Your hate of Abrams because you want to box him into some KW failed prospect archetype is so lazy. Even your attempts to try and "SEE! Typical KW Pick" by showing his glowing scouting reports and your consistent misunderstanding of his hit tool is beyond misunderstanding so I just have to assume you are trolling at this point.3 points
-
CJ Abrams is awesome. Of course Kenny Williams likes him. Kenny probably like Rutschman, Witt Jr and Vaughn too. KW doesn't deserve a lifetime job but he's actually beneficial as a cross-checker in a scouting role. Jerry Reinsdorf is more responsible for their draft failures than anyone else just for his sheer disdain of paying amateur players.3 points

One thing that is undoubtedly better this year, is they are less willing to put up with garbage performance from guys who shouldn't be given the time.3 points
-
I'm so annoyed we have to deal with the negative connotations with KW being in on a guy, because Abrams is good and doesn't deserve to be treated as a "athlete pick" because two athletic (college) outfielders failed in the last 20 years.3 points

If we had Robert and Eloy in the lineup and picked up two free agent starters there's no reason we couldn't win this crap division.3 points

The hit tool is fine and is probably one of his strong points. The way FG does the current ratings is to kind of have a base case for the level and then put 5 (or rarely 10) above or below that level. For HS hitters, a 25 current hit means its a plus tool because the base for high level prospects is a 20. If its someone who they have questions on the hit, they will have a current 20 and then a below 50 future. For college players the base is a 30 with most being at most 5 above or below that. When you take all of that into consideration you can better understand their ratings. For example, Vaughn only has a 40 current hit which you would think is low, but its actually the best because its two levels (10 total) above the base of 30. It is also reflected in his higher future rating. On the other hand, Bishop and Abrams both have a 25 current hit, but Abrams hit is considered a strength while Bishop's is considered a weakness. That is because Abrams is above the usual for HS guys while Bishop is below the usual for college guys.3 points

Why don't we look at the 2018 fWAR leaders and their starts Betts - first 197 games .818 OPS Trout - first 179 games .911 OPS Ramirez - first 180 games a .644 OPS Bregman - first 204 games .818 OPS Lindor - first 99 games.835 OPS Yelich - first 206 games .765 OPS Chapman - first 84 games .785 OPS Machado - first 207 games .744 OPS Rendon - first 98 games ,725 OPS Martinez - first 166 games .705 OPS Arenado - first 133 games .706 OPS Cain - not comparable never a really good hitter Simmons - not comparable never a really good hitter Baez - first 222 games .680 OPS Freeman - first 177 games .784 OPS So basically of the top 13 offensive WAR players only 4 of them started out hitting over .800 OPS3 points

Awesome we're scoring a bunch of runs....but I just realized Bauer is on my fantasy team.2 points

Wasn't there just a blow hard in another thread railing on Moncada? Looks like he spoke a little too soon... yet again and again and again.2 points

The only thing the White Sox have had too much of, ever, has been bad. Too many bad players, too many bad coaches, managers, and executives.2 points

It'd be swell if they can rip off 2 or 3 wins so we can go back to talking about how they are going to win 77-80 games, instead of the 'they're never going to have a good season ever again' talk.2 points

The good news is that the Sox have a ton of minor league talent ready to step in whenever someone goes down. Just like the yankees. And it's all homegrown, drafted and developed by some of the sharpest minds in the game today.2 points

He is a consensus what, top 5 player? There are likely lots of FO people and scouts in love with his talent. You taking Kenny liking him as the kiss of death is weird.2 points

I think I said it last year and I know I said it this year. There has to be a revolving door. Bodies in , bodies out like a morgue. Then you hope someone rises from the ashes.2 points

It was a nice month for Timmy and Moncada. If either is above .260 at the end of the year I will be shocked.2 points

That's just tunnel vision . I know we all don't think the Sox can sign effective free agents but they can. It isn't that hard. JD Martinez a few years ago was an easy choice when the Red Sox were the only ones who wanted him. They can also make trades. There is no specific window until we see what everyone is capable of. You seem to be worried some guys may reach FA before the newer arrivals get good. Too far down the road to care. You know you can always trade major league quality for other major league quality players or major league ready talent. You could be right but what's the sense of worrying ? It's the Sox. You're a fan of one of the worst franchises in baseball history. You know the chances of a successful rebuild resulting in a World Series win are scarce anyway. Is your goal to show everyone you are smarter than people like me, who are just hopeful ,for predicting the obvious ? For the Sox, 4 or 5 winning seasons in a row is a coup . 4 or 5 playoffs appearances in a 5 or 7 year period is likely beyond our grasp. I've lived to see the Bears win a Superbowl, the Bulls 6 championships, the Blackhawks 3 Stanley Cups and a White Sox World Series Winner. I actually feel blessed by all that.2 points

Engel has been given 857 PA in a White Sox uniform. During that time he has -.6 fWAR and a wRC+ of 57. You gotta be bleepin' me.2 points

I did it that way to save myself time. I literally did it the easiest way possible there was no cherry picking involved. It was simply done by highlighting decent sample sizes over 1, 2, or 3 full seasons on baseball reference whatever gave me a relative comparable number. I have zero interest in spending any more time on it, but if you want to do that be then my guest.2 points

But it's okay for you to use Eloy's 21 game sample size to question his talent and the state of the rebuild?2 points

He can't even get that out of his $9 million DH who continues to rack up plate appearances which may eventually trigger some guaranteed money next year.1 point

The Cubs and especially the Astros have committed, well-heeled ownership that employs superior, analytical decision-makers and talent-evaluators who bring skilled on-field difference makers into their respective organizations via the draft and various forms of domestic and international free-agency. We don't.1 point

This Reinsdorf loyalty thing is a myth. The guy has a massive ego and a know-it-all attitude. Getting rid of management folks - especially when you get to the Kenny-Hahn / Gar-Pax level causes the closest scrutiny into his own business acumen. While he laments letting La Russa get away, we have NEVER heard him admit the even bigger mistake was naming Harrelson the GM in the first friggin' place. And we never will because again that's a direction reflection on him.1 point

Reinsdorf's rebuilds are circular....LOL1 point

I long for the days my favorite team at least tried to win. It was fun going into a season thinking we had a chance and not being OK with the Cub saying, "Wait til next year." Next year blows. I want to win now.1 point

Nah you're just being hopeless. Robert sure looks like the real deal and we have Kopech and Cease to eventually arrive, Dunning too. Will Cease be good ? Will Kopech and Dunning be good after TJ surgery ? Remains to be seen but they all were our top starting pitching prospects. Until they come back and display what they got the rebuild is on hold. That's just the way it is. Imagine the lineup without Moncada, Robert and Jimenez (who I have faith in as a hitter). That's the effect we are now seeing without our top pitching prospects, And really of those 5 all we have now is Moncada .1 point

Now it's a six year rebuild....interesting.1 point

Can we credit the Engel demotion to Soxtalk? It cant be a coincidence that he was sent down the same day that the Engel vs Tilson thread appeared. Maybe Hahn's kid was on here and relayed some valuable insights to his old man lol.1 point

KC had a 4 year window. The Sox will be lucky to even have one open.1 point

Every single "core" player will be under control in 2022 and 2023. These will be the years the Sox need to make serious noise. People have been spoiled by the Cubs and Astros long competitive windows. The Sox rebuild will likely mirror Kansas City's at this juncture.1 point
-
Not really. Most of their players time will be close to up. That is about the time where they'll have to make a decision to reboot or not. Not to mention the CBA is up that year, and nobody knows if baseball will be played.1 point
-
Dude, rebuilds aren't linear. This one is just likely stuck in neutral for a couple years. The Sox should be competitive come 2022 or so.1 point
-
Also Sox worst tendencies are spending way too much draft capital on college pitchers with low velo repertoires.1 point

Kenny Williams was a black athlete so all he does is draft other black athletes. It's a lazy uniformed narrative that isn't worth responding to.1 point

When Captain America gets the hammer and the scene where all the heroes start coming in through the portals, it took all the energy I had to not jump up in the theater and scream like a maniac. Maybe the best action scene in all of these movies. Or build up to one.1 point
