I'm really starting to think the Sox get Machado. Look at all the things they have done to make him aware how much they want him. 1. Signed Welington Castillo 2. Tried to trade for him last year. Probably an underwhelming offer but it could be the idea was for the Sox to express early interest in him and just put it out there . 3. Traded for Colome a team mate of Machado on the 2017 Dominican Republic WBC team. 4. Traded for Ivan Nova another team mate of Machado's on the DR team. 5. Traded for Yonder Alonso , Machado's brother in law. So who else is still out there who might make Machado happy? There's Adam Jones and Zach Britton. Nelson Cruz ex Oriole and DR team mate but not a fit any longer but the Sox did show interest in him supposedly before they got Alonso. Sox also expressed interest in Familia, another ex DR team mate So now there's the latest rumor that something started 2 weeks ago that came together quickly recently. Would anyone really be surprised if it was Adam Jones or Britton or a trade for Starling Marte another DR team mate of Machado ?4 points

You'll have to file a formal request with the Rules Committee.1 point

Wonder if the rumor has anything to do with Realmuto. No one seems to want to budge on the Marlins price but the Sox could do a quantity package and beat out lower offers.1 point

I'd like to see Facebook login and password added to the regulations to be sure the person posting the rumor is actually human. You just can't tell these days.1 point

Remember the Cubs kept Bryant down well past he was ready. It was more glaring than the Sox have done with Eloy, and it was a national story. The Players Union filed a grievance over it. Bryant said something along the lines of "I'll remember that when it comes time for free agency." He might like playing for the Cubs and winning, but Bryant isn't going to sign an extension or give the Cubs a hometown discount. He will absolutely take the best offer, even if that means leaving. If the Cubs have $40 mil a year locked up in Harper, along with Baez, Rizzo, etc, it makes it much less likely they could afford Bryant. So Harper signing with the Cubs would mean he gets to play with his friend for 3 years (if that actually is the priority the media makes it out to be), but it would also almost guarantee that Bryant is playing elsewhere in 2022.1 point

I received a DVD put out by Rare Sportsfilms inc. The DVD is called The 1966 Chicago White Sox, A Look At The Sox. This is a vintage WGN Tv film that was put out right before the 1966 season. Its a 52 minute film.1 point

He already was on the Sox like 10 years ago, he was part of the Jake Peavy trade if I remember correctly.1 point

I don't see them leaving Chicago. Maybe moving in the fences w a short right field porch for Harper and a short left field wall for Machado.1 point

His Instagram story shows Alonso as the family Santa. Santa being a white Sox player is big, maybe even bigger than Alonso.1 point

Still would rather have Avi than any free agent outfielder besides Bryce.1 point

Yes. If they win another championship or two, and the Sox rebuild fails they can absolutely put the hammer down on the Sox. The Sox might as well not even exist at that point. I don't think it would be even worth it for the Sox to remain in town past this stadium lease at that point. The Cubs would have a stranglehold on the city and there would be exactly zero Sox fans under 35 by 2030. I haven't seen a random kid wearing Sox gear in 5+ years. I really don't think they register to anyone born after 1995. This is the bigger problem, IMO. I never see kids at Sox games. The youngest people that ever see at the games are really little kids and about 25 year olds.1 point

I agree with all of that. I know how good they are. That’s why I said I’d rather play SEA. Still, beating average and bad teams & losing to good ones over the last 8 games isn’t anything spectacular. And then after they beat Dallas, they can knock off NO and give the Bears a home NFC Championship game.1 point

Do you most of you agree with this assessment?: Machado: He would love to play for his life long favorite team, the Yankees. However, they do not appear to be interested in giving him a long term contract, in the dollar range, he is seeking. Between the Phillies and Sox, given comparable offers, he probably prefers the Sox, because his wife would likely prefer being in Chicago, close to her brother, who is also Manny's closest friend, as well as a member of the Sox. Harper: He may prefer the Cubs, because of his buddy Bryant, or the Dodgers, because they are in LA, however the Cubs do not have the payroll flexibility and the Dodgers do not really seem eager to make the kind of financial expenditure required. They probably have more pressing needs. Between the Phillies and Sox, again the wife may play a critical role. If he signed with the Sox, he couldn't play along side his buddy, but at least his wife, who is very close with Bryant's wife, could be near her in Chicago. The city of Chicago should appeal to the Harpers, more than the City of Brotherly Love. Unless the Phillies blow past the Sox offer, why wouldn't he choose the Sox, over the Phillies? Just trying to provide a little hope and Holiday Cheer. Did it work, for any of you?1 point

Sox should go after heyward and have the Cubs pitch 4-6 million a year in , he's still a great defender that needs a change of scenery1 point

Completely triggered by defense from a corner outfielder, which we know to be bullshit. He had 2 seasons with an OPS over .800. His highest OPS ever was .849. Heyward's always been a complete fraud, which is why most of us laughed at his contract.1 point

I remember when I went to this board to talk baseball now all people do is post garbage rumors and attack each other. There should be some sort of rule as well where people are not allowed to post unsourced bullshit as if it were fact or post some garbage from someone with 20 twitter followers. You can blame posters if you want but this isn't a poster problem it's a mod problem. Half the garbage that has been posted lately should have been deleted or never allowed in the first place.1 point
