  1. Elijah Tatis for Adam Eaton

  2. Honestly feels like he thinks there is a minimum weight for the 5 hole hitter. "No, not anderson, he is not fat enough"

  3. You wrote those dollar amounts as if they are bad when in fact they are very good.

  4. My name is bmags, and I have found lineup complaining to largely be disproportionate to its impact. But the last two lineups are so frustrating, and I am so sick of this employment of the L-R matchups as the uber strategy in baseball. Today's lineup.

  5. Actually no...Narvaez is gone...so he really doesn't matter. McCann is our guy.

  6. Ricky bringing in Herrera who is not at 100% in a high leverage situation to turn Ramirez around is a patented Ricky 4D chess move.

  7. How are you not walking Jose after 3-1 count? Come on, I am so tired of Ricky. He is an idiot

  8. That is why you bunt. Stop hating on it. It worked perfectly there and was executed just as planned.

  9. Cut Alonso and Castillo and call up Collins. That's what I'd do.

  10. I've seen enough of Alonso.

  11. We are not trading Abreu

  12. Honestly, bring Waldo the White Sox Wolf in as manager at this point. The most failed of mascots would be better.

  13. It is with heavy heart that I must announce Ricky is at it again

  14. As a mexican White Sox fan not living in the US, who watches almost 80% of the games per season, and considering that English is my second language and I don't get all the jokes and comments that they made, I do enjoy most of the times their broadcasting, however, for all home games I switch to the Spanish radio broadcast so it's easier for me to follow everything.

  16. This is why the Sox drafted him

  17. I like that uppercut swing yesterday when he hit the bomb. Hope he keeps it up, but I applaud him regardless. .351, 4 HR 9 RBI and 6 walks in 80 plate appearances. Not half bad.

  18. Well, we are an inconsistent team which I guess is better than being a rotten team. Great starting pitching from Gio. Congrats. Can you imagine Eloy going after that ball Tilson caught? Yikes. Gotta love Tilson so far.

  19. It’s unlikely but, if the Sox take the next two from the Tribe, they likely move into a tie for the AL second wild card as crazy as that sounds.

  20. No. Nature of the internet. Check Red Sox fans after Nicky's walkoff. "I hate this team."

  21. In a heartbeat, but I'm not sure Eaton has lost that much value. Also, I'm weary about bringing a guy back that seemed to cause all kinds of issues.

  22. This is a painfully accurate assessment of the team.

  23. Yes. She is amazing. The show really is unlike anything else on TV.

  24. I hope we dont trade him. Even if he keeps this up the value he brings back is not as big as the value he gives us. A C with half a good year is not going to give us a great prospect. Considering we dont have a true C prospect in the minors (Zavala is doing nothing and Collins seems a better fit as a back up C and rest of his games at 1st/DH) I would rather extend him if he keeps this up. I believe he is only 28 years old and could very much be a part of our future while way less expensive than Grandal.

  25. I love his two strike approach, at the plate. You all know what an advocate I am of "choking up" on the bat. He has been a tremendous two strike hitter, so far this season, which has been attributed to his choking up, with 2 strikes. Having a solid defensive catcher is always important, but with so many young pitchers, it's essential. Next season, the entire staff is likely to be young, with little Major League experience. Kopech and Cease could be at the top of the rotation, with Lopez and Giolito considered the "veterans" of the staff. At this point, Rodon doesn't even enter the conversation. The 5TH starter could end up being another one of their prospects. Even if Collins makes it, as a catcher, the Sox are still going to need another backstop. A right handed hitting McCann and a left handed hitting Collins, could work. Depending upon two inexperienced receivers like Collins and Zevala, would not be a wise decision. I will be surprised if they trade McCann, although I don't expect him to continue to have this kind of offensive production. I would be thrilled if he ultimately hits close to .300 with an OBP near .350. He has been a pretty decent career hitter, versus LHP. This year, he is hitting RHP, as well. Let's hope that continues, although it would be less important next year, if Collins takes most of the at bats, versus RHP.

  26. We have a decent catcher that can hit, a potential star at ss and another at 3B. We have 2 or 3 solid starters, a setup guy and a Closer. We have flexibility with payroll. As Elwood said in the Blues Brothers: " There's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses." I am as unsure about which direction this team is heading as the Blues Brothers were.

  27. Yes, but usually the tanking calls happen when they're 15 out in mid-August. Not 2 games out in early May.
    1 point
  28. That's why I'm so against tanking. You keep a competitive roster and guess what? You strike playoff gold every once in a while. And guess what? The Sox get in the playoffs and anything can happen. Remember Baumgartner that one year? One guy (Gio?) can get red hot and lead the way, baby. That is if you are not trying to lose.

  29. Even if McCann regresses significantly offensively, he’s a breath of fresh air defensively compared to the likes of Castillo, Narvaez, Smith, etc. That’s huge for the young staff the Sox are trying to develop.

  30. McCann is for real. Luck has nothing to do with this guys success. Total stud.

  31. We need to see what happens with both McCann and Narvaez.

  32. I mean go to any team’s forum and they all act the same, regardless of recent success. It’s definitely the nature of the internet. Go to the Cubs subreddit after they have a 2 game losing streak, half the sub is ready to jump off the ledge. Despite winning the title last year a bunch of the Red Sox subreddit want to hang themselves after the slow start. Happiness seems fleeting in general in sports fandom.

  35. I go back and forth, but he’s definitely one of them or at the very least some sort of relative.

  36. Lol...amazing you were able to shoot that off in less than a minute! Also, it’s pretty clear now that Ron is Todd Steverson and Let’s Go Ray Ray is Don Cooper.

  37. The Sox are now just two games out of the second wild card spot.

  39. Well, you wouldn't have Colome but undoing that trade and having both Narvaez and McCann as your backstops and DFA'ing Castillo wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world either. And Narvaez isn't a free agent until after the 2022 season. I guess a lot depends on if McCann keeps it up and seeing what Hahn gets in a trade for Colome.

  40. Trade him now while his value is high

  41. I'm rooting for Cleveland to get him....can he pitch tomorrow?

  42. I'm watin for someone to say trade him now while his value is high and they can waste it on bad prospects.
    1 point
  43. Yeah while I agree the offensive is gonna start regressing, he isn't going to lose the defense, which IMO makes him a better choice than Castillo just with that. It's not like Castillo is a better hitter right now anyway, and likely won't be for the remainder of the season.
    1 point
  44. If he keeps it going, not even at his current pace, through the rest of the season he may be worth looking into keeping long-term. The next best option is Grandal who is two years older and will be a lot more expensive. But show me 150 more ABs first.

  45. It was Hoffman before injury, Nola if Rodon was taken. Rodon was the right choice, you can't account for hindsight. Aiken was the Astros trying to get cute (ended up working out for them with Bregman) and Kolek was the Marlins in love with his fastball. Rodon looked like the second coming of Sale.

  46. If Rutschman somehow magically falls to the Sox, parts of Soxtalk will somehow find a way to say it was a bad move because we'd have to sign him overslot, it didn't work out with Rodon, there has to be a reason the Royals and O's passed on him, etc.
    1 point
  47. Have any of you ever noticed how Rodon's motion has no follow through? He has always appeared to me to be throwing entirely with his arm. The finish to his delivery has never looked right. Maybe that is part of his problem.
