At this point, some White Sox fans are like the husbands that b**** about their wives for 3 decades, 24 hours a day.4 points

No, petty is going from thread to thread posting unrelated nonsense and ruining them for no good reason. This and the 8 myths thread are great examples.3 points

Look, this may not sit well with some but I tell it like it is, given that these players are making ungodly amounts of money (we're talking millions here, folks) to play a CHILDREN'S GAME fines aren't gonna mean jackshit to these soft-palmed millennial sissies. Fining Daniel Palka a few grand for turning the wrong way on a fly ball isn't gonna make a dent in his fortnight emote spending account, the ONLY way to get through to this generation of players is a simple, time honored, glorious technique: SPANKINGS. James McCann poorly frames a pitch? Ricky slaps that ass red. Giolito fails to repeat his delivery on back to back pitches? Ricky's bent knee is waiting for him at his locker and it's not for a show of deference, it's for a dang SPANKING. Yolmer dumps a cooler of perfectly potable water over his head like some kind of psychopath (I'm positive he hasn't even read the water bill)? Buddy, you better believe that's a SPANKING.2 points

BaltaPositiveBot is back? it's like the Twilight Zone around here, with all the group thinking that this proposed extension somehow is in the best interest of the White Sox. Stockholm Syndrome? The only plausible explanation is maybe the bot fried or shortcircuited when forced to read 15 names in a single post of mine then then another ten in one of yours?2 points

If we have the money I would definitely sign him very soon. He will bring fan interest for sure and just in case we somehow compete for playoffs....... He would be a big piece of that.2 points

That’s all fine and good. If you want to publicly campaign to block or ignore someone, more power to you, but it’s petty. I think there are quite a few posters who have never blocked anyone. But how about you publish a list of the Top Ten most blocked/ignored posters, surely that will make me want to run away and hide in exile on a Padres’ board, lol. Let’s see these purported stats if you’re going to make an assertion like that (who is “most,” the moderating team?)...it’s only fair when you make a blanket or general statement. How about this, all those who have me on ignore/block, I’d be happy to return the same courtesy,1 point

Are you really expecting that out of a Spring Training game in 2019? If the answer is no, and you are just looking for a reason to complain again, the answer here is clear. I would think at 54 you would have better things to do than to try to be miserable about a game that literally doesn't matter.1 point

It was me. The odds of me apologizing are about a billion to one. Next.1 point

Probably not better than Alonso. I know everyone hates Alonso, but he is a much Better player than most here want to give him credit for1 point

Sure, but it makes no sense to pay for a Kimbrel when his best two remaining 30+ years will be devoted to a non competitive team. There are way too many holes at more important spots to cover first, and the White Sox have never devoted top dollar to closer recently, other than Koch and Robertson. He makes a lot more sense to teams like the Red Sox, Cubs and Braves with suspect bullpens on a short-term deal. If you’re going to win with a dominant bullpen it needs to be done from internally (cost controlled prospects), not at market FA rates.1 point
-
Or the back 3-4 of their bullpen. Zimmer, If healthy, is maybe a 1-1.5 fWAR downgrade from Brantley...but certainly has the potential to outproduce him. CarGo, Martin and Zimmer certainly sounds a lot better than what they looked like two months ago. We can even argue that taking Alonso’s deal off their hands partially contributed to this low-risk signing.1 point

Why the heck did Hahn give Jon Jay $4 million guaranteed? Awful. I’d rather have CarGo right now for less than Jay.1 point
-
Without Paddy and KW, they wouldn’t have had Avi Garcia, Jose Abreu, Luis Robert and Fernando Tatis, Jr. Nearly every FA idea that Hahn has put together has gone dreadfully awry. The “friends and family” plan for Machado will go down Top 5 in modern Sox (disappointment) history unless Manny’s career completely falls apart. To summarize, still not convinced of even one thing that Hahn is personally responsible for...on the positive side of the ledger. Everything is Hostetler’s fault (drafting), strength and conditioning (injuries) or minor league development (Getz/coaching staff)...or JR being cheap or a cutthroat businessman with twin agendas. He sucks at his job. It’s not KW’s fault for “meddling.” The buck stops with the GM. If he has limited authority, have some self-respect and go somewhere else where you can actually sell your vision of fiduciary responsibility and carrying water for ownership.1 point

Ah time to bring back the old trademark: Rick Hahn's Decisions can't possibly be Rick Hahn's Fault ™1 point

If it's guaranteed then of course not, but the guarantee would probably be something close to $30 million - that's still unprecedented but totally reasonable for this player. Frankly, if he wanted $100 million guaranteed, I'll put $100 million guaranteed through 2029 on the table right now too.1 point

Maybe Hector Gomez is getting paid a kickback by the front office for attempting to make the Sox look more generous than the really are in actuality...of course, if it’s all a fake plant, it’s going to really piss off Eloy and his agent.1 point

He could still be called up before the season starts technically without burning an option couldn't he ? Who gets the mystery injury ? Palka with the hammy seems likely.1 point

I am so tired of people ragging on Sheets... If he develops game power he is a starting 1b in the future. He has the power and he just needs to translate it to the game... He is a great hitter who has put in the work on his fielding and won his leagues gold glove.1 point

This is funny. Why would anyone believe Levine over Gomez is beyond me. Levine brutally wrong about denying Sox manny offer.1 point

Got it now. I think the increased offense of Jay and Jimenez will be worth this downgrade. The defense will go down but overall WAR will go up.1 point

Only the White Sox can downgrade defensively when they rid themselves of Avi. impressive.1 point

https://mobile.twitter.com/whitesox/status/1105993145668517890 Is Jose really going to be the starter at 1st this year? Yonder is the better fielder of the two, and I have to imagine playing him at 1st will bolster his trade value. Abreu is such a butcher out there that he is injuring himself from deflections.... It is time to shift him to DH. It is long past that time, actually.1 point

Gay pride night isn't about promoting homosexuality, it's about promoting the ACCEPTANCE of people who live different lifestyles, and if you don't understand that, it's a shame that you're in a position to influence children, because developing sympathy and respect for others in a community is a critical point of development for kids. You probably think you're being the reasonable one by saying that you respect others' points of view, but it's tragically ironic that standing up against Gay Pride night is LITERALLY standing up against respecting others' points of view.1 point

That element definitely exists in American society, though, whether we want to admit it or not (look no further than the "gay pride" discussion, and the fact that "four-in-ten Americans (42%) said that being gay or lesbian is “just the way some choose to live,” while a similar share (41%) said that “people are born gay or lesbian,” according to the most recent Pew Research Center poll on the issue, conducted in 2013. http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/03/06/americans-are-still-divided-on-why-people-are-gay/ As far as anti-Semitism, look no further than the ongoing campaign/character assassination against George Soros, for one. Go back to Charlottesville and the chants. Heck, even Sheryl Sandberg of Facebook actively participated in it by attempting to frame his as the villain leading a global cabal to take over the world. Of course, sophisticated posters (and most Sox fans, for that matter) can make a distinction between a "cheap front office" and someone's ethnicity, but the lines have definitely blurred in recent years. It's the reason we don't have Filibuster anymore at SoxTalk, because everything is about "sides/partisanship," the other side is evil incarnate/the enemy/racists/intolerant or "doesn't love their country/isn't patriotic/socialist/anti-American" or whatever particular label fits that day. If we go through another tease of an off-season in 2019-20 after finishing with a win column number below 60 this year, it's going to get REALLY ugly. Unfortunately, it feels like the worst MAY yet still be to come.1 point

Glad to see you posting here 378 but your views on gay tolerance are from another era. At least consider the possibility that many people feel they were in fact born gay. I am sure we can move on from this.1 point
-
Having zero tolerance for lack of tolerance? Yup, that’s irony.1 point
-
True. And all people are welcome to the game, and anyone can do bad things at the game, but what I don't agree with is the promotion of "pride night," for all the reasons I described.1 point
-
Remember anyone that disagrees with this crowd is a bigot, homophobe, etc etc. My point is having a "gay pride" night is showing scandal. If I bring my kids I am going to have to explain to them something that's not appropriate at the ball park, and if kids go with friends or others they can be led astray. There are rainbow flags. In other ball parks there has been kiss cams where two people of the same sex kiss. If we are talking about violence against a group of people why not just have a anti-violence day?1 point
-
Boy the thread title is not kidding with the "enter at your own risk". How did we get into a bashing of Gay Pride day at the ballpark? It is actually a pretty cool tradition all around major league baseball.1 point

Im gonna weigh in here. I think you are really going about this the wrong way, and you need to be careful with what you say and how you say it. There are people out there who have committed suicide because of these kinds of things. I am assuming you are a Christian based on what you said earlier about holding Gospel values. That's fine. I'm a Christian too, and quite frankly, I disagree with the act of homosexuality, just like you do. I, however, do not think people engaging in homosexual acts are evil people. I also think the White Sox are not celebrating the act pf homosexuality, as you are implying, but rather celebrating the people that are affected by it. People who identify with homosexuality have been abused, manipulated and treated like dogs for so long, and that is so wrong. The thing is, this is SUCH a sensitive topic, that you really have to be careful with how you approach these kinds of issues, no matter what you believe. To be honest with you, as a Christian, the gay pride night might be a perfect venue for you, as a christian, to talk to these people, get to know them, and hear their story. In fact, that is exactly the kind of thing that Jesus did.1 point
-
Once again just because I dont support "gay pride" doesnt mean I hate anyone or want to hurt anyone. Would you be satisfied with an "adultery pride" night or a "fornication pride" night?1 point
-
Hey, I love the team too, and if I know that something they are doing is not for the common good for the organization and baseball itself, then I should be able to say something. We can leave it at that. As I said they should have an anti-bullying day, but to promote "gay pride" I think is going to far and showing scandal to alot of people including the young.1 point
-
The irony is that if you truly believed (or understood) "gospel values", then you'd be 100% in favor of what the Sox are trying to accomplish through a gay pride night.1 point
-
WCJ has been better than Sexton when you look at basically any advanced metric. "Flashes of offensive brilliance." Lol. I can point to some game stats and post some YouTube videos to show you some WCJ "flashes of defensive brilliance" and "flashes of above average offense". I really find it hard to believe you made all this money you claim to have made on basketball. Maybe it was a lucky parlay bet you made while drunk.1 point
-
I do not disagree that Lauri and Lavine aren't #1 option on PO team, I think everyone could see that. But Sexton has been garbage thus far and your reasoning that he'd been a better pick than WCJ because he isn't a modern day big is asinine. Sure a scorer in the mold of Sexton has potential to be an all star, but he'd been a terrible fit next to Lavine regardless, and Sexton has shown jackshit thus far to prove anyone wrong.1 point
