White Sox baseball sure is fun lately. Imagine if we had more than one real starting pitcher.3 points

Just don’t like Keuchel at this point. I think you could probably get Wood on a pillow contract for a fraction of the cost and he just might outproduce him in 2020.2 points

Next 15 games should be a good test for our important players. Wins are nice, but I want good fundamental baseball and if it’s only 6-9 or 7-8, that might be good enough for this team.2 points

I will take the career 770 PA over his 43 PA this season. Alonso fucking blows against LHP.2 points

Except on this night: July 31, 1991 - The white hot White Sox capped off a sizzling month with one of the most dramatic moments in team history. The Sox trailed the Rangers 8-6 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. Texas brought in former Sox All Star pitcher Rich "Goose" Gossage to close things out. But the goose got cooked on this night as with two out, Robin Ventura hammered a grand slam into the right field stands winning the game 10-8. A full house, which included noted Cub fan Bill Murray sitting almost behind home plate, went wild as Ventura was bodily lifted off the ground by massive Frank Thomas in a celebration hug at home plate.2 points

Wood makes sense as a secondary addition. Would be very underwhelming if he was the main get this offseason.2 points

It's not the overall numbers but the progress they make throughout the season. Most prospects take time to adjust to the level. They are there to learn and improve. They do it at individual rates.2 points

The Rickets family is a bunch of neo-nazi Christo-racist scumbags. No POC, LGBTQ, or ally should every be a Cub fan.2 points

https://www.milb.com/great-falls/news/white-sox-release-voyagers-opening-day-roster/c-308065266?tcid=tw_article_308065266 So a lot of these we already knew. But I think these are new: - Cam Simmons (UVA) is on here, so signed - Joshua Rivera (chipola jc) - Solesky (tulane) - Kaleb Roper (tulane) - Connor Reich (Texas State) Jason Morgan is on there...is he a UDFA?1 point

I agree. I think the organizational thought is to not give more than 5 years to pitchers. The Danks contract kind of anchored that consensus.1 point

Ugh - no, it was not a "fearful response" to any of that. Don't overthink what this was all about. It was a gimmick promotion thought up by Mike Veeck, Bill's son, as yet one of many other promotions they came up with to try and draw people into Comiskey Park at a time when the team really stunk. They had a wild promotion almost every single night back in those days. The disco fad was coming to an end anyway, and so that combined with this new, young, popular DJ in town in Steve Dahl, who had recently gotten fired by a station that turned from rock to disco, provided the perfect storm for this particular promotion. And that was it - the gimmick-driven Veeck partnered with a rock-driven DJ whose only beef with disco was that it led to a recent firing. Nothing more, nothing less.1 point

Unpopular opinion: I don't really care if Gio pitches in the All Star Game. It's cool, but being selected is what matters. I kind of would prefer he rest over the break1 point

Isn't it amazing how well that lined up for them? "Oh no bud....this must be rough for you. Why don't you just go ahead and forfeit the remainder of your salary this year, just give us that $9M back, and go deal with your ex-wife. We will just give someone else your money and try to win a championship without you. Best wishes. Thaaaaaaaanks." Zobrist isn't the first guy to ever get divorced during a season. Family members have DIED during a season. I don't recall a player every just taking off the rest of the year like this and forfeiting their salary. I have to believe this is some sort of agreement that Theo has with Zobrist that he agrees to take the year off, give them the money they need to sign Kimbrel, and then Zobrist will be compensated after he retires by being promised a job with the Cubs or something.1 point

33K households so likely quite a bit more people. That rating and streaming is also a separate number I believe, not to mention the number of people who stream *ahem* under the radar1 point

All 3 of those guys started off horrendous but have started to turn it around recently. While those numbers aren't good they are dramatically better than how they started.1 point

I also loved Konerko and still appreciate what Abreu brings to our lineup. I think he still has a place on this team for a couple more seasons. He can DH after Vaughn gets called up. For those thinking Collins will be a better option than Abreu anytime soon I just don't see it. Collins' best tool at this point is his walk rate. I hope I'm wrong but I think a lot of those walks in the minors will turn into strikeouts if he makes it to the show and stops facing pitchers with control issues. Keith Law makes a similar comment towards the end of his FS podcast.1 point

How does 1 family member saying disparaging things about Muslims make an entire family "Christo-racists", "neo-nazis", and somehow against minorities and gay people, lol? This over exaggeration by the left on shit like this is why Donald Trump is President ???1 point

I don't really get the undying love for Abreu on here. He's been a really nice player for us but there is no reason to extend him more than like a year.1 point

Abreu has 52 RBI and 16 HRs. I realize these stats mean nothing nowadays but they should. His production is better than Machado for gosh sakes. I'm a little surprised you think he's only "good for the clubhouse." Thought you were more fair than that.1 point

Not only are you right but management considers him the leader of the rebuild and our Cuban ambassador. Once he stops digging in the dirt for crappy sliders he usually takes over the league for a couple weeks. Now let the teenagers spat over him for a while.1 point

Is this the guy that disowned the Cubs because the Rickets are Conservative? ??? literal clown world.1 point

I agree with this guy, wiht his emoji, what he says about the original post that started this thread. It seems that we get one of these threads on here every two or three weeks and they're just stupid. I've said it over and over: Abreu is our best player. All-Star starter last year, only all-star. Only White Sox listed as one of top-100 players in the league at start of season (I admit that this list would probably include a couple more now). The original poster said, "It is no secret that he is on the decline." This is so stupid. Abreu seems well on his way to have career best in home runs and RBIs. How is that on a "decline"? It's ridiculous to make that claim. Yes, his batting average is down, but Steve Stone addressed that saying that he's scarificing batting average for power and RBIs, launch angle and all that. He is tied for the league lead for RBIs and you talk like we should just let him go because he's falling apart? It makes no sense. You act like we'll just bring Collins up and he'll do what "declining" Abreu has been doing. Collins with his .262 average and 9 home runs in AAA? Probably the funniest thing he said was that the Sox will just sign J. D. Martinez next year. Have you been following the White Sox organization at all? Could you please return to earth with the rest of us. And what bothers me the most is the people on here agreeing with this yutz.1 point

Seriously, a 29 year old, LH hitting, decently fielding, overpaid right fielder is available from the North Side. If you picked up $50 million of the $86 million he has remaining they'd probably give you him for the equivalent of Alex Call.1 point

Great interview Clinton. Thx for the good content this week. My only nitpick is just watch the background noise - it was fairly distracting at times, but not a dealbreaker. Thanks!1 point

Think his opinion on Moncada is a bit ill informed, especially when he in the next breath he mentions Eloy's advanced plate control as a huge long term plus. Moncada is a very unique hitter. He's 11th in avg exit velocity, just a tick below guys like Schwarber and Yelich and coupled with his elite speed allows him a massive 379 BABIP. That will regress a bit but not too much, he should be able to produce BABIPs in the 330-360 range in his prime. His walk rate is down to 7% but I'd expect it to go back up next year as pitcher's start to work around him. His power is starting to become well known. Law says Moncada will be an above average regular but he's already a borderline star even with the growing pains. If he finishes this season with 4+ WAR the sky is the limit for him in 3-4 years as he matures mentally. He could be a 6 WAR player which would certainly mean he lived up to his prospect billing.1 point

I'd be a fan of another team. The Ricketts have have stood by Addison Russell, Aroldis Chapman, are headed by Old Man Racist Ricketts, they've partnered with Sinclair, and more underhanded shit. Meanwhile, the absolute worst I can think of from the Sox is the fact that they traded for Brett Myers, which still disgusts me to my core. At some point you gotta call it quits, and the Cubs would be well past that point.1 point
