  8. 3rd round slot is $667K. They are likely giving Allan close to $4 million. If Allan chooses not to sign, they'd lose $667K but they could still offer Barco the remaining the 3.3 million they had allotted to Allan.

  11. With no use for him yesterday and 2 offdays this week? I think almost any manager in the bigs would have put their closer out on the mound today.

  25. I think we have been underaggressive with promotions but this has been one where I don't necessarily agree with it, unless they want to show to him he needs to rework his swing and think birmingham will convince him.

  29. I really am feeling good about where the Sox are around the infield so far with Moncada, Anderson, and obviously Abreu... and as a very nice surprise what McCann has been offering behind the plate both offensively and the amazing job he is doing with Giolito, however, I am very much disappointed with the production with the outfield so far this year. Leury Garcia has been the most and really only productive player the Sox have in their shallow outfield thus far this year. I give much credit to Eloy Jimenez who is showing signs of brilliance, but has yet to truly live up to the hype. I was and still am very disappointed that Daniel Palka didn't work out, and while Adam Engel was so brilliant as a defender last year, just could not produce enough offense this year to keep him at the level, and an even bigger kick in the throat is Jon Jay who has not, or might not at all play a game this year. This is a major concern for me as a fan cause other than Louis Robert, who is still a bit away from being an impact player, the Sox outfield is not at all something that is going to be productive enough to win ballgames. I know this is a rebuild and these issues are going to present themselves, but this lack of depth in the outfield is worrying me more than the horrific pitching issues this team is already displaying. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.

  31. Switch 6 and 8 and I agree. I’m also of the opinion Collins isn’t going to be a big leaguer. Oh and Abreu will be the DH

  32. Very true. What was his signing bonus back then. 500 bucks and a Greyhound Bus ticket?

  33. His skill set fits nicely at 1, 2 or 9 in the lineup. I imagine he will start at #9 but his high average combined with low strike out and 40-50 SB's are hard to resist. Actually where to hit Madrigal is a nice problem to have. Also, just noted he was promoted to AA today.

  34. Sweet, I was just looking up his stats again this morning and hoping they would move him up. So far he has been an ultimate contact hitter. Nice move Sox!

  35. Was a joke. I'm a staunch Madrigal supporter. I think his game will largely be unaffected by Regions Field.

  36. In his last 10 games, Robert is hitting .489 and has only struck out 4 times (in 45 at bats). Promoting him right now isn't rushing him. He's ready.

  37. If Gio is for real, all we need from Lopez is to be a #5. Thats all. Its hard to understand how he could have regressed this much since he looked like #5 was his absolute floor in 2017.

  38. I think we go HS hitters with a couple of the first picks, so here is my list of guys I would want that are available and I think still have a chance to sign: Chris Newell Jaden Brown Bobby Zmarzlak Ethan Vecrumba Emmanuel Dean Henry Gargus Jordan Beck Mason Auer Kody Huff Myles Austin Jason Hodges Jasiah Dixon Vaughn Grisson Joshua Rivera Trey Faltine

  43. I think your logic goes against your conclusion. Jimenez physical abilities got him through the minors but when he hit the MLB, he needed to learn adjustments and the league. These are things he couldn't learn in the minors. He needs to adjust at the MLB level. The same will apply to Robert. Extra time in the minors will not teach the adjustments needed at the MLB level. The competition is just better. He needs to move up a level once he adjusts and learns at that level.

  44. Great. As I said before the only guys I care about this year in the majors are giolito, moncada, eloy anderson and lopez. The sox need at least 4 (better all of them) of them to succeed and except for lopez and eloy they are all having good years. Not worried about eloy but a little about reylo. Most other Sox guys are placeholders for the minor leaguers but those 5 are needed for the next core as the farm is not deep enough to fill the complete 25 man roster. The sox need 3 really good starters and 6 or 7 good hitters to compete and then 6-7 more "solid" guys (relievers, hitting depth, sp depth) for depth and those 5 plus the minor leaguers should he able to fill that gap.

  45. There have been absolutely no signs they will ever trade Abreu. Why do fans keep bringing up this possibility? It's not going to happen. If it does happen I should have the guts to finally stop being a Sox fan. There's absolutely no reason to trade the guy. None. I'd agree they'll probably flip Colome. That's what they do right now. They flip guys.
