Saying things like “dee Gordon with more pop” is a good example of how comps are terrible. Dee Gordon with more pop is not Dee Gordon.2 points

I honored my ban bet, but the admins didn't want to lose a valuable member. They wouldn't enforce it.2 points

We need to sweep Cleveland and on to Washington. Minnesota should be listening for our footsteps. We're coming!2 points

Frank was the last one. If you're not getting Frank Thomas, it's not worth it. That's my point.1 point

A righty 1B is the type of player that KLaw hates. For him to be so high on him, it must be a special bat.1 point

For one, if Keuchel signs a one year deal, it won't be for a team with a -50 run differential that he'd be expected to save singlehandedly. So, they'd likely have to overpay, most likely with years. Especially with THAT agent. Signing Keuchel to HOPE that he'd miracle this team to the WC is throwing good money away, Yonder Alonzo -style.1 point

Lip is right. Does anyone recall a double play without throwing a pitch. I suppose it has happened before. What a rare honor. It takes a dumb team.1 point

I'm leaning Vaughn over Abrams finally. There's just so much potential in that bat. I don't care where he plays defensively if he has a ceiling of one of the best hitters in the game.1 point

Vaughn + a toolsy prep position player would make me happy with picks 1 and 2.1 point

Yesterday at this time I was pretty confident that they'd take Abrams. Right now though, I'd predict that it will be Vaughn. I wouldn't be surprised if they save a little money too.1 point

Yes. 100% -- Keep Colome and try to win instead of flipping for some guy (Rutherford, Forde, Medeiros) who will never make the majors. I am also amused by the guys who keep claiming that for the Sox to contend we need major upgrade with our bullpen. So . . . your answer to upgrading our bullpen is to trade our guy who is 11 for 11 in saves for a guy who might or might not make the majors. How in the world does getting rid of our bullpen ace upgrade the it?? Also, the guys who say that Colome is not part of the the Sox long term plans, how do you know that? The front office should act and make Colome part of our long term plans. Let's use that Machado money to keep Colome. Also, all you guys quoting this analytic stat or that blab, blab stat saying that Colome isn't an elite closer, you're not seeing the forest for the trees. He's 11 for 11 in saves. Who out there is doing better? Is he gonna stay perfect, of course not, but still, he's looking great so far; let's keep him.1 point

Today is the last day of the season this team will be under .500. A World Series title is within our reach!1 point

Some on this board amaze me with their low regard for Abreu & Colome. A top run producer & a top tier closer are worth more than some scraps. The only reason to trade either at this time is for the overpayment received when a contender perceive them to be the missing piece. We can always wait until the offseason if nothing exciting is offered.1 point

Explain your logic here. I think he only makes sense on a 3 year deal.1 point
-
Colome needs to go. I've wanted Abreu gone for a couple years but I think he's more valuable to us since we won't get anything for him. HOU really could use him but I doubt we would get any real prospect for him.1 point

Why do research and have actual facts when you can blindly throw out bs numbers to make some point that is nonsensical and inaccurate?1 point

Greg, you're a journalist. You have Google. Stop doing this bullshit (greg estimate) thing to do a make a point. You can (greg does 30 seconds of research) and find accurate information that blows up your strawman arguments. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/the-cost-of-a-beer-and-a-hot-dog-at-fenway-vs-other-mlb-parks/ss-BBL8FAm#image=18 Beer: $7 (larger cups than average) Hot dog: $4.501 point

Cease may have a lot of talent, but I don't know if he will dominate like many fans anticipate. Talent or not, he will still be a rookie. But if the organization thinks he's ready, they should not hesitate to call him up. That's a rebuild is about in the end. Better to call up a prospect than trade for one.1 point

So this is 5 in a row? Nice. Imagine the potential if there were a DH that was batting over .200.1 point

It seems crazy but it’s actually not that far fetched. Sox were ready to spend $31M on Machado this season. That money didn’t go towards any other signings after Machado signed with the Padres. Simply reallocate that same money to sign Keuchel and Kimbrel. A July/August promotion of Robert isn’t that far fetched either if they are in the race.1 point

If the FO agrees with you we will extend Colome and Abreu soon. If they think the window is further out they are massive trade chips not unlike Eaton and Q. We are in the catbird seat IMO.1 point

Reading that a player went from Oakland, a place I really admire for their player dev as they seem to overperform prospect rankings quite often, to the astros and was blown away by how advanced it was is a real eye opener to me. I mentioned elsewhere, I just finished Astroball, I'll start The MVP Machine next week, it's hard being a fan of the white sox and just not seeing them in this conversation at all. They are trying to catch up to stuff that the these other top orgs started in 2012. Catching up is always easier than pioneering, but its hard when you haven't really added anyone to the org that knows this stuff. It's the same group.1 point

If he replicates those numbers in the majors, everyone is thrilled. The worry is that he struggles to maintain those numbers as he moves up the levels. You want to see some level of domination because it obviously gets harder as you move up.1 point
