I've talked about this a few times. This rotation is difficult right now. Cashner is not good, he's not terrible, he's that right kinda bad. He's that "what Ivan Nova should have been" kinda bad. He's owed money, he has a vesting option he will not get based on last years work load, and so he should come cheap. And if he does not come cheap than you don't trade for him. Also, this is a great opportunity to mention the James Shields trade. Everyone will be extremely proud of your reference to that trade, and how you are still upset about Tatis, so please do that. Nobody is tired of it. Anyway prove me wrong.2 points

Yeah I was excited for this. For as much money as the athletic has you'd think they'd spring for mic's for their podcasts.2 points

Although he's an UDFA, here's a new signing. We finally tanked for Beer!2 points

All aboard the Eloy Jimenez express! The bandwagon is filling quickly, better hop on @greg775! Feels great to split and finally beat these guys. Off day tmr, hopefully get Moncada healthy and hold our own in NYC.1 point

Given the pitching match up I honestly didn't expect a win tonight. Somehow they did and hats off to them. Starting pitching was trash again and I'm glad Ricky pulled him before he gave away the lead. Bummer also showed he was finally human...bears watching now more closely. Man when Eloy hits em' they go a lllllooooonnnnnggggg way don't they? Sox went 9-5 in this 14 game stretch against mediocre / bad teams...and that's not bad especially with half the pitching staff unable to do a damn thing because of "sore shoulders" et al. Now the next 15 games are against pretty good clubs, we'll see what happens. I'd be happy if they could go 5-10 myself given the state of the pitching staff.1 point

Ah, here's the Ron jinx thread. Looking forward to Abreu getting hot now.1 point

Machado is struggling early and that makes Abreu the better player? Look at trends, dude. Abreu stinks defensively and is clearly declining at the plate.1 point

Last night I commented that there was no entertainment value in that game. Tonight has been VERY ENTERTAINING.1 point

Nick’s slash line for the year is now 300/367/410 (OPS 777). With his defense and baserunning, I think that’ll work.1 point

I've never seen anyone hit a ball up on the deck there. That shot was ridiculous.1 point

It actually is unreasonable if you've seen the Charlotte rotation. The have nobody better sadly1 point

So ready to see what he can do. If they dump Alonso, chances are Jay will get a look...and Palka will probably get another shot too. But Collins is 24, doing ok in AAA and is a homegrown first rounder. He needs to be up this year.1 point

I've been alerted to this wrinkle to the plan: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/orioles-andrew-cashner-indicates-hell-consider-giving-up-baseball-if-hes-traded-at-the-deadline/1 point

So that's how the Mets are going to sign those highly touted high schoolers. Impressive.1 point

You have probably put more thought into the Alonso situation than the front office has. Hahn and KW seem to be just making stuff up as they go along and flying by the seat of their pants.1 point

Todays Sun Times implies that both Colome and McCann might be traded before the deadline. Given Hahns dreadful track record in trades, I'm almost afraid to see what the White Sox will get in return if these 2 are traded.1 point

And that is something that won't ever happen in the post season ever again. The '05 team was the best post season team ever, but if you aren't a Sox fan, you'd have no idea they were in the post season at all. Haha. I can still hear Chris Berman "Oooooooooo he gets him to go...."1 point

If teams offer to pay for HS kids College if they sign, I don't know why more HS kids don't sign right away. If I knew I could go to college for free in a year or two if I sucked, I'd take the Signing bonus money and give it a shot, knowing I had free college as a backup. Why not try to live your dream? I'd imagine academic atrophy for guys that aren't that bright is a consideration.1 point
