A guy who can play anywhere on the infield with a career .715 OPS has value, 4mil/yr is chump change. You are terrible at posting.3 points

So 8 plate appearances is enough of a sample size to determine a player needs more work?3 points

It's because these guys lack tools. No speed, no hit tool, no defense, etc. We bring them in as home run hitting lumber Jacks. Thise days need to be over and we need to be more diversified with our hitters.2 points

People who b**** about everything Reinsdorf/Hahn/Sox 24/7 fail to see two things. 1. They don‘t give a shit what a random poster on soxtalk has to say. Writing a letter to be interviewed for the GM job has a better chance to get read. 2. We all know that the Sox have been bad for a long time and make stupid decision. We all know that the sky is blue. Writing the sky is blue in every fucking post every fucking day would get old fast as well.2 points

Who the hell is an apologist? Who are you talking to exactly? I think this front office has been HORRIBLE for a long time. "Whoa everyone! Did this guy just b*tch about Jerry Reinsdorf and the Bulls/Sox front office? Watch out folks! We have a real edgy mf'er over here! What a profound and unique point of view! We have never heard this on SoxTalk! This guy just tells it how it is. No BS getting past him! He ain't taking your guff! SILLY APOLOGISTS! Ha!" Not everyone who points out a flaw in a post of yours has some agenda that they're pushing that runs contrary to yours. You said something ridiculous and I pointed it out. It is that simple, sir. You can tell it was a silly statement, because instead of defending it - you went off singing the star spangled banner in response to me.2 points

I'll never give it a rest, Jerry. It's why the Sox have only been to the post season 5 times in almost 40 years and the Bulls haven't as much as sniffed a Finals apperance in almost 20 years since the INHERITED Michael Jordan left. You apologists bore me to friggin tears. Chicago is only major market that puts up with this B.S.2 points

This weekend started off so promising before it turned to crap. Bullpen really starting to show cracks (Bummer, Marshall et al) because the starting pitching is awful and doesn't even give them a chance in a lot of games. This next week is going to probably be very ugly. Sigh... Morrissey at the Sun-Times just posted a story that we are all asking, "When will the Sox sign their Lester" (as in a big name free agent that can change the culture and get them over the top in the rebuild) As long as Mr. Financial Responsibility (JR) is running the show the answer is probably never...instead more shopping at the bargain aisle or in the dumpster. And suddenly Alonso is back in the lineup and sucking even worse than ever.2 points

Keep Hahn for making prospect trades. But hire a monkey to throw darts at a dart board of free agent targets.2 points

We should all feel honored and privileged to have watched two of the worst players in baseball in this series: Yonder and Assdrool. What a time to be alive2 points

Uh... everything is delayed... lol. Are you under the impression that Stone/Jason are calling action that has not happened yet on the TV feed? That's not how it works. That would be a mess. They call the game live and the entire feed... the action... the play-by-play... the color... it's all a few seconds behind. The entire broadcast is. They call it live. He's watching on the monitor as the catcher puts the signs down live, he says them and then the pitch is thrown. It isn't hard... when there isn't a runner on second. All he has to do is know what 1, 2 and 3 fingers going down means. They do not see a pitch/play happen and wait to call it.2 points

Oh, it’s cuz Zavala was bad? I call BS. If it’s all about trying to win games, the Sox wouldn’t be pitching Despaigne and Nova. If it’s all about development, there is no better time than now when winning games doesn’t matter much.2 points

Jesus guys, Abreu blistered the ball and Odor turned it into web gem. Let’s not be overly results-oriented.2 points

Abreu swings at everything. I like him as a player but you have a 3-0 count and down 5 runs show some patience2 points

James was definitely not even close to being the "best" player we got this offseason. In reality it was Nova, Jon Jay and Yonder. To put it plainly Rick has done nothing atleast in my eyes to show that he is a good GM.2 points

It's always good having an NPB fan on here to give us interesting news . It's definitely an option that should be explored. It's about time the Sox dipped their toes back into the Pacific.2 points

To the Bulls’ credit, a willingness to spend on stars has never been the issue. Unfortunately their front office is simply incapable of landing one, partly because they’re unlikable and party because Chicago isn’t a desirable winter location for a lot of those guys.2 points

Great thread. I would personally nmove Bush to category 3. He's very raw and young for where he is at. The AA crew has been extremely disappointing though, minus Madrigal and Robert2 points

I believe they're 4. They're also two under .500... This always happens in the first half of the season. Bunch of teams hovering for that 2nd WC spot. One or two teams always pull away. This just in, Boston is suddenly playing great (hiccup today). Oakland and Cleveland are playing solidly as well. We're not going to be in that bunch. We cannot compete with those rosters for 162 games. Plain and simple. As for Moncada... that's such a lame argument. So, if I name Carson Fulmer in response (actually a pitcher as well) does that make me correct? Where does this cycle end? You can always find exceptions to the rules. The point is that there is absolutely zero reason to rush a struggling young pitcher in AAA up to the big leagues. I am also curious as to why you believe he would magically be effective in the majors? Why? Because he's a prospect and we all hope he will be? Is it because he's simply the "backup quarterback"? I think it's a bit of both... I mean, Despaigne was more effective in Charlotte than Cease. Why couldn't he be just as bad? Also, my main question wasn't answered. I still do not understand how Omar Despaigne sucking makes Dylan Cease ready to pitch in the major leagues. How do the two correlate? Is pretending we're in the wild card hunt more important to you than doing the best thing for Cease? Come on man. This isn't worth it. You're talking about throwing everything ALONG with the kitchen sink at trying to win 80 games instead of 75. Possibly retarding the growth of Cease in the mean time. Why?2 points

getting tired of balls being called strikes. It's not all the umpires fault.. but shit is old. Feels like I've seen it so many times this season.1 point

You don't pinch hit for a kid who needs to develop up here. If you sink, you sink. Blame the vets who couldn't get it done in that spot before he was up.1 point

With Timmy's ego...you would think his embarrassment would get him working hard on correcting those mental lapses on easy plays. Or maybe we should try him in right field.1 point
