Look, this may not sit well with some but I tell it like it is, given that these players are making ungodly amounts of money (we're talking millions here, folks) to play a CHILDREN'S GAME fines aren't gonna mean jackshit to these soft-palmed millennial sissies. Fining Daniel Palka a few grand for turning the wrong way on a fly ball isn't gonna make a dent in his fortnight emote spending account, the ONLY way to get through to this generation of players is a simple, time honored, glorious technique: SPANKINGS. James McCann poorly frames a pitch? Ricky slaps that ass red. Giolito fails to repeat his delivery on back to back pitches? Ricky's bent knee is waiting for him at his locker and it's not for a show of deference, it's for a dang SPANKING. Yolmer dumps a cooler of perfectly potable water over his head like some kind of psychopath (I'm positive he hasn't even read the water bill)? Buddy, you better believe that's a SPANKING.4 points

Leury is a much better hitter and overall better player. Engels defensive is not good enough nor is Leurys defensive bad enough to rationalize any argument of Engel being better than Leury, Just look at Leury's WAR numbers he has put up in his limited playing time compared to Engel. It is shame both the White Sox fan base and the management have yet to realize this and we have to deal the false perception that Engel is our best option for CF.3 points

Which is true, but run him out there until he gets hurt and then call up Adam if need be. I think there’s a much better chance Leury develops into an actual useful player / trade chip than Engel.2 points

But have you seen his new stance?!?!?! I think this might be the year!!!2 points

Great article. Looking forward to draft coverage this year more than ever since...you know. Write-ups were great.2 points

Yes. I want to hear you lecture the guy who actually gets paid to do this for as living as to how he should be doing his job. lmfao.1 point

Hahn paid $8 million and a prospect for Nova and $4.3 million for Santana Gio is signing with the Yankees for $3 million and incentives. https://mobile.twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/1107797969913475075 All Hahn had to do was sign Machado and Gio and people would be happy. What a terrible offseason.1 point

They had this scheduled by at least last week. He will be back next year probably by July if all goes well. It's not 18 months to begin pitching its usually takes about 7 months before they are back on the mound. Games around 9-11 months. The is usually when they are feeling normal. I think I've starting to come up with a new theory about why so many UCLs are happening. I made a 15 hour drive from Colorado listening to MLB. They were discussing how the new players were benefitting from all of the weight lifting and such but it's fine since they were maintaining their flexibility. This is not a new thought. We know that the throwing motion creates enough force to tear the UCL with each throw and the muscles around it are what helps keep it together. However, what if we've increased the strength in the body to the point that the force generated by the muscles during the throwing motion has surpassed the forces at the elbow to protect the UCL? So is the "new" pitcher too strong for the ligament, not so much in the arm but in the rest of the body? Just a thought. I am have a new line of biomechanical research.1 point

Realistically I think the best way to try to use him is 3 to 4 days a week as a super utility guy. If he plays too much, he gets hurt. Backing up 2b/ss/3b/lf/cf would get him plenty of ABs, and hopefully not expose him too much.1 point

The odds of Santana working back to his old self are way higher than Banuelos becoming a thing.1 point

The biggest shame is that they can't count on Leury to stay healthy.1 point

Boy would it be great to get some breakouts from this crew.1 point

Everybody is so excited about Bush (and they should be) but Sosa was easily the most complete player in the infield, and if I recall correctly he is actually younger than Bush. I am really excited about him.1 point

From what I saw of him last year, he didn’t look noticeably bad behind the plate, but that doesn’t necessarily mean much and it’s really hard to tell much from the camera angles they use on the MILB TV app. I remain skeptical simply based on the vast amount of reports criticizing his defense, but am keeping a small sliver of hope he can figure his shit out this year.1 point

Hallelujah ! A person who makes sense. Nova fills a specific role that not many 1 year starters could have unless you wanted Shields back. To sign injured pitchers from last year or allow young guys who can't even get guys out in AAA into the rotation places an unnecessary burden on the young arms in the rotation and in the BP. Could Nova suck ? Sure he can but he's a more likely candidate to eat innings than those others.1 point
-
Adam can go get em though. And he is about the same hitter as Leury and Delmonico.1 point
-
Just demote Engel and go with some combo of Leury & Jay in CF. Far from ideal, but I’d like to see Palka get the majority of ABs in RF and I’ve seen enough of Adam to know he’s nothing more than a 4th OF.1 point
-
Because we will never have a chance at all of the prospects don’t get a chance to develop. They already got Nova to stabilize the rotation, presumably back when Gio was insisting on multiple years.1 point

Could have a series of Bobbleheads of all the key 1919 players...Collins, Jackson, Cicotte, Weaver, Schalk, Gandil, etc. Invite surviving members to throw out first pitch. Same with author Kinsella. Field of Dreams T-shirt giveaway with sponsor donating shirts as well as money to preserving the actual field in Dyersville. Try to get Busfield, Liotta, Madigan, Costner, James Earl Jones out to a game. John Cusack for Eight Men Out....giveaway of original and/or movie CD’s. Plant 5-6 rows of corn in the fencing area behind the outfield wall in LF. Archibald Moonlight Graham Night when all nurses and doctors get in free...as well as students with school ID studying those fields. White Sox play exhibition games in Dyersville against Brewers...or A affiliate Clinton LumberKings.1 point

Gio was traded last season it should cost no draft pick compensation to sign him (And no I still don't want to, play the kids).1 point

Jimenez has said he intends to wear number 74, as he does in spring training. In an interview last year he stated that he liked the number because no one else wears it, and he wants to "create that number". https://chicago.suntimes.com/columnists/eloy-jimenez-on-his-white-sox-future-and-the-first-hell-accomplish-on-day-1/1 point

Although fully expected this is sad. Looks like yet another failed 1st round draft choice. And with his swing and miss issues probably will be nothing more than a back up at 1st or as a DH.1 point

Find one scout not related to the White Sox, Hahn or KW professionally who believe Collins will stick at catcher. And I put your thread back on track by supporting the thesis with another secondary source. I mean, c’mon...we really want Zavala and Collins in the same lineup when we already have 12 DH’s and corner outfielders on this team? Unless Collins can play 1b at above-average proficiency defensively, his bat at that position won’t make up for it. Which means best case scenario is a platoon DH.1 point

No, petty is going from thread to thread posting unrelated nonsense and ruining them for no good reason. This and the 8 myths thread are great examples.1 point

That’s all fine and good. If you want to publicly campaign to block or ignore someone, more power to you, but it’s petty. I think there are quite a few posters who have never blocked anyone. But how about you publish a list of the Top Ten most blocked/ignored posters, surely that will make me want to run away and hide in exile on a Padres’ board, lol. Let’s see these purported stats if you’re going to make an assertion like that (who is “most,” the moderating team?)...it’s only fair when you make a blanket or general statement. How about this, all those who have me on ignore/block, I’d be happy to return the same courtesy,1 point

Millenial here. I think bosses/managers/old timers say this because a lot of my generation has an opinion on something. Some of my supervisors b**** about millenials because they are stuck in their ways/don't want change from "back in the day". The 6 or 7 of us are also probably the hardest workers at my job.
