  1. I know this is going to sound kind of goofy but I was at the game today and lost my wallet in the parking lot. I got a call from the White Sox in the 9 th inning informing me they had it. Nothing missing. Thank you to the honest person who turned it in. With all the bad in the world it is good to know it is still mostly good. Especially at 35th and Shields.

  2. Let's be honest - comparing anyone to Frank is unfair to that player until they're hitting at a HOF level. No matter how adept your comparison, you're comparing that player to the biggest offensive force of the 90's that didn't involve steroids and that's going to deserve a "wait a second". Talk to me when Eloy has a 1.000 OPS and I will be ok with starting to compare that.

  5. When I was 10 years old back in 1955 I discovered being a baseball fan. My immediate family were for the Cubs. Thank God my Grandparents were Sox fans and steered me right. My reason for picking Sox was their recent 3rd place finishes in the 8 team league compared to last place Cubs. The Cubs fans had only Ernie Banks. Carrasquel and Fox were our double play combo---Aparicio came a year latter. I was hooked on good defense, stolen bases, high batting averages and winning. The Cubs were left with waiting around until Banks came to bat. 4 years latter we had added enough "good" players around the stars to win the championship. Currently some boys & girls will make the same lifetime choices. They will look at reasons to pick Cubs or Sox and be stuck for life. Yesterdays game was just great for winning over some new fans. While Cubs are in last place we played exciting baseball with lots of action. Our lineup is full of exciting guys like Moncada, Abreau and Anderson with many more coming soon. Main point ---this will be a critical time period in White Sox history. This year and the next few will see many kids get hooked on the White Sox. I love that most of this era will be about the home grown system players and not the hired gun free agents. It's going to be a fun ride.

  8. If this is one of Giolito's bad starts it isn't that horrible. 4 runs isn't terrible. It isn't good either, but it isn't terrible.

  12. Sadly for them, who cares? Sox have $52 million invested in Robert. That’s more than they just gave Jimenez. Whatever is best for his development will be done.

  17. Can we not compare Eloy to Frank Thomas or Miguel Cabrera yet? You sound like meatball Cubs fans.

  18. IR would have worked perfectly IMO.

  19. Frank was a great hitter, but Eloy is going to have a Miguel Cabrera type career imo and that would make him arguably a better hitter than Frank

  22. This lineup is much better with Rondon, Castillo, and yes even Engel. I wonder if Renteria will be smart enough to play that line up more but I doubt it.

  31. The umpire may have thought that he saw the front of Machado's foot, just clip the catcher's heel, and that might have been the justification for calling interference. It was Brenley, who was announcing the game for the Diamond Backs, who angrily described Manny's dropping his bat, by the catcher, as "bush league". If you watch the play, you will see that Machado may very well have intentionally placed the bat near the catcher. Because the catcher ultimately had to move further up the first base line, in his attempt to catch the foul ball, the bat never really obstructed him. However, Manny could not have known exactly where the ball would come down and he certainly appeared to be putting it near the catcher. If that ball had come down, closer to the plate, the catcher could very well have tripped on it. Given his history, I wouldn't give Machado the benefit of the doubt. He also pretended to not even recognize that his placement of the bat was an issue. He simply said that he didn't think that he touched the catcher. Who knows? It's just another instance of Manny being Manny, and one which reinforces the perception that he is a jerk, if not a dirty player.

  32. I agree. I've been a huge supporter of Vaughn's based on his other-worldly numbers in the past but as he has fallen back to earth, his appeal at #3 just isn't there. Sure he can turn it around but this stretch shows how human he is. Unless Rutschman falls in our lap, I'm pulling for Witt (unless Abrahms gives reason to get excited).

  36. My brother is two years older and the Cub fan. We at one time got into fights over our teams and perceived disrespect. We currently live in different states and spend a couple hours every other week on the phone. Main topic is still Cubs vs Sox. We are both far more diplomatic today.

  45. Jon Lester is one of the best free agent signings in Chicago sports history no matter what happens the last two years of his deal. But nearly every other major FA signing Theo has made turned into complete crap, other than Zobrist.
