Oh man, there has to be a section in the stands that dresses up like nerds and is called "The AV Club"7 points

He hits lefty correct? A left handed hitting OF who can play the RF position is specifically one of our needs on the big league squad also.4 points

WAR for RP/CP is stupid to lean on. Idk why this is even being debated.3 points

He's going to see a big uptick in performance when he goes to Charlotte. If I am the Sox, I get him there by the end of the year. Pump the trade value in case.3 points

I'm getting kind of worried about our top three picks. What happens if they don't sign?3 points

Reading these game-threads after the fact sure is a trip. It's like half of you have amnesia and are just discovering that the starting pitching is utter trash other than Giolito. Games like this are the norm when 4/5 of your rotation is flotsam. Expect plenty more of this the rest of the season when someone other than Gio is on the slate. There is nothing in Charlotte other than Cease and retreads like Detwiler. This was always going to be another rebuilding season, especially after the TJ plague hit the pitching crop. Props to the folks in this thread who are level-headed and have quality contributions and make it fun to read despite the swell of shit-posts. You know who you are.3 points

He's not a prospect. He's the son of an employee. Typical White Sox bullshit using the draft as a god damn favor bank. The draft is there to find big leaguers. You wanna do this guy a favor. Give him free tickets to a game. This is why other organizations laugh at the White Sox.2 points

Caufield...either way, what does any of this have to do with Andrew Vaughn signing. This is non-nonsensical completely off-topic conversation that degrades the quality of the conversation that others are trying to have. In no way shape or form does it belong anywhere near PHT or this thread.2 points

I think the most tiring thing for me about the White Sox is how fundamentally bad they are annually and how they cannot take a walk.2 points

Dude is brutal at SS, in fact he looks like hes getting worse.2 points

Absolutely. Now, if the Sox had a veteran RF who is just a solid smart baseball player who fields well, has a little pop and runs somewhat well, that's one thing. BUT WAIT! THEY DO!2 points
-
Dude, this is only year 3 of a 5-6 year rebuild. Hahn could care less about putting the best 25 on the field. The only thing the Sox are playing for this year is another top 10 draft pick.2 points

I feel like it's pretty well established that Moncada almost always overreacts to acute injuries (or pains you might say). Not dissimilar to his countryman, Alexei2 points
-
I was thinking the same watching them last night. Certainly Anderson and Moncada have taken a big jump offensively. So has McCann coming over. I would guess we have to give Steverson credit for some of their success. But the overall SO problem w this team also rests to some degree w him as well.2 points
-
So we are going to pretend that Alexei wasn't a really good defender who should have won a couple of gold gloves?2 points
-
He has his issues defensively (and one could also say from a "baseball-smarts" standpoint). 16 errors now. In some ways he's like Alexei Ramirez a guy who felt his athletic ability would make up for everything. Hint: It doesn't at the big league level and like Ramirez his concentration seems to disappear at times which is not good. His hitting of course is making up for some of this but you'd think after three plus seasons now, he'd have a better handle on things.2 points

Hes been awful out there all year. Did you just start watching games or do you only see what you wanna see?2 points

@Real: Well, something bad might have happened, best go to soxtalk.com and take out my failing marriage on the message board. Soxtalk:2 points

i got to say tho, TA be a bit of a diva. if that was Moncada he would have spit on it and tried to play until jose talked him out of it.2 points

In this thread we share anecdotes about our YMCA injuries and compare them to pro athletes. I had a compound fracture of my tibia and fibula. Basically my foot was hanging on by soft tissue only. I was in a cast for 9 months, but it was 2005 and I saw literally every game that year.1 point

They wouldn't be calling it a sprain if there were fears about his Achilles. He's also walking around in a boot, I'm not totally sure, but I don't think that would happen with a ruptured Achilles. I'm also pretty sure you have to be the worlds worst doctor to mistake an Achilles for a sprain.1 point

I don't know how much to blame or credit Steverson, but the mounting strike outs has been a problem for a time. What bothers me is the White Sox have festering problems that seem to go on and on. I would hope somewhere along the line the strike out problem has been at least addressed by the coaching staff. But it is obvious that an offense has no chance when it doesn't put the ball in play. Watching strikes outs is boring. It's bad enough the team will have another losing season. It's boring watching Sox hitters walk back to the dugout with their bats in their hands especially when there is a man on third with less than two outs. It's not much fun, either.1 point

Ricky should drop him in the order until he finds himself. This is Ricky's biggest weakness as a manager IMO. He has no feel for changing the lineup or letting a guy sit for a few days when he looks lost. How long do you watch Abreu chase out of zone crap or bat Alonso cleanup. Just awful.1 point

You sound like Sox management. If we don't have an attitude of winning now, what makes you think 3 years from now will be any different. You will be posting the same post. Changes have to be made now. Maybe the Sox are too cheap and don't want to spend the money on bringing up a bunch of guys from AAA like Detwiller because it will cost them. They would rather lose.1 point

I got to watch the Barons tonight via stream. First time I've watched Hansen. The first batter he faced he piped in two fastballs for strikes, the second one getting an inning-ending double play (he entered in the middle of the inning after Battenfield was taken out). Man, those were eye-popping. Then it started to fall off the rails. The two singles were actually a little cheap. A bloop and a roller that found a hole. No one was hitting anything hard. That's partially due to his stuff being too good for these guys and his command being so all over the place that no one has any clue where the ball is gonna be. His offspeed pitch has great movement, but he buried so many in the dirt. I wouldn't call it Ankiel levels of bad, but it was tough to watch because the stuff was so obviously there. For that reason alone, I wouldn't want to bail on him any time soon. I also probably wouldn't bet on him turning into an MLB starter liked we hoped after 2017.1 point

Why? The wise thing to do is play him when he's healthy enough to come back. p.s. Where u been Caulfield? Were u put in the penalty box? We miss you and love Caulfield.1 point

He isn't worth 2-3 good prospects. He probably isn't worth 1 good prospect1 point

dude I uh, have had two fully ruptured patella tendons, at the same time. There's like 5 of those in the entire US every year. I was a presige charity case for my surgeon and I have blown past the best case outcome (full recovery to all activity basically). also have had a completely shattered foot requiring 4 pins and months off it. I know pain and I know athletes in pain. If all he has is a really an ankle sprain (yea had a lot of those too) and had to be helped off like that I can say that's a bit of a diva move. i love TA man, but I call it like I see it. anyways go sox and go TA!1 point

I give up and am sick of defending him. Players go through slumps especially ones on bad teams, but with no love for Jose I hope we trade him soon. I'm weary of defending him. I hope you all get 2-3 good prospects for him and not lousy prospects.1 point

I'm talking about this season, arguably Jose has been better than Manny (at least equal) for 1/zillionth the cost. So some of you think I'm ready for the insane asylum? Call a talk show and ask the host about this and you'll see them agree with my point (unless they are extreme advanced statnik type of hosts). I read your entire thread. Not so sure anybody read mine. I'm just talking about this season, which is fair, because whenever somebody was ready to deem Avi trash they always just looked at current performance not ever looking at the season he bashed .320 or whatever it was. Now Tatis? Arguably what he's doing is scary good at this time. I'll give you that.1 point
-
Why be happy when we can b****, right? Honestly, if anyone under 1000 posts brings up Tatis off topic, they should instantly be banned. The Astros passed on Kris Bryant and they're fine. Everyone needs to move the hell on.1 point
