  3. Still wow at the fact of adding a 30M dollar player only puts them at the 110M mark, really would like them to finish this with Manny and go hard for Harper

  10. No one is stalking you. But you have been one of the most skeptical and even negative posters against this regime. You already had your fire Hahn posts ready after the Dan Clark tweets, and claiming MM to Yankees was a done deal, just because they are the Yankees and we are the White Sox. Yet you were giving people hard time for falling for any pro-Sox tweets. And then there’s all the crap posts about Sox’s biggest contract being Abreu and there is no way we even have a shot in this race. Quit living in the past if you don’t want to get roasted, realize thing are changing and that this FO is giving the effort to turn the franchise around and change its perception. We’re only 2 years into the rebuild and we were off to a good start, give Hahn a chance before bringing out the ax , buddy.

  13. We're at the point now where if we don't land either one, we deserve to be livid as fans. At least one should be falling into our lap. Signing neither is not an option for this organization.

  14. This thread sucks this morning. More Machado less Tatis plz.

  15. Rather than trade Madrigal prematurely, you could do what the actual good clubs do, and utilize this player with great baseball IQ around the diamond and just have 4 great players when they would have only had 3. Madrigal is great because he can accommodate you.

  16. Lol...no one is picking a team based on how interesting the other teams in their league are.

  19. What can I say, I'm just that good lol If this follows my line of thought from the mystery team, Machado probably signs this weekend or Monday. Assuming there isn't actually a mystery team (which I don't think there is), he needs to have the Phillies still in the running so he has to sign before Harper, but he will probably want to hear what Harper is getting offered first to know if he can try to get another increase.

  23. You're missing substantial fractions of the rule. The Nats paid the tax last year, so at minimum they would be paying 30%. They're right up against the tax right now, so if the Nats signed harper to 10/$326, they'd be about $30 million over, and their total cost for Harper next year would be over $40 million counting the payroll and a $10 million tax fee, and that's assuming they add no one else. They would also be within striking distance of being $40 million over, and if they signed harper to a $400 million deal that might well push them into the higher tier, making a 1 year cost go above $50 million. And for good measure

  27. Please, everyone pretend like Tatis was never in the Sox org, because he really wasn't. It is easier that way. They fucked up, shit happens. They traded a 17 YO and he blew up.

  30. I agree, let’s keep non Machado stuff out of this thread. If you want to talk music or Tatis or anything else, I think another thread or PM is more appropriate. I’m rather new but that’s my two cents

  31. I'm still angry that trade wasn't reversed by MLB because of the medical scandal.

  32. This is just plainly false. Among qualified hitters he wouldn't have even lead (or finished last?) the major leagues in GB%. Ian Desmond, Eric Hosmer, Jon Jay(!), and Jonathan Villar all had higher ground ball rates than Madrigal did last year in the minors. If you drop the PAs to 170, which Madrigal would have qualified for he drops to 13th just ahead of Dee Gordon. Looking at the list of the highest ground ball rates is not exactly a who's who of the best hitters in baseball, but Lorenzo Cain, Juan Soto, and Christian Yelich all had 50% ground ball rates. Madrigal's 55.4% coming off a broken wrist in his first taste of pro ball isn't alarming to me.

  34. Tim Anderson has the tools to be a top tier defensive SS. No one else in the Sox system can say that. He has great range and a cannon of an arm. He keeps getting better at it. I absolutely hate the idea of moving Timmy off of SS for an inferior defensive player.

  37. When I get up in the morning to get ready for work, I stare at my phone before picking it up and plead with the baseball gods that this is it. This was gonna be the night that the Sox did it. Manny agreed to terms with the Sox and all I had to do was hit refresh from where I left off before bed and party with you guys. Every single day I am sadder than the previous day. I have faith in Hahn and company, but right now, I'm a pretty sad and pathetic excuse for a functioning member of society.

  40. Ok, there's a trick here now that I'm only just catching - ESPN is using a Gb/FB rate that includes line drives as air outs, while MLB.com is not including line drives as air outs. HOWEVER, MILB.com is unclear on which it is using. If MILB is successfully breaking out line drives for A ball players, then you're right, and Madrigal's #s are poor but not the worst in the league. I didn't catch this beforehand. BUT - if MILB.com's statistics are lumping together anything hit in the air, including line drives, as air outs, then the # being reported by MILB.com would compare correctly to the big league number reported by ESPN, not to the number reported by MLB.com that has subtracted out line drives. If I had to guess - a traditional score table from an A ball game will show ground balls versus anything in the air, but will not break out line drives. I could darn well be wrong on this, but I did not catch this previously and MILB.com doesn't say whether their air outs # has included line drives or not.

  42. Yep. The kid had alot going on last year with being such a highly touted drafted, long college season that lead to another championship and dealt with an injury. To judge him based on his first few months of pro ball would be foolish.

  44. To me it's just too much movement. Hopefully, Manny signs, plays 3B, keeps TA at SS, keep Moncada at 2B. If Moncada's issues persist, and Madrigal is pushing at the door, maybe move him to CF. Or if TA takes a step back, then move him to CF and play musical chairs. I would guess they would want to sort this out as quickly as possible, and hopefully eventually either TA or Moncada is going to have to play the OF or 1B. That would mean Madrigal has developed and Manny is in the fold.

  45. Man, they don’t even try anymore. Shit website gets even shittier.

  46. I agree. It's not only crazy, it's foolish. Let's hope that it isn't really an issue. In any case, you would think that the topic would be discussed, before signing him. An infield of Machado at 3RD, T. A. at SS and either Moncada, or Madrigal at 2ND, could be defensively elite.
