Admit it @fathom, when it got to 2 strikes you had "Give Moncada a day of rest" typed out!5 points

My dad is flying in from Chicago tomorrow and we will be at the Kannapolis game on Wednesday morning, and the Charlotte game Wednesday night. We’ll also be at the Knights game on Thursday as well. I will try to get some Eloy AB videos.4 points

I assume this is sarcasm, but I'll respond anyway. People were complaining about him striking out too much (and to some extent that he wasn't walking much) when he was destroying the ball for Winston-Salem. His approach seems to have changed based on early numbers in Birmingham. He has more walks with Birmingham (5) than he had in about twice as many PA with W-S (4). His K rate is much lower (16.3% vs. 23.8%) in AA. We're obviously dealing with a small sample size, but it's a good sign that he is improving in some ways while the other numbers aren't coming as easily as they did in A ball. I understand looking at box scores everyday and getting caught up in a small slump and noticing batting average because it's visible in every box. Madrigal I get worried about, but Robert will be a good player. Maybe he has a shot to be a great one, too.4 points

Can we split Soxtalk into two different versions? Like you either enter through the “whiner/blamer/nervous guy” door or the “dudes” door. Either way, people get to interact with other similar-thinking minds. Nothing against the WBN guys at all. I get it. Just not for me3 points

And they'll still win 90 games and make the playoffs because they have a front office that actually knows what they are doing over and above spending money.3 points

Rodon's team decided on TJ shortly after his injury first came public. I had no idea it wasn't already publicly known that Rodon was going under the knife. Sox are so strange.3 points

He was down to one (next season). Hahn said today that due to his injuries the Sox will be granted a 4th option year. Sox now don’t need to add him to MLb roster until OD 2022. Actually a very significant development. A chance? Of course he has a chance. His injuries the last couple years are super unfortunate. To say you don’t care about retaining a guy like him is asinine.2 points

Actually, I meant it’s a common occurrence for Rodon. He has been injured every season for his past four seasons. He cannot he relied on. On July 9, 2016, Rodón was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a left wrist sprain. For the 2017 season, Rodón spent time on the disabled list, only being able to start in 12 games for the White Sox. He began the 2018 season on the 60 day disabled list with a shoulder injury. On May 13, 2019, the Sox announced that Carlos Rodon (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery this week.2 points

WALKER BOMB. Despite his average, he has quietly been very good at W-S. Has 11 BBs and only 6 K's down there.2 points

Rodon and Jones were pretty much known to be done for the season. Adolfo is the big news. Maybe they were holding off announcing it because they had a buy 2 get 1 free surgery coupon.2 points

Yea, the Yankees just put their 17th guy on the IL today. In the case of the Sox, I'm sure Williams-Hahn will use the large number of injuries as an excuse to extend the 3-5 year rebuild to 3-8 years.2 points

All bunting does there is slightly increase your chance of tying the game, but it does not meaningfully increase your chance of winning the game bc You just put a bullet in the belly of your chance to score multiple runs. And that’s with a successful bunt. 99% of major-league players have no business trying to lay down a bunt at all. Quite frankly we should see players bunting as often as we see a straight steal of home. That’s how rare it is for the stars to align making it the best strategy available.2 points

If he has TJ I'm cutting my loses now tbh. I'm not paying him in 2020 to keep him around so we can see if maybe he could pitch when it should absolutely be go time for the team.2 points

Right, my critiques are more specifically how they setup that narrative not the story arc itself. It just needed more time to show. It would be fine as a wikipedia page, it just didn't work within thrones where there has been such dedicated character and world building.2 points

I do like this very much. I love the 80's. Good early 80's song.2 points

I‘ll just say this: The mental gymnastics some people are willing to do to knock Madrigal are pretty amazing.2 points

Lopez showing 97 in the 8th and only 2 BB against 6K in 7/2/3 of 2 hit 1ER, 2R ball! Moncada just huge. Jose and Beef homer. Solid defense all around for the most part. Tribe announcers sounded despondent after the game. Feels good to win!1 point

A win tomorrow would put us 1 game under .500 heading into an off day ahead of another series against the struggling Blue Jays. Let's do it1 point

Yea that’d work...For reference, Harper and Machado are at 139 and 119 for their careers, respectively.1 point

Rodon can't be seen as anything more than a 4th starter going forward, probably a 5 if they need to protect him. At this point though, it's hard to see optimism having him in the rotation at all going forward. Just have to hope that Lopez and Giolito have the type of seasons that leave the White Sox with a couple #2 or #3 type of starters, a guy like Cease comes up (and stays healthy) around mid-season and Kopech is ready to go next year. That's again a best case scenario though. Ideally, there is some veteran starter who they can add who is more than just a 1 year rental type.1 point

Sox math... Take the number of blown balls and strikes by Mike Winters... Subtract Joe West's weight... Add Angel Hernandez's IQ...1 point

Hmm.... let's see... and this is just based off my memory. Broken leg (surgery) Fractured hamate bone (surgery) UCL tear (surgery) Now elbow again (surgery) I can't remember if he fucked his shoulder up too and needed surgery on that, but you get the picture.1 point

I actually feel the exact opposite of this. There is no way in hell that this rebuild will succeed without significant help from outside the organization. This team needs to add a TOR arm, catcher, second baseman, Right Fielder, DH, and a couple more bullpen arms if it wants to compete next year.1 point

Well that is fucking huge. Sucks he’s losing so much development, but at least our team control isn’t completely at risk.1 point

Cmon. It's not cut and dried. Your categories are wrong. The categories are: 1.) Anger door. Anger at all aspects Sox baseball starting with the product and performance of the front office. 2.) Go ahead and call it the dudes door but I'm not sure what it takes to be a dude. Just "whatever will be will be; I'll always love baseball and the Sox and am OK with everything going on." Is that what a dude is? I don't see how anybody can be OK with this organization. To say we're all whiners I think is inaccurate. I'd say anger and disgust, not whiner.1 point

I don’t see how Rodon was not considered to be a part of the rebuild. He was under control through 2021. He is only not part of the rebuild because he is a walking injury. But he would’ve been in the rotation this season, next season, and the season after that if he could stay healthy. Or the Sox could have traded him if he could show any value.1 point
-
I thought for sure this "interesting idea" was to somehow trade him for a left handed bat.1 point
-
Rodon was never a key to this. I'd also argue that attrition is part of the plan anyway, at least it had better be.1 point
-
This makes sense. Rodon wants to be healthy for next contract, which will undoubtedly be with another team. Rebuild = not going as planned.1 point
-
per fegan via Hahn, the Sox will be granted another option year on Adolfo due to his missed time. That is fairly big news. Only expected to miss 4-6 months of baseball activities, so sounds like a relatively minor operation as far as elbow surgeries go.1 point
