Catching up in this tread, I just realized every single day is the same: People wake up pisssd off that nothing has happened Several people then claim things are quiet because it’s “the calm before the storm” Posters get desperate and start posting blantantly obvious troll posts “it’s probably nothing, but anyone see this [John] tweet?” Sidebars start ensuring about riveting subjects such as model trains, favorite movie in the Pitch Perfect franchise, etc. Posters start getting desperate again and ask the board insiders for any nuggets, eventually one will show up but only provides vague, semi-positive comments like “be patient, things are happening” Caulfield posts a random article without a link and not in a quote box and proceeds to add his own commentary throughout People start getting really pissed about the lack of momentum and say Rick is an incompetent dick and that cheap Jerry should move the franchise to Portland Finally a rumor comes out from a twitter account with a blue check mark, the board completely loses its shit no matter if good or bad If positive, mock lineups are immediately generated (half with Harper); if negative several posters admit defeat & feel compelled to say we must “stay the course” Bob Nightengale tweets out within 30 minutes “sorry, but that’s not true!”; the board calls him a hack and then debates endlessly who planted what Nothing else happens for a few hours, but some posters remain optimistic something will break later that night and make it clear they’re sticking around Finally the day ends with no real news, but one poster makes the bold prediction “tomorrow will be the day” before we all call it quits for the night Wake up the next day and rinse & fucking repeat. I pray to the baseball gods that by the time I catch up there will be some legit rumors, because I honestly can’t take this endless cycle much longer.16 points

He's at Hahn's house, and they are both laughing their asses off at us. "Dude, call Nightengale and tell him you only offered me 5 years." Giggling like a schoolgirl, "That's awesome. Give me the phone."7 points

Hey guys, longtime lurker and finally made an account for Manny Mannia. I’ve heard from a reliable source that Manny to the Sox is pretty much done. Source is someone that works with the big boss directly. There’s always the off chance if blows up so don’t throw a riot or jump off a bridge if it doesn’t work out. Not doing this to impress anyone or piss anyone off, mainly to share the news I was fortunate enough to get. I’m glad the peavy era is over, I lost more brain cells reading those comments than the one time I took 3 shots in a row of Malort with my Mizzou pals when they visited.6 points

Basically someone who deals with the numbers of the contract. Not saying who but there are whispers that this was their plan all along. Supposedly they knew they had a really good grasp on Manny so they went hard at Harper at the beginning and let the Phillies spend more time on Manny and focus less on Harper. Now the Phillies are playing catch up. Possible endgame is Manny, Harper and a pitcher5 points

Your contributions are always welcome here. You're OK in my book, Jack. ?5 points

Dude, You're lucky I wasn't offended and I caught the implied sarcasm. If I thought you were serious I wouldn't have responded the way I did. Shack and Tony know what I deal with on a regular basis, and I appreciate them looking out for me. I've always put myself out there about having high functioning autism, and I hope you understand that my negativity is a coping mechanism for dealing with everyday life. Also, I tend to be gullible so I have to have my guard up at all times in order to protect myself. Naturally, I think that people are out to help others, and I have to put on that facade to protect myself from being taken advantage of.5 points

RE: Nightengale - Jack there are several enlightening posts in this thread to inform you exactly why he's so involved and what purpose Bob serves. Hint: It ain't his journalism skills...5 points

It's not that complicated. If the offer(s) aren't compelling the discussions would be over.5 points

^^^we have a winner. This is almost ridiculous watching people freak out over tweets. The Sox will not regressive bargin - offer less than they have. That is a recipe for agents shunning them in future. They are working on this as we speak. Quit freaking out.5 points

Nightingale is Reinsdorf’s go to guy. In negotiations you want to create urgency and worry that your market maybe evaporating. That tweet accomplished it. Yes Reinsdorf is a good negotiator.5 points

I wear my emotions on my sleeves, ok? This is my release where I don't have to put on the neurotypical show. I left the closet so to speak so I could actually be myself on here, which I wasn't earlier in my posting years. I have roughly 3800 posts on this forum, have been a member since 11/2005 and I think I had around 5-600 posts as recently as 2013 or 2014. I've probably made like 70% of my posts in the last 2-3 years, since I came out of the closet. I know that has the connotation of being LGBTQ, but it is used in the autism community as well.4 points

Sorry Chili can't agree. I haven't said anything to the billion other poster who talk of it being exhausting and tedious. I find it invigorating. I mean what could be more exciting than the Sox being in on a huge talent ? Not a prospect but an actual young MLB superstar. I love it. I wish it would happen every year.4 points

"Well, again Scott, there has been no collusion between the Reinsdorf campaign and Phillies or Reinsdorf and Phillies. No collusion. When I watch you interviewing all the people leaving their committees, I mean, the Harpado’s are all running for free agent contracts, trying to say this that -- but bottom line, they all say there's no collusion. And there is no collusion... ...But again I'll speak to attorneys -- I can only say this, there was absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it. So it was brought up for that reason. But it has been determined that there is no collusion and by virtually everybody. So we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. I mean certainly we'll see what happens -- when they have no collusion and nobody's found any collusion at any level it seems unlikely that you'd even have an interview."4 points

The reason for no tweets today is becauase both sides are at the negotiation table so neither side is freely available to put their narrative out for the media mouthpieces3 points

Mr. Reinsdorf calls up Philly. JR says let me tell you a story Philly. Christmas time and 2 daddys want dolls for their daughter. Only 2 dolls left. One putz tries to buy both dolls for $100. Next guy is pissed off and says I’ll buy both for $200. Bidding goes all the way up to $1000 for frickin dolls. They both end up getting one doll for $500. They could have both had one doll for $50. Gotta go. I have an appointment with a free agent 3rd basemen.3 points
