  1. Was Dunning one of they guys that KW was worried about having to pay in 5-6 years? Him and JR are probably breathing a little easier now.

  2. I just can't see how some expert wouldn't be able to tell if a 6 year old was lying. especially about this particular subject. I get it's very delicate, but even if a parent put them up to it, the vast majority of 6 year olds eventually telegraph they are lying about the simple things. This is a bit more complicated.

  3. This thread is irrelevant. If the Sox were to sign him, he'd just end up with Tommy John Surgery, within a week. So what's the point.

  4. It just goes to show you that there is hope for the future when you put someone in charge who actually knows what they're doing.

  5. The only thing I don't like about this is that they are doing all these changes at once so it will be difficult to correctly attribute the causes of the different results.

  6. You must enjoy all of Anderson's errors and all the other bad play committed by Hahn's stalwart stars. Such is the excellence of his talent evaluations.

  7. Thanks. I was a little rattled by that guy's reaction for most of the day, but in the end I know what I believe about the subject and I don't need the validation of a random poster that I've never met, who completely misunderstood what I said, to help me sleep at night. I'll be ok, and I can brush it off.

  15. This is by far the least excited I have seen the fanbase in the several years I have been on Twitter. Sad but not surprising.

  16. Same. I haven't watched a single Spring Training highlight yet. That goes for any team.

  17. So put me on ignore. Very simple. Maybe you’re not interested in how an owner deciding not to interfere (finally) with his front office personnel and let them handle running the player evaluation and development has worked wonders for the Cleveland Browns, but 2-3 posters brought it up previously and argued they were much more relevant that the Sox. Maybe you dont follow the sport, know who Odell Beckham is, frankly, no idea. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26243093/grading-odell-beckham-jr-trade-giants-browns-won The NY Football Giants have already somehow outdone the Sox in worst offseason, ever. At any rate, I seem to recall page after page in one of the baseball threads analyzing the Bulls, for example. Life is too short to care about such little, insignificant things. There’s an ignore button for a reason. If you’re just going for cheap shots to get more likes on your board scorecard, I feel bad for you, but stalking posters from thread to thread and making personal attacks over and over again doesn’t contribute much. The board has already lost a lot of contributors since the Machado/Harper debacles. For example, I don’t have any recollection for what your plan is to get us out of this mess. Which free agents would you target next year? Maybe take an interesting/debate worthy position or two...

  18. I guess the moral of the story is there are consequences pleading guilty to crimes. Some even include future employment. If he was a great accountant, I doubt anyone would be outraged if KPMG failed to consider him based on his past. This is no different.

  19. He wants to you believe the 6 year old made everything up, or her mother did, and brainwashed the kid so well, her story would hold up, so he had no choice but to plead quilty even though he did nothing wrong. I suppose it is possible, but not very probable. There is really no reason to take a chance on this guy at all.

  20. I haven't even gotten the bounce. I'll probably get it opening day tho. I feel badly for Fegan. I know he's getting paid but man, what a depressing team to cover outside Eloy.

  21. Kinda hard to believe the season starts for real in a few weeks. I almost felt like the season was cancelled after the Manny news but I guess they have to play 162 games anyways. How many any of us will watch however...

  24. Your assumptions and victim blaming of a six year old frankly disgust me, and I am not going to even entertain discussing this with you further. People like you are the reason that victims of molestation and sexual assault hide in the shadows.

  25. I think you are correct unless the mom planted it in the child's mind because it somehow helped with custody. That is easy to coach a kid into believing and saying. That being said....I think he's guilty.

  26. This is where I don't believe Heimlich. 6 year olds don't make up this kind of stuff, and they definitely don't make it up in enough detail to be able to get to the point where you can go to trial. I don't have any data in front of me, but knowing how small that false reports are for this kind of stuff in general, when you add in who the victim was, I have to imagine it is infinitesimal. The denial in this case just doesn't add up to me.

  27. I think at 3 I would prefer a guy with track record who did it all 3 years (like vaughn) and not a performance riser who figured it out this year. College season is short and there always is a chance a single season performer was a bit fluky.

  29. So Corey Ray is the reason the Brewers became a good team? You just present a correlation that does not exist. If moving the goalposts was an Olympic sport, you‘d be the favorite for the gold medal.

  30. I could not have said it better myself. After the Machado failure I have never been this disinterested and disgusted with the Sox in a long time. I will watch (but not with he same vigor) and hopefully Eloy brings some excitement along with Moncada but I am still so down on them I cant describe it. I cant seem to shake the Machado debacle. And i will NEVER EVER read another thread or story on " what free agents should we chase" in 2020. Does it really matter because we will never have a chance with a 26 year old superstar like we just had. Maybe i'm in the minority and hopefully i shake out of it with some good play by the young guys but at this point i'm not sure. And a few of my friends feel the exact way i do so maybe its just not me. To tell you the truth if i hear Hahn's voice talking about always on the lookout for "premium young talent " i might puke. Oh well just venting but it still doesn't make it better.

  31. 2006 would have been a wild card most years too just caught a super hot division. If they don't make at least the wild card 2-3 times over the next decade in this shit division they should just be relegated to a minor league team.

  37. Precisely why I can't muster any excitement for this team under its current owner/FO. All of the potential "star" assets the Sox currently have were acquired trading MULTIPLE HoF/insane contract players that are nearly impossible to have happen again like it did Best case over the next 10 years: Sox make the playoffs 2-3 times and maybe catch lightning in a bottle once for a real run. So invested in this shit franchise for so long and now I couldn't give less of a shit. FU Jerry

  38. I was talking strictly hitting. Here are ten hitters better than Machado and Harper and there may even be more: 1)Trout 2)Ramirez 3)Bregman 4)Betts 5)Rendon 6)JD Martinez 7)Altuve 8)Soto 8)Bryant 9)Lindor 10)Votto

  39. This argument would make a lot of sense if you said top five instead of top ten, were completely unaware of the players’ ages, and didn’t realize that defense exists.

  40. 1. You are creatively ignoring that Moncada was already in the Majors before he even reached the Sox, and that no team in baseball would have sent him back down 2 levels. 2. K-rates and size of ballpark have zero correlation. 3. An .823 OPS at AAA while playing 4.5 years younger than league average is far above "middling". 4. A player does not constitute a sample, and you also creatively ignore the fact that they have been conservative on most of the farm. 5. Is the stroke survivor line really necessary? It makes you sound like a meathead, which doesn't really help your case.
