Down 1-0 after half an inning. Outside of one pitch hit 600 feet he looks better, I guess2 points

Main thing with Giolito is he's at least missing some bats in between getting hammered on his mistakes. There's a clear Gavin Floyd comparison but it's becoming a very optimistic one.2 points

I don't really care about spring training Giolito. It has proven to be a false indicator before.2 points

???????????? I refuse to be blamed for this! I've had this name for years on WSI... besides... the Nardi era was torn labrums, right? If the prospects start tearing their labrums, I'll banish myself back to WSI.2 points

I count 16 player names in this post. Based on the title I am intrigued at what happens when divide DeGrom by an Asgardian and want to run this experiment.2 points

I think this is the first time we’ve ever agreed in Soxtalk history. No need to give him up if we weren’t filling his void with someone more established.2 points

I don't believe it. Well I guess rescinding criticism is not the same as actually being positive, so I would believe it. ?1 point

No hard questions , typical positive spring training answers. Felt like they talked mostly about the coming rule changes but I wasn't paying that close attention at that point.1 point

I tuned out after that, lotta like people are doing well. Name a player, they are doing well. Then he mentioned ADolfo would start season on opening day as DH and I listened.1 point

Are there specific HS guys they should have taken with those picks instead of the guys we should have selected? Instead of just whining about the approach, maybe cite some examples where we didn’t select the BPA and instead took a college player.1 point

Seriously. It's like people forgot about the banner curse or something. At least my guys I said are already damaged goods.1 point

Your votes have been rescinded (ie: changed to Rodon), thank you for your honesty. You've also been banned, next time follow the fucking rules.1 point
-
Same, except its making me pick someone from the last grouping. But Moncada, Eloy and Anderson should be the banner.1 point
-
You know, it'd make my life a whole hell of a lot easier if you jerks would stop voting for Eloy (who has not played a major league inning and was super shitty in spring training, so likely bad) and voted for Rodon instead.1 point

Anderson is a DFA candidate if he doesn't post a .360 OBP next year. Too risky of a choice.1 point

On the contrary, I think he's just really connected to players who have Dominican ties. That many of his tweets are Sox related is coincidental, IMO1 point

Sorry. They a getting good results. The basic advantage of the repair is that the tissue doesnt need to die then regenerate like in a reconstruction. So the time is greatly reduced. It needs to be a small tear because the repair needs a certain amount of viable tissue to reconnect during the healing process. The thing they dont know is that if the repair will hold up under the stress of the really hard throwers. The younger pitchers will have a better chance of healing than the older ones and the new way of pitching with throwing as hard as you can can for as long as you can isn't as drastic with high school level pitchers.1 point

He’s reporting what he heard though and was called out for it. I think his response is appropriate as there isn’t a fact to report here.1 point

Absolutely it's different. Those players were on a market. The sox doing nothing have ~7 years of control at relatively fixed costs and not guaranteed. They have no one to bid against, they already own those years. How much do you add to those costs for an additional year? This is quite a bit.1 point

I like all our prospects so much I hate giving any of them away right now. I do like Archer, but I cant see any deal working. Maybe, just maybe Basabe for Archer.1 point

And yet you said "if Jimenez’s fWAR is always going to be limited to the 3.5-4.5 range", so now by getting you to list players you've listed multiple players who clearly beat the range you set. Ergo, your initial statement is wrong. Thank you.1 point

Fine we have no prayer to get a really good FA pitcher because we just allocated all our money to Eloy Jimenez, so why not acquire one of four possible pitchers that might be available for various reasons before the trade deadline? Happy now...? Exciting stuff, for sure. Suggesting potential trades without mentioning realistic names is also quite thought-provoking.1 point

I got to disagree here. Nolan Arenado would have made roughly $50M to $55M over his seven years of team control had he competed the arbitration process this year. Josh Donaldson, a top 3 player in all of baseball and former MVP, made ~$57M in his seven controllable seasons. Kris Bryant, one of the most impactful young players and a former MVP winner, will have made $26M over his first five years of team control. If he can return to superstar form, he can probably beat the $52M guarantee I put together for Eloy by ~$15M or do (and that’s far from a guarantee). The point here is a $52M commitment is basically assuming Eloy is a top 10 player from the get-go. While that’s more than possible, he’ll need to hit like JD Martinez to get there because his defense will be non value add at best. For Eloy to lock that in prior to ever playing a pro game would be a huge coup for him IMO. Whether that’s worth sacrificing two free agency seasons is up for debate, but I simply can’t agree he’d be likely out-earn than $52M, especially when you consider his history of minor health issues.1 point

And yet in your line of stats you showed that Bryce Harper was the 4th worst right fielder in the league that year but still put up a 10 win season. You can't have it both ways sir, you quoted the stats yourself.1 point

The luxury tax implications don’t matter here because we won’t be going above $200M in payroll while Reinsdorf is still alive. Also, front-loading a contract never makes sense due to the time value of money. We’d be better off taking any excess cash, investing it at some rate of return, and effectively paying less in the future.1 point

Get ready for some Greg anger: Avi!! Avi!! Avi!! The guy is a hard worker and just hit a bomb. Makes absolutely no sense to give up on Avi when he's blocking nobody.
