  1. And all on three pitches!

  2. I hope this team sets records this year... ...for worst attendance. People need to stay away from this joyless, soul-sucking franchise until there is change.

  3. I'd settle for acquiring some middle tier posters.

  4. Not sure I will ever bother with a FA wishlist again. Hahn and company will definitely have to blow me away with some shrewd moves before I have any hope in them again. I still can’t shake this disappointing off season for the life of me. I would really like to be excited as I usually am this time of year but it’s not there. I’m pissed off.

  5. Hahn’s offseason has been awful. He replaced young mediocre players with older and/or more expensive mediocre players. Just terrible. I’d rather have stuck with Kevan Smith, Avisail Garcia, and Matt Davidson than paid $15.5 million to the pile of crap that is McCann, Jay, and Alonso.

  6. The problem is false prophets like this using that book to their own political advantage. This is the same people 150 years ago who used the bible to justify enslavement of the millions of people. These are the same people who commit all of the other sins in the bible on a daily basis, and never say anything about it, even though the bible is clear on who the ultimate judge is and what ANY sin means to your future. These are the same people who would have executed people for a heliocentric solar system view in the not to distant past. These are the same people who executed witches. But let's ignore all of that and be upset about the gays having a recruiting night, even though there is zero scientific evidence for that lie.

  7. It's not a communicable disease, a condition, or most importantly a CHOICE. It is what these people are, just like any heterosexual people are. You don't make that decision at some point in your life, you know what you are.

  8. You can want to sign Kimbrel all you want, but just a reminder of the odds you are facing for it to actually happen: https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/team/front-office

  9. Being gay is not a communicable disease. This is 2019, can we get past this incredibly basic lie?

  11. Now this I don't understand. He is taking a lot of abuse for his beliefs and there are a lot of people left in the world who believe those things. Not me I have 2 gay brothers. You ask him to be tolerant yet we cannot be tolerant. He is not hateful nor advocating any violence but the posts attacking him are mocking him and abusive. Just because majority rules here and on this subject doesn't mean the majority has the right to abuse his beliefs no matter how antiquated his thinking appears to be.

  12. Very interesting that the site has lost so much funding because of our team headed to another horrific season in terms of wins and losses. Very sad that our team has hit rock bottom. Our division is there for the tanking, but noooooooo we have to have this long period of tanking. Very sad. Like I've said zillions of times, the Sox front office should lower prices big time this season. Copy Atlanta and have 2 dollar hot dogs and beers all season or something like that.

  13. Yes. They are 26. Harper could average about 5 war a year the next 5 years (until he's 31) and hed have the same career WAR as Mike Cameron. Both guys have a lot to prove and do before you can call them 1st ballot hall of famers. Harper has 180 career homers. Could both become it? Sure but it's less likely that they arent both 1st ballot hofers than it is that they are.

  14. So, you LOL at Harper and Machado as first ballot HOFers? Just checking. LOL.

  15. Glad to see you posting here 378 but your views on gay tolerance are from another era. At least consider the possibility that many people feel they were in fact born gay. I am sure we can move on from this.

  17. And it won’t get any better when you have to watch Jon Jay & Yonder Alonso in the starting lineup most days.

  18. Overall, I'm a big believer in Moncada and Eloy. Obviously, they both have absurd skill sets that limit their floors. After that, I'd like to see a full season this year of LuBob where he stays healthy, and hits about .280-.300 with 15-20 homeruns. It will be interesting to see his stolen base totals at the end of the season. I'm really not sure about Madrigal yet, need to see how he performs in his first full year of pro ball. The 2016 and 2017 first round picks I won't even touch on. On the pitching side of things, after Cease and Dunning, I really do not see that much upside other than innings eaters in the minors. Maybe take the best arm you could get at 3 if Vaughn or Rutschman aren't available when we pick? On the Major League Roster, I like Rodon to take a big step forward this year, but I've been thinking he'd do that for years now. This is a make or break year for him. Lopez should be a good 3/4 for years to come. Giolito is just meh. All in all, I think the Sox need big steps forward on the pitching side of things this year to get a better outlook of what we have.

  19. It's true, you just refuse to believe it. You are wrong, I'm sorry you are because it is a terrible way to go through life projecting your bigotry on others and using a 2000+ year old book as the basis

  20. That's not true, God doesn't make people gay, although he can allow some to fight the cross of same sex attraction. That is not something God causes but is the result of original sin. We all fight disordered attractions of some sort, we are human, but giving into these attractions is a sin. So ultimately it's a choice whether or not someone gives into same sex attractions and is gay. It's not like race where one is born into the color of their skin where they have no choice. It can be much more complex since now as we can see homosexuality is normalized by society, and in some instances people fight same sex attractions because they were physically sexually abused, or mentally abused. But homosexuality (giving into homosexuality) and homosexual acts is a sin condemned by the Scriptures.

  22. What middle tier relief pitchers are available next offseason? Because realistically, all the Sox are going to get are RP on short term deals that are going to be flippable at the deadline due to being a 90 loss team again. Can’t wait to see tweets saying Rick Hahn is a genius for acquiring more Ryan Cordell’s

  23. In fairness to sss, it’s clear their trouble is due to prioritizing paying their writers which is something vox avoids like the plague. Good on the individual editor for trying to do that. I support a lot of Sox media and hopefully their community can find ways to keep them on that mission, but vox will just get people to write for free if they fail.

  24. Don't think so. Sunday- webcast Monday- MLB Network Tuesday vs Sea- webcast, vs KC MLB Network wed morning Wednesday- MLB Network at midnight Starting next Friday, there's a lot of NBCSC and WGN games leading up to opening day.

  25. As someone in the media industry - Vox Media is much more responsible for killing South Side Sox.

  26. I'm surprised that SouthsideSox is in trouble. I've always thought that WSI would go down the tubes before anybody else.

  27. I don’t wish anyone to lose their jobs (if sbnation even pays anyone there which isn’t guaranteed), but when Jim left there was no reason to go to south side Sox and there are plenty of options for Sox content. Had sbnation tried and found a good site lead it probably would have survived, but as it is it’s not at the same level as other Sox blogs.

  28. How many teams have studs as 4th and 5th starters? When was the last time the Sox had 5 studs? And if they realized they could pitch just as many innings, but face the opponents top hitters one time less.

  29. So... what good pitcher is going to sign up to be a long reliever and destroy his earning potential? I'll give you a hint. None of them.

  30. No offense, but Thompson, Narvaez and Saladino are not very good. I won't offend the Leury and Yolmer lovers by saying they are nothing to write home about. This list isn't exactly a great list of stud big leaguers.

  32. Boy the thread title is not kidding with the "enter at your own risk". How did we get into a bashing of Gay Pride day at the ballpark? It is actually a pretty cool tradition all around major league baseball.

  33. When you talk about homosexuality exposure to kids as if it were a communicable disease, yes, you are demonstrating hate, not the love that was Christ's greatest commandment of all.

  34. This is one of the most staggering posts I have ever seen on this site. Like the words you’ve written don’t make a lick of sense and it simply comes across as a mildly insane “I hate homosexuals” rant.

  35. Again, if you really believe that, and are going to drag everyone who feels differently about it, this is the wrong website for you. Soxtalk is not an anti-gay website in any way, shape or form.

  36. I can tell you 100% that you are probably in the wrong place on the internet if you are going to attack people who support gay rights. I know you are new here and all, but I am going to be honest and up front with you and come out and say that you might have made the wrong choice for a Sox spot on the internet.

  37. I implore you to reconsider this fine idea, I hate to break it to you but you aren't going to change shit.

  38. Probably could have just waited and signed McCann (or someone else) to a minor league deal. If you're going to spend a few mill and guarantee an MLB spot, might as well have just signed Maldonado.

  39. This is how I remember it. They were probably trying to sneak him back to AAA to open a 40 man spot and LAAAA claimed him.

  40. Ask the PR dept if they'll have a dedicated anti-gay section in the park where you guys can smash some people that get too close maybe?

  41. With this front office, that’s an insurmountable number unless you defer half of it and add incentives.

  42. Me neither. I loved how they played smartly with the international pool to snag Abreu and Robert. The only really had to outbid the Cardinals on Robert since the other large market teams were out of the bidding per MLB rules. I really thought that they played their cards so well. They unloaded all of those bad contracts or let them expire. They had the perfect free agency class. Two premium talents about to enter their primes. All of the large market teams capped out, saving salary for their young core, or a financial mess (Mets). They only had to outbid the Phillies and Padres when the White Sox payroll was so south of $100 MM that it hurt. The stars were perfectly aligned, and the White Sox f***** it up. This one hurt, and, unless they can sign a Trout, Bryant, Betts, or Bregman, I will not be getting over this any time soon. Unless, of course, all of the White Sox prospects come up and produce like the Cubs and Astros prospects did.

  43. This is spot on, there’s nobody in next year’s free agency class that I want, you use that money for the big guns even though the Sox will just end up finishing in 2nd every time. I don’t want them touching any of the junk next year. And with that being said they’ll overpay for some aging bum next year only to say “hey we spend the money”. They screwed up this offseason and deserve to be destroyed for it. I for one will not forgive them for blowing this offseason.

  44. No, that is the truth look at their twitter accounts. They both posted almost the exact same thing, "a modern day lynching" as she was trying to pass the anti-lynching bill. Smollett has also been photographed marching with Harris. There is nothing partisan about what I said. Edit: And no it's not disingenuous, I have seen dozens of these types of stories the last 2 years that turn out to be hoaxes.

  45. Because he wanted to gain notoriety for being a victim of "Trumps Hate". Just like all of the other dozens of fake hate crimes over the last 2 years. Also check out his friendship with Corey Booker and Kamala Harris, who at the time was proposing an anti-lynching bill. They both tweeted about this story.
