Sox are just being extra cautious. Robert hit multiple balls over the CF wall in BP tonight. Should be back this weekend.4 points

We should try an opener for 5 or 6, then bring in someone other than Nova when he is done.3 points

I know we gave nothing up for Nova and we acquired him before the market had truly been set for FA SP, but my lord, we could have just signed like 15 pitchers for less money that would have been just good or better.2 points

Does being in Winston Salem promote greater health or something?2 points

If he had a broken hand they would have known that same day or next after x-rays.1 point

I am very excited about the young guys (Moncada, Timmay, Eloy, etc.) but then you think about who Hahn gave away (Tatis Jr.) and it kills the buzz. Plus, you know they won't be spending any money to supplement the team with premier free agents when necessary so how can anyone get too excited? Basically, everything has to fall into place perfectly for the Sox to succeed with this rebuild.1 point

Not going to get an argument for me about reasons to be negative. Each passing day, it's obvious Hahn should be fired and barred from GRF for crimes against the Sox organization. I said this the other day, but more and more quantitative data is coming out that illustrates how awful the Sox are in basically every aspect. The whole organization needs an enema.1 point

Everyone saw who Hahn signed this offseason. It's amazing that he can throw millions around on these bums and think they will have some sort of fluke productive year. None of them are worth the money Hahn is paying them, except for the two relievers Colome and Herrera. How does one keep their job when almost all of their free agents signings are terrible? Why even bother signing them? I'd honestly rather see young players attempt to pan out than bums like Castillo, Alonso, Nova, Santana, etc.1 point

This shouldn't be a surprise though. There's probably 7-8 players that actually matter for the long term future of the organization that are on the roster. Come September, we'll be happy they lost these games.1 point

Sox have way too many guys on this team that have no business being on MLB roster. Until this changes losses will continue to pile up. Hahn did a atrocious job in off season evaluating talent yet again.1 point

Sox management has produced a terrible major league team that is barely worth watching, except for a few young players. Without Robert, there won't be as much of a reason to follow the Sox minors either.1 point

I think he's supposed to charge the first base ump? But yeah, that was bad.1 point

Collins K'd looking 2 more times tonight. Happening far too often of late. As Yoan has shown, this is something that can be improved with a better approach.1 point

Tim Anderson will compile more WAR in this season alone than Rex Hudler did his entire career.1 point

...which means Herrera and Colome will get used tonight, and it'll turn out that we need them the next 2 nights also and by Friday they won't be available... right?1 point

It is amazing when Hahn goes for the $3 million to $4 million a year signing, he always seems to be wrong.1 point

This is the only offseason move I just hate. James Shields could have been half the money and I would have only hated it half as much.1 point

For what its worth (and its worth a lot), I've been burned in OOTP baseball numerous times putting montgomery in the starter role.1 point

And it's not worth finding out for sure, instead of playing a guy we know for a fact is bad? Tilson probably sucks too, but this team should be a revolving door of bad players until one sticks.1 point

Holy fuck this happened to me 2-3 weeks ago. I drove in on the first of the month (in accounting, these are long days for me so I didn't want to deal with the longer Metra trains at night). I found a lot where I paid I think $22 to park for 12 hours. To park for over 12 hours, it was like $2 extra. I ended up being at the office for 15 hours and walked out to a $50 parking ticket.1 point

I remember being pretty disappointed at Tilson's defense when he came up because I thought he had a better reputation than what he showed. Cordell was pretty awful when he came up last year but now looks good so you never know what the 2nd or 3rd time around in the bigs will bring. I have no problem with giving Tilson another shot but I don't see any reason to pine for him in any way. He is a good option in AAA in case of injuries with the big club but he probably is not more than that....see Ryan Lamarre.1 point

He could have had a bat made from Valyrian steel. Doesn't matter if he can't make contact.1 point

Scouting reports say his fielding is adequate but the metrics (limited sample of course) say otherwise. If a spot opens up I don’t see the harm in giving him another shot, see what we have in him now that he’s healthy.1 point

I really like McCann, and both Herrera and Colome have been good. I was against Alonso, but he hasn't been horrible. Nova wasn't that bad until tonight. Jay has been hurt, but I'm not optimistic. Santana has been hot garbage, but he's coming off an injury. I don't think Hahn did well, but garbage picking is garbage picking.1 point

- Get rid of the Competitive Balance Picks. Big market teams might not be as inclined to tank if they know their 2nd round pick will actually be in the 30s. Right now a 2nd rounder for a team missing the playoffs can be in the early 60s. - Do the Bill Simmons tournament, where teams do a single-elimination tournament to set the draft order. Winner gets the top pick, runner up gets second, then the rest is by W-L. - Do the above, but with a twist. Roster has to be constructed as follows: Allowed 5 MLB players (26 and younger), 5 AAA players, 5 AA players, 5 A+ players, 5 A players. All of the minor-league players have to have prospect status in tact. This crazy ass idea will incentivize teams to develop their farms.1 point

Yeah blaming Jerry for not wanting to spend 300 doesn’t justify the other actions Hahn took. I’m so tired of the excuses being made for him. Not bringing in a single core asset over the last two years is ridiculous.1 point
-
Many GMs do. Heck, the Cubs did it on one player (Darvish).1 point
-
Really? Because as recently as late last season and this spring some people were labeling Moncada and TA busts. Who the F cares about these expiring vet contracts anyway? You’re the one making a big deal about it. They’re making average money as veteran players on the 6th lowest team payroll in MLB. The only ones that had/have the ability to bring back good prospects are the two relievers. And no, the money spent on these guys did not result in missing on machado or Harper. Jerry was never going to authorize a $300M contract regardless of Alonso, Nova, etc being under contract this year.1 point
-
Then we really need to find someone who does a better job of finding diamonds in the rough and doesn't waste 9 million dollars on washed-up vets. This whole front office scheme is just not working, as there is so much data coming out at just how bad they are in every possible aspect.1 point
