  1. Can you please post their salaries again because there may be a poster or two who joined the site in the past 24 hours who hasn’t seen you reach the double digits yet in terms of mentioning this.

  2. Eloy's still only 22 and playing his first 46 games in MLB, all while getting hurt. In 24 games since coming back from the IL he has a 264/319/585 line. Since coming back from injury that's a .905 OPS, with a .322 ISO. wRC+ at 137. He averages a HR once every 15.45 ABs this season. Over 600 ABs that would come out to around 39 HRs. Again from a 22 year old rookie. If he stays healthy he's got a pretty decent chance to get to 30 HRs as a rookie, which has only been done 28 times in MLB history (since 1871). Since 2000 a rookie has hit at least 30 HRs 7 times. Those players are Trout, Judge, Pujols, Abreu, Braun, Bellinger, and Chris Young. Pretty good company. If he gets to 500 ABs this season, he would be on pace to hit 32.5 HRs. As for Collins, even if he K's a ton he is going to get on base. In every MILB stop where he had over 100 PAs, he has never had an OB% below .365. In AA and AAA it's been .422 and .382 over the last 182 games. Castillo with the Sox had a .304 OB% last year and currently has a .289 OB%. Zavala in AAA has had a .267 and .282 OB% that last 2 seasons.

  3. I keep the Abreu criticism to my threads for the most part. You take your garbage to every thread. Sox calling up a former 1st round pick? Sounds exciting for most. For you, an opportunity to bash the rebuild and Hahn

  4. Moan4Yoan is like those idiots who @ big time celebs and politicians thinking they would read that shit. ? Even though some or even a lot of people agree with you, it‘s not like we can do anything about it.

  5. I hope the kid is tied to McCann by the hip and becomes a sponge. McCann's work ethic off the field preparing to call a game is second to none.

  6. Now you’re just being ridiculous. This offseason’s goal was whale or bust. Two of the moves you can’t stop citing where highly (or in Yonder’s case entirely) based on improving their chances of landing Machado. Rip them for the strategy all you like, but those moves have no bearing whatsoever on our go forward strategy for free agency. Adding Herrera wasn’t dumpster diving as he’s a highly paid, highly qualified setup man (whether the move works or not). McCann was a dumpster dive that has actually worked out. Nova was a bizarre acquisition (no idea how they thought his stuff would play up in the AL) but he wasn’t exactly a dumpster dive given his $9M salary. Santana was the one true dumpster dive that didn’t work out and I’m all for ripping it in hindsight, although even there Hahn had a get out of jail free card. I’m still not sure how you don’t get they simply didn’t want to commit long-term dollars for 30+ year old free agents a year before they felt they were ready to compete. I actually wish they were more aggressive, but alas they decided to be conservative given their assessment of where the team was at. That by no means suggest they will go cheap moving forward and rock sub $100M payrolls as you are suggesting. You are making giant, irrational leaps based on the anger you have over this past offseason. They likely won’t get Cole or Rendon, but “the money will be spent” on quality players this offseason and likely many of them. And when that happens, I hope you apologize to the rest of the board for bringing down its overall quality with your repetitive, nonstop whining.

  9. That's Bush's 5th homer, but he's only hitting .199. He's a high school draft pick a year removed from high school and in Low A. Reminds me of Chris Carter, but Carter went to Great Falls when summer ball started whereas they're sticking with Bush. Carter as a 19-year-old in Kanny: .130/.231/.261, 9.62 BB%, 32.7 K% in 52 PA before they sent him to extended The next year in Kanny: .291/.383/.522 and then he got traded to Oakland and mashed in their minors before a productive big league career. Micker Adolfo also reached Kanny at 19, but wasn't a draft pick and spent two years in the AZL before he went to Kanny. Either way, his line there was .219/.269/.340. He K'd 33.2% of the time. Chris Young was another high school pick with raw power and a high strikeout rate, but he didn't reach Kanny until 20. The flip side is guys like Trayce Thompson (although Thompson at least made the bigs for a couple years) and Keon Barnum held their own in Kanny at 19 as well. My point is Bush is doing just fine. Showing enough potential at a very high level for his age. He definitely has to improve and refine his swing, but the power is very real.

  10. You'd like that wouldn't ya, Mr Longo?

  11. There’s more to a catcher’s defense than framing. McCann is marginally better at framing but he leaps and bounds better at blocking balls, minimizing errors/miscues, and shutting down the opponent’s run game. Not sure how many games you’ve watched the last few years but it’s a night and day difference when you compare their defense. It’s really not even close.

  12. Lol, 3 of the 4 guys you just listed were dumpster dives that cost the team nothing. Some people will b**** about absolutely nothing.

  13. How long until the usual suspects come in here to rain on the parade and tell us how the rebuild is a failure?

  14. The rebuild has been good but the same GM acquired these guys as starter solutions. Pretty awful. Nova Santana Banuelos Despaigne

  15. Sox won’t sniff .500 for the rest of the season. The fact that this guy is even on the major league roster is insulting to the fan base

  16. I think this is a first for Renteria: the 3 worst hitters in the lineup are batting 7-8-9. Nary a one of 'em in the cleanup spot.

  17. Based on recent posts, it seems like you blame KW for all our bad moves and not the actual GM for some reason. Regardless, we definitely needed more discussion around Tatis so glad you started this beauty of thread!!

  20. They are roster fillers. At some point, the young core are going to fill those voids. At that point, Hahn isn’t going to be looking to fill the roster with mediocre veterans just because he hates you.

  21. TFW your hatred for the Sox goes so deep and you are so bitter that you list the fucking Mariners as a better coached franchise. You know, the same Mariners who haven‘t made the playoffs in almost two decades.

  23. I don’t understand the love for Narvaez. He was terrible defensively. He’s basically what I expect from Collins in another year or two. OPS around 800 but poor defense. That’s fine for the backup catcher/DH/occasional 1b but not as the primary catcher. Give me a guy like McCann all day every day as the primary catcher even if his OPS is 100-150 points less than a guy like Narvaez (which of course it isn’t this year).

  28. Yes. It's clear that somehow the person writing that thought it was obvious so they should see that some of us still see how "a solid catcher for the next 5 years" is a useful thing compared to a couple short termers.

  29. Hoping one of these prospects come up and go bananas right away. From a power standpoint, Collins could be that guy! Sucks seeing guys like Soto, Acuna, Torres, Riley, etc. come up and rake right away while our guys need to “develop more at the big league level”.

  30. Sign two of the following four pitchers: Wood, Bumgarner, Wheeler, Keuchel. The other three starters are Giolito, Kopech, Cease. When Rodon comes back, he either moves to the pen or takes the place of whoever of those five are injured/struggling. Lopez is in the pen.

  35. The fans had a great time tonight. Those 4 runs salvaged an amazing crowd and a great time. This being said, No one had faith in Reylo from the get go, he has half a season to figure it out or he becomes a long relief mop up duty guy. You can't even trust him as a 5th starter at this point.

  36. I was and still am the first one to work. As a manager I appreciated employees who were professional and arrived on time. I also was very accommodating for doctor's appointments, school meetings, and all those things that require people to leave for part of a day. But if you can't figure out how to be at work on time most days I assume you don't care much about the job. I remember one employee who was late literally half the time. His excuse was his commute was anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. He always left 30 minutes before his start and it wasn't his fault if he was late. I asked why he didn't just leave 45 minutes before work. His answer was he didn't want to be early. Do you think he was ever promoted?

  39. No explanation, which is fine. Hope he’s OK. Sounded a little frail, maybe? He’s a White Sox guy and I’m pulling for him and his family for whatever. Good wishes only here, please. (Don’t think I’ve ever started a topic before. Hope this is OK.)

  40. You might be one of a very few who think that. I know the rest of us are using hindsight but there was no reason to sign a 34 year old whose best days were behind him . Talking about his past means nothing when a guy is that old. He wasn't fast anymore .More than likely if the Sox don't give him $4M he signs a minor league deal. It wasn't even close to a reasonable add when they just could've non tendered Avi then resigned him like TB did. Jay had no upside at all while AVi still did. This is still a rebuild and one of your goals is to dumpster dive for guys with some upside, not sign washed up players. They did it with Cordell, Tilson, Gillaspie, Banuelos, Marshall , Osich, McCann. The list goes on and on. To totally ignore his relationship with Machado is baffling since that seems to be the only reasonable explanation to why the Sox signed him .

  41. Go after Cole and a #5 (no faith in Lopez) this offseason, i dont see a need for a trade

  42. With the Mariners seemingly trading any/everyone I wonder if they would trade Marco Gonzales? He’s dirt cheap so they have no real reason to trade him, but he’s 27 and pretty far from an ace. Possibly they’d prefer to gamble on a high upside prospect. Gonzales is a lefty would could comfortably slot into the #4 starter for a few years to come

  43. So watching Pilkington for the first time. He works super fast. Gets it and throws it. Lots of batters stepping out to try and slow him down. Lots of time being called. Fastball doesn't look like anything special. Throws his slider and change-up often. Uses the whole repertoire. Is in and out, up and down. Curious what the fastball is at. He's definitely not blowing it by people.
