Please stop the Shields talk, it’s making me nauseous.3 points

It may be one reason I am so against bringing Shields back under any circumstance. For some reason, my ticket plan synced up with James Shields starts way too often the past 2 1/2 seasons. I can't take another.3 points

How hard is it to figure out when the subject is the Cubs and he said “she” in his sentence?3 points

Oof, watch the speed typing there man. I spent six years of my life in Missouri, my brother also went there. Two things stand out in my memory: 1) Opening Day in 2004, Miguel Olivo hit a home run. While walking on the concourse one of their fans saw me and exclaimed "Holy shit a kid at one of our games! Can't get our own damn kids out here, but good for you guys." 2) Living there on my own from 2011-2017, there were magically a lot more fans once the latter half of 2014 hit. They stuck around for a year. Then suddenly they were gone again. Since 2000, the Royals have finished in the following place in the AL 14th: 1 time 13th: 6 times 12th: 4 times 11th: 4 times 10th: 1 time 8th: 1 time 6th: 2 times In that same time frame, the Sox: 13th: 3 times 12th: 3 times 10th: 2 times 9th: 3 times 8th: 1 time 7th: 3 times 6th: 1 time 5th: 2 ties 3rd: 1 time So to recoup, since 2000: 1) I also lived it, their fans were miserable outside of the WS seasons. 2) The Royals consistently drew worse, having never drawn as high as the Sox highest, and the Sox never drawing as low as the Royals lowest.3 points

Holy shit is that a threat from Dan Clark? Sure sounds like it.2 points

I can't be the only one that thinks the Sox are using Machado to sign Alonso to a long term deal.2 points

I wouldn't give this organization 1 penny of my money and I hope none of you will either, let this garbage for an organization move and someone else will come in who knows baseball and take advantage of what this great city offers, the White Sox and the bulls are just garbage, we do not deserve this bullshit.2 points

Exactly, it’s sketchy as fuck, but if it gets another $25M out of us or the Phillies it could be the most profitable follow in the history of social media.2 points
-
My one question would be why would he give away his decision by joining them on Instagram?2 points
-
I will say this, you’d think his agent would tell him not do anything revealing on social media until they’ve got something signed, sealed, & delivered. So either something is in the “finalizing” stages or they’ve stepped their plant game to another level.2 points

We’re roughly 45 days away from spring training and there are still a ton of free agents available. Baseball’s system is definitely broken.2 points

Alright, for some reason I feel like there could be a ton of pent up moves that get announced shortly after the holiday. Here’s my dream week for the White Sox: Wednesday: Kikuchi - 4/$38M (plus ~20% posting fee) Thursday: Ottavino - 2/$21M (w/ vesting 3rd year option) Friday: Machado - 10/$350M (opt-outs after years 4 & 6) Flame away!2 points

Here’s my legit, unbiased guess on what’s happening. I truly believe the Sox & Phillies are offering substantially more money than the Yankees. All else being equal, Manny would love to go to New York and has told people as much, but is unlikely to leave big money on the table. I’m guessing Dan Clark had heard the former from someone close to Machado and is simply exaggerating the certainty of him joining the Yankees because most people think it’s his likely landing spot and he has an opportunity to be the “first to report”. I’m also going to guess offers are not truly final and that Manny is thinking through how much money he’s willing to pass on to play in New York. I would imagine there is still some last minute gamemanship to take place.2 points

You haven't given the rebuild a chance. It's been 2 years. I agree if the rebuild doesn't work they need to clean house. But you need to give a total rebuild a chance to succeed. Changing it in mid process wont help. They need to see if they prospects will indeed work. If not it's going to be another 5 years of the same process with another FO. Build with just FA is not a winning formula.2 points

Social media is the way of the world now and it’s why you see bloggers breaking news and Cuban baseball players dropping hints to where they will sign with an IG pic, ala Luis Robert.1 point

Actually, social media needs fixed. As in, people should stop using it so they can act like people again.1 point

Jeez man have a drink lol. If we sign a whale it's just a bonus. If not we continue with the rebuild. I'll be a Sox fan until I die. Regardless of bad coaches, players, fo, or owners.1 point

In all fairness if the dudes heart is set on NY and the money is around the same, can you really blame the guy? I’m in the camp that I believe it’s a done deal and yes it will be a bummer if we will miss out on him because I think he’s the only one out of the big two that we could actually land but by far is not the end of the world.1 point

What an advantage it has clearly been for these West Coast teams to have all the Japanese talent fall in to their laps because of their proximity to Japan.1 point

Yeah, let me go call Scott and see if he can provide me some examples.1 point

Like the week before Christmas when he suddenly followed Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley and one of the other Phils right after his visit there and we saw posts about how that meant he was going to Philly and someone actually convinced me to scroll through who he follows on Instagram to see if it was unusual and I still want that time back?1 point

I would totally do that if the Yankees weren’t offering me what I was worth...:)1 point

Remember when Delmonico had a Instagram post and Harper liked it then signed with the Sox? Lol, me either. This is weak. Folks are acting like ESPN is breaking in their program to announce the signing. Relax he might just be trolling folks to see their reactions and laughing with friends at a party.1 point

Maybe because he isn't a bright individual and has done well in life by his athletic abilities?1 point

I disagree in this case. If somehow the Sox swing and miss on Manny. They are gonna throw everything at Bryce.1 point

Lol exactly, imagine if some of the fans negotiated his contract. By the time they get done reading Twitter he would have a 20 year 1 billion dollar deal. Relax, and enjoy the night.1 point

I've been saying this for a while. It doesn't make sense to trade talent from the MLB roster or finish gutting their already weak MiLB system just to sign Harper who may not match the level of production they'd be trading away and will probably leave when Bryant leaves anyway because I don't see how they can afford both of them while still remaining competitive (ie paying Rizzo, Baez, Q, Hendricks, etc.) That's not to say the Cubs aren't trying to do this, but I can't imagine they're going to be successful. And if somehow they manage to swing this I don't see that team being any better than they are right now.1 point
-
I think I’ve asked you this before, but are you Theo Epstein? Why in the world would the Sox want to “capitulate” Harper to the Cubs? Like you keep pushing this angle and it’s just an absolutely terrible idea and then you support it with horrible trade proposals for the Sox. If you’re not Theo then you must be Jed, because I can’t for life of me figure out why you want to help the Cubs so badly while at the same time making us an even bigger joke.1 point
-
The question is how does that make them better? Trading their depth to unload Heyward to then pay Harper $40M per year seems like a net decrease in the grand scheme of things, especially when they have one of the worst farm systems in all of baseball.1 point
-
Yes. At this point, I'll just take going to the game thinking they should win that day.1 point

I'll accept if he misses on both but has a plan to bring in some controllable talent. Making a panic move and trading for Encarnacion would be the nail in the coffin, IMO. It would show a stunning lack of preparation and market awareness.1 point
