and shortsightedness.3 points

There is so much bias and favoritism in the baseball media. Based on the media it sounds like they think medium and smaller market teams shouldn’t even bother fielding a team. The MLB channel which you think would be somewhat balanced is continually heavy on 3-4 teams. You know who they are. The Media definitely don’t want the White Sox signing Machado or Harper because they have already decided where Harper and Machado are going.2 points

As a Sox fan I hope the Cubs get stuck with another bad long term contract for someone like Harper. He wouldn't really make the Cubs that much better especially since they need pitching and not more hitting help. I love the tears cub fans shed as they have a good team but not good enough to make it back to the World Series. Especially since after 2016 they were using words like "Dynasty". In fact I would say the Cubs are way better off doing nothing this off season than signing Harper to an expensive and long term contract. I feel Theo is way overrated as a GM and for every genius move (like signing Lester) he makes bad moves (Darvish instead of Arrieta, Chatwood, Heyward). And I don't think the Sox need Harper or Machado either- our rebuild comes down to the pitching- will Kopech come back as strong and be a legit #1 or #2 starter? Will Giolito and Lopez become legit #3 and #4 type starters? Cease, Dunning, Hansen- can one of them become a legit starter. Harper and or Machado is just icing on the cake. Although I do agree with others points that Harper brings a certain marketing hype that the Sox don't currently have.2 points
