I am pretty sure every White Sox position player will have a 5 game stretch this year where they look awful. I an sure we know what Yolmer is and what he will be.3 points

Yeah not trying to diminish it it’s just striking, here’s where it’s at now. Last year he was 7 for 130 after an 0-2 count. 0-2 counts accounted for 21% of his PAs. This year he is 2-4 with a double and a home run after an 0-2 count. 0-2 counts account for 22% of PAs. He is doing more damage in all counts, but him turning his production after hitting 0-2 from horrendous to normal bad makes him a much more productive player. SSS and all.2 points

We are so quick to whip ourselves into a negative frenzy when bad things happen that I fully support celebrating this small sample size by Yoan. May as well have fun when the luck is actually going our way. That said, if you (or the team in the extension hypothetical) are trying to put money on something, let's wait until at least May 1st before we start reading into the K-rate etc.2 points

I unironically believe no position player on the White Sox will have a worse 5 game set than what we have seen out of Yolmer so far.2 points

Yeah he will never ever be Machado defensively but that's fine. His bat and offensive game in general (speed and base running) have a chance to be better than machado.2 points

Hopefully they make everyone show up at the park then push the game back a day again.2 points

People talk about his new aggressiveness early in the count but to me his best improvement has been on two strike counts, where he was truly unbelievably bad last year.1 point

Some cool things are happening offensively and Rodon, Gio and Nova have all looked pretty good. That said the defense will continue to be god awful and the bullpen + ricky is like bleach and ammonia anarchist cookbook shit explosive. It's been entertaining so far, I'll give them that.1 point

I'm with you there. But we've been over it and now they are playing with what they have which is probably about 75 win talent.1 point

This isn’t really what happened. First Machado did not get thrown out. The padres manager did. Machado was called out for interference, but was not thrown out of game. Also I thought it was a terrible call. You made it sound much much much worse than it was.1 point

Have you actually seen the video? If you think that is malicious, your mind was already made up.1 point

Statistically, including defense, such a stretch would be almost impossible to replicate. It's hard to emphasize just how bad he has been. Brushing it off as a normal struggle is foolish.1 point

Kimbrel as well, the reports were that he was looking for like 6/120 at the outset of the offseason. I bet that scared teams away, they went other avenues for their money and Kimbrel ended up hung out to dry. As for the draft pick compensation, even for Keuchel, when was the last 2nd round pick that made an impact for the Sox? Edit, looked it up. Bob Wickman was the last one, and Terry Forster was the other. Those are the only two. Ever. In the history of the White Sox drafting.1 point

I think Moncada haters are going to eat a lot of crow. Kid has top five in baseball tools with a plus eye. Zero reason he shouldn’t easily be a 5 to 6 win player with the upside for more theoretically.1 point

Yes. This is my thought. There isnt a better man in the game to talk to about struggling as a huge prospect out of the gate.1 point

He's mediocre at third? He was the best defensive third baseman in baseball by pretty much every metric over his time there. Hes 20% better than league average offensively since he entered the league. That is not elite but it is very good.1 point

Why are you still talking about machado? Move on. Yonder has been a solid add so far and adds to the team. He's a professional1 point

As noted, if Yonder wants to have a good year at the plate he's welcome to stay. So far he's been impressive.1 point

This is my thought process. He's having a slow start. Doesn't merit a demotion. If he doesn't hit, fine. He's hitting 9th as he should be. BUT, he HAS to clean up his defense. That is the primary reason he is here, and with all the other bad defenders on this team, he needs to contribute at least that.1 point

Demoting Yolmer after 5.games is ridiculous, but he is really bad batting right handed. They should at least platoon him.1 point

Romy Gonzalez is injured and behind schedule. I was told it is a hamstring and he should join Kannapolis thereafter.1 point

Looking at the prospects beyond the big six, it really seems like organizational filler at the full season levels. The one guy somewhat interesting is Frost and he’s on the old side with some swing & miss issues. At least the power looks legit and separates him from the rest of the pack IMO. Also, it would be nice if three of the HS / LatAm guys in extended could force their way to Kannapolis next year. Weaver and Comas both had nice seasons, Mieses, Guerrero, & Coronado not so much. It’s really too bad we don’t have another rookie ball team, because the latter two guys didn’t play much at all last year.1 point

Can we stop with this meme? He costs a pick and wants 4 years. It makes no sense.1 point
