This twitter user did a great side by side of Benetti and the atrocity that is the Royals TV broadcasters. This was probably Benetti's best moment yet as a Sox broadcaster and I thought it was worth its own thread. People may like to rag on him because he can be cheesy, but he's a professional and infinitely better than people like Steve Physioc and Rex "The Moon is a Planet" Hudler.5 points

You were ripping everyone for using racial stereotypes yesterday and now are using racial stereotypes. I believe that makes you a hypocrite pal.5 points

Timmy, when will you learn that people do not pay to see guys who can hit 418 foot home runs...they pay to see Joe West waddle hit fat ass out there...ah I remember 2013 when Country Joe had a great year behind the plate4 points

Joe West should be banned from baseball until he has an actual neck. Fat fuck. And fuck Mitch Keller. Little b****. We're gonna donkey-punch that garbage-ass bullpen. I hope Yoan wins it and uses the bat as a cane to walk around the bases. Fuck the Royals. I hope they draft 1-1 for the next thirty years and get nothing but Hochevar clones.4 points

Benetti was spot on for this whole situation. I know people don't like his corniness, but he is a real professional broadcaster. Joe West is a moron.4 points

I think it's really cool that he only goes full meathead fan every once in a long while when it's warranted to remind you the guy is a lifelong White Sox fan.4 points

Jason‘s first Joe West rant. A proud White Sox tradition. ?4 points

It is funny, people decrying the generations following theirs for being soft are the exact same people who wet their pants over a bat being tossed a bit too far. My heart aches for Keller's fragile ego, I only hope Tim Anderson receiving a bruise on his left cheek restores a bit of his manhood.3 points

Other teams hated AJ...so what? If other teams hate Tim because of how he plays...so what? Plus Tim Anderson is a great guy who really gives back to the community and is a credit to the White Sox. Keep it up, TA, be the leader that this team needs.3 points

They're in the entertainment industry. Their job is to entertain. Emotion is good for entertainment. I just was scrolling through Twitter and it was hilarious how many young people were tweeting that Tim Anderson is their new favorite player. Emotion is cool and fun. You show a lot of it playing as a kid with nothing really at stake. Tim Anderson doesn't get in trouble outside of work. Theres no domestic violence accusations. He's married with two kids. By all accounts he does a ton of work in the community and with kids. All in all a good human it seems. He plays the game incredibly hard. He's clearly worked very hard to improve his game. And he's living his dream each and every day. Being excited about that is normal and being excited for helping your team is normal. I honestly would be fine with the takes if it were both sides, but pitchers yell, scream and fist pump all the time. Never once do these same people, who have a problem with Anderson, tell the pitcher it's too much when they fist pump; and no one would think it's ok or normal if a better ran to the mound and hit the pitcher with the at bat the next time hes up. People break bones every year being HBP. It could kill you. And for what reason? Because he got a hit off you and was excited the at bat before? Kids like bat flips and fist pumps and fun. The game needs more kids. Their entire promotion this year is "Let the Kids Play", and they got a guy being thrown out for doing exactly what they're trying to promote. Enough is enough.3 points

C'mon man. Baseball is a game. Games are fun. Players should get excited. They should be allowed to show it. I want more of it.3 points

yo take it to social media, this is a game thread not your pathetic soap box. Nobody cares3 points

Of course I don't. You are the board all knowing and all wise... Dammed are those who argue with you....?3 points

I love how you were calling people racist yesterday while now being racist yourself to JoshPR of all people, who I dont even agree with.3 points

He doesnt hotdog. You have no idea what you're talking about. He's having fun playing a game. Your attitude is embarrassing and you should consider changing it. Take your old white man anti-fun nonsense somewhere else.3 points

No, he doesn't. If pitchers have a problem with him, they should maybe try getting him out3 points

Too bad we let Avi go and kept Abreu. Just another awful decision.3 points

This should get endless upvotes. Shitty relief pitchers the world over can point at the sky and chest thump over an event that a given team achieves 10-15 times a game, but a rising star hitter can't show some bravado over demolishing a baseball? No. I don't accept those rules.3 points

No. It shouldn't be baseball and it's a huge problem with the game. You see it every level. If you have fun playing the game, some negative pussy pitcher will take it the wrong way. I cant stand it. If I could count how many times I was hit in my life for doing something good and being happy about it the at bat before. Its cowardice and should be taken out of baseball. I dont need to watch Brian McCann tell Carlos Gomez that he shouldn't be happy about his triple. Fuck all the old clowns that feel like they're the baseball police. Guys like Tim Anderson is great for the game.3 points

Baseball is truly the stupidest sport sometimes. Celebrate big strike out? All good Celebrate a big homerun? You are a disgrace to the game and will have a ball thrown at you. Get angry at said ball being thrown at you? Take a seat3 points

For sure. And remember when we all rolled our eyes when TA said Manny wasn't taking his shortstop position...he has backed up his swag with even better play. So exciting if both him and Moncada become 4+ WAR players.2 points

I mean, it just shows me Capra had no idea what was going on. It shows me he wasn't thinking about the gold glove in Gordon playing the ball or the great arm that Mondesi has. It shows me he didn't think about who was running. It shows me he wasnt thinking about who was up next and it shows me he wasnt thinking about how many outs there were. Should be 3-0 right now.2 points

I don't think this will happen for the following reasons. 1) Sox have had catchers that are terrible working with pitchers since Flowers left. Given the Sox willingness to dump Narvaez so quickly (given his career progression) and the Sox opting to sign McCann early in the offseason with better options available (implies he was a "target"), it seems game managing is a priority for the Sox. Swihart's reputation is that pitchers don't like throwing to him. 2) McCann is the catcher for Rodon/Giolito. I don't think the Sox want to deviate from that path for an incremental upgrade. 3) Collins has a role on the 2019 lineup. I don't see how he and Swihart coexist on the roster. 4) If Swihart is not the best catcher/game caller, the assumption is you're acquiring him for his bat. His performance is shockingly bad. I know the BoSox have jerked him around and perhaps mismanaged his career but there is no track record to speak of here.2 points

This is absurd man. He was a high bonus 6th rounder. Curbelo was one of Keith Law's top 50 players in the class. He possesses raw power but he just hasn't hit. It's not looking good for him. He absolutely has tools though that he hasn't converted. He's also likely not even a top 30 prospect in the system at this point so focusing on him seems pretty extreme. HS guys bust out all the time. The Sox should keep swinging on similar profiles though.2 points

I find it amazing how a guy that is 0 for the season and cannot play defense is sticking around. What is the expectation that they have of Palka. What harm is there of sending him down for a month? If they lose him is it that great of a loss.2 points

Good to see its from players who will not be on the team during our competitive window, but it woukd be nice if they started hitting their worth. With how bad this division is the competitive window might be this year!2 points

You know, this prospect poo-pooing thing goes on in all of these game threads and frankly makes them boring. Can the mods made a thread for all the naysayers to go have their say so that these game threads can be what I care about? The raw stats and videos from the minors. I don't give a crap to read for the nth time how Rutherford is a bust because it's still April and he hasn't hit a lick.2 points

Moncada didn't have elite patience. His issue was that he was too patient. He would stare at tons of pitches whether they were strikes or balls.2 points
