  1. Still have the pieces for a decent rotation though, especially if this version of Giolito can stick.

  2. Red Sox deserve to lose that for taking 5 minutes in between pitches

  3. He typically throws 95, but Cooper told him to throw slower.

  4. If that is what you think, then this rebuild is doomed to failure and they might as well sell players that have already reached the majors as soon as they establish their value. Start thinking about what Moncada and Kopech will bring in a trade in 2021 or 2022. They aren't getting Gerrit Cole, and they aren't getting Mookie Betts. If you think they're still about as far away from competing as they were in 2017, then it's over already. They have to try next year, there is no other option. Otherwise it's over now.

  5. A lot of freaking out about a guy that over his last 150 innings produced 1.6 fWAR. Carlos Rodon was done as a front line starter the day he went under for shoulder surgery. This setup just further cements his future in the pen on another club. This is not a big step back for the rebuild. The rebuild is still tenuous but this doesn't move the needle much.

  6. There are people who still like bunting? Huh

  7. I imagine people are taking umbrage with it only being a 5 run game. Wasn't entirely out of reach i suppose.

  8. I mean, he was already busted for PEDs last year so...

  9. You do realize that Chavis was suspended before for PEDs right?

  10. Maybe Eloy needs to start juicing? PEDs seem to be working well for Chavis ?

  11. Bush OPS nearing .700 which is outstanding considering his horrid start. His development down there is one of the bright spots so far this year.

  16. Unless JR decides to open up the checkbook next year is likely another tank year.

  17. We’d be crazy to punt on full seasons of Moncada, Anderson, Jimenez, Giolito, Lopez, Cease, Kopech, potentially Collins, and partial seasons of Robert, Madrigal, etc. Starting next year we need to begin supplementing our talent in free agency and/or trade.

  20. In your eyes this org will never finish over .500 again in its history, so its all relative. Hopefully the injury is a minor set back and he's back in a month or so. Until the full extent of the injury is known, I will reserve final judgement. But like I said, if he is in fact getting TJS, there is an argument to be made that letting him walk is the right play. But I see Hahn trying to enforce his leverage in this situation before just throwing his hands up and letting Carlos hit the FA market. Maybe that's where it ends up when Boras tell Hahn to GFY, but IMO, that would only be costing his client a fair deal of cash.

  22. Stupid Sox. Taking a guy out of Juco in the 1st round. Kenny loves his athletes! His defense is terrible! Poor scouting! Oh great, Rick signed him to an extension- waste of money! This organization is a complete joke! the Sox can’t identify young talent!

  23. He actually should be a hero. White Sox fans like to complain. He's given us many reasons. Rick reminds me of the guys that used to make Dick Vitale's all airport team. Guys who looked good at the airport but couldn't play worth a damn. Rick is a bright guy, talks a good game, makes everything seem to make a lot of sense, and then loses, and loses, and loses. He looks and sounds the part, but the evidence suggests he should be doing something else.

  24. But you see what is different? The team that had Pineda, the Yankees - they did not offer him arbitration. That made him a free agent, and he tested the market to find that deal.

  25. Cease would be the most logical replacement for Rodon on any MLB team that isn't run by Reinsdorf. Heck on most of those teams, he's already in the rotation at the beginning of the season. Wasting away in the minors.

  33. Sorry, but it's not that black and white. The threat of a bunt provides opportunities not shown in those stats.

  34. I wonder if Rodon was a weight room buff. Instead of our pitchers arms being like rubber bands, they are like machine guns. Machine guns break.

  35. all i know is that this is a disaster for this rebuild

  36. I think it is absolutely crazy that some of you want to find a reason to blame the white sox organization for the rash of TJ injuries. due to scouting? Really? full stop pitching a baseball is one of the most unnatural things you can do to your arm. Every single person who does it is putting a gun to their head and playing Russian roulette. It’s not something you can see coming.

  37. Because they are White Sox fans.

  38. I'm sure the Sox had a plan for Cease at the beginning of the year. They want him to make a certain number of starts in Charlotte and build up his stamina. The kid hasn't exactly proven himself to be a workhorse. Rodon's injury should have no bearing on Cease's development. 2019 is a tank year. Throw Jose Guerrero or Jordan Stephens out there for now and take your beating like a man.

  39. This is a bad year to take a lesser talent just to try to float a guy. There is a very clear top 3 players so we shouldn't skip on that third guy to risk floating a guy when the Diamondbacks have more pool money and 4 picks between our picks. On top of the risk that floating him doesn't work, you are also doing it for a high school righty, basically the most risky demographic in the draft. So we would just be compounding risk upon risk if that is our plan.

  40. Lets not get toooooo far ahead of ourselves here. If he's down with elbow injury, its basically over for him with the Sox. Maybe we get him back to 100% for 2021 (his impending FA season), but what a kick to the dick that would be. Really hoping this isn't that serious.

  43. Hahn has one of the best deals going in MLB/Sports. He has teams that lose year after year and he keeps his job.

  44. He once generally mangaged a team that wound up only 16.5 games out of first place. Hasn't been back to that level, but what do you want only in his 7th season.
