This is absolutely ridiculous. You really believe there was a huge red flag that Jake Burger was going to rupture his Achilles before he was even drafted? Serious man?4 points

What? Yoenis Cespedes has never even finished top-8 in MVP voting. Puig has never finished better than top-15. Abreu has finished 4th. None of this really matters but the argument you're making is just not even close to being true.4 points

At least he’ll finally get playing time again. Thanks for nothing, Rick and Ricky, you stupid assholes.4 points

I'm already resigned to the idea that Moncada and Robert, at the very least, are going to walk. This is going to be a very limited window so they should maximize it. If they keep worrying about service time at this point there will be no window.3 points

The fact that Rondon and Palka were getting ABs ahead of Collins despite the handedness of the pitcher is a disgrace. One of your top prospects and Ricky starts those scrubs. Embarrassing3 points
-
Collins has a right to be pissed, he was badly misused and then a player from another organization was bumped ahead of him in line. Or they completely misread his preparedness to hit/adjust at the next level. Not much of a reward, at any rate.3 points

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this, but the last time I noticed I was in AA and now I am on the 40 man roster!! I might never go to O'Hare again in fear that someone from Soxtalk will inform me I've been sent down again. On second thought, I could still be in AA but on the 40 man...that's OK I'm still quite excited for the opportunity.2 points

But why would that person pretend that they were Zack Collins and claim they were going to Charlotte? What are the odds that person even knows who Zack Collins is? Why did this person look upset/angry? These questions need answers.2 points

If I was at O'Hare and someone told me I was being sent to Charlotte, I would be pissed too!!!2 points

Why do people always want to take on the cubs shitty problematic players? Russell? Heyward? I'd rather literally give players away than get those 2 back.2 points

So Yolmer is today's scapegoat for stinking it up in Oakland? Is it time to release him? Yes, I would rather see Madrigal at 2nd base now too. But, for whatever reason, he's not here, so clearly Yolmer is the best we got to put there. Hopefully Madrigal will be there next year, but I really think we gotta ride the season out with Sanchez. Rondon is batting .203, Yolmer is batting .250; that's a huge difference, huge. Yes, he started out the year very badly defensively, but if we're gonna cite small samples, he also threw out two guys at home and threw out a guy at 3rd in that one Boston game. There's an awful lot going on defensively for him to have pulled that off. I used to coach basketball, and I had this backup senior post player, and he drove me crazy: he'd get burned on out-of-bounds plays, could only score on offensive rebounds; no offensive threat, and he just took up space. Well, after one game I freaked out with my assistants that we gotta quit playing him; he give us nothing. I was yelling at them. They all agreed with his problems, but then they calmly pointed out that there is no one else better. All the guys on JV were too small and could never defend the post or get a rebound. We had to play him because that's all there was to put in as a back up. Until Madrigal comes up, Yolmer is all we have at 2nd base, and really, he is far from terrible.2 points

in regards to the title: stay the course. Sell. Sell high on bullpen pitchers always.2 points

I think your greatly over estimating the value of a number ten pick. Getting a major leaguer period would be a good outcome.2 points

All fans believe in winning above everything. Including those in favor of "tanking" or "building"... whatever we want to call it. That's the point of being a fan... you want to win. I would personally rather pickup a young player who could help us try to win a world series each of the next 4-5 seasons. As opposed to keep a veteran who could help us beat Detroit in September this year. But hey... that's just me being "flip happy". Wanting to win a world series in 2020 or 2021 instead of wanting to beat the Royals in September IS a belief in "winning above everything". I would say it's actually a much stronger belief and requires that much more dedication to winning. You want to win a bunch of meaningless, small battles which will be forgotten weeks after they are played out. I want to win multiple wars that will be remembered for eternity.2 points

I'm all in with the rebuild, but what is so enamoring about Yomer Sanchez that Renteria insists on putting him in the starting lineup every day? Sanchez is a utility player--nothing more, nothing less. His best assets are being the team jester and pouring Gatorade on teammates. Nick Madrigal can't be called up soon enough. Despite his great start offensively this season, Leury Garcia is someone else I'm tired of seeing. He been butchering balls in the outfield and making stupid base-running mistakes for 3 years. It does appear, at least, that the Sox's love affair with Dylan Covey is finally (thankfully) coming to an end. Covey is in the minors where he belongs.1 point
-
Yolmer will be gone soon enough. His arb numbers are getting up there. Leury can do what he can do plus more for less money. Unfortunately, Yolmer hasn't hit enough to make a team think they can use a guy like him for the last 60 games. For now, who cares? I am as sick of him as anyone, but playing Rondon more, which was suggested earlier in the year, doesn't make much sense. He makes Yolmer look like an all star. The other options are weak. Just like with every pitcher the Sox must immediately DFA. Do you really want to see Despaigne again? Hector Santiago? Unfortunately, we have to embrace a certain level of suck, because what is behind it sucks way worse or isn't quite ready.1 point

I was on the board during the draft this year and Vaughn was considered a "safe" pick. Kris Bryant was a no brainer pick and the Astros passed on him. You get credit for all your draft picks.1 point

I don't. Luckily for the Sox, the Central is awful. Both Tigers and KC are 30 games below .500. This year we are on pace to win 76 obviously helped by a shitty division. But the flip side is it is also a division where we can jump up very easily. We were w/o the services of TA for a good chunk of time. In addition, the 2nd half should see contributions from Cease and possibly Roberts. Playing in the Central next year could make this 75ish win team an 85 ish win team. This year the W/C looks like 90 will be the finish line1 point

Because guys who are already very rich are likely less willing to sign a team friendly deal. He isn't strapped for cash. He can wait for $300M if he chooses1 point

Wrong - AGAIN! “Tanking”, as it’s too commonly referred to these days, on boards such as this one, refers to complete anti-ethical behavior on behalf of the Major League team. Every MLB team is responsible for fielding a team each and every day capable of winning that day’s game to the best of that organization’s ability. Anything less is a compromise of that team’s ethical approach to the game. And that is agnostic to any market.1 point
-
Sucks that he barely was even given a chance to get consistent AB's.1 point
-
In most markets, there is no difference between being mediocre and being horrible. Attendance is all about winning. However, to win in the current game is to build the organization from the ground up. Tanking is one way to do it. There is no justifying being "anti-tank" in this league as built.1 point

I agree. Leave him down until 5/1/20. Blame it on wanting him to come up when it's not as cold. IDGAF. I want this guy for as long as possible.1 point
-
While this is true, the rules are the rules and the White Sox would be crazy longer term to pull Robert up early. It's not about the money, it's about the control. The fact is, Robert was very, very expensive and the Sox need to get as much value out of the signing as possible.1 point
-
Why are you so certain that this is their last non-contending year? The Sox are going to have a lot of guys learning on the job next year. 2020 could easily be another developmental year.1 point

The weird part is why Hahn still gave in on the trade after pushback from Paddy and Tatis, Jr. The biggest thing with kids at ages 14-17 is projection. They were warned by Tatis’ father that he was still not done growing...maybe they assumed that meant he would lose speed instead of gaining it and have to be moved off of SS to another position. Of course, one could argue that his light power at the time would only increase with more height/bigger frame and adding muscle...which is usually the case when still physically maturing kids hit stateside. He’s now one of the arguably 3-5 fastest base runners in MLB at 6’3 1/2” and got his 13th steal on what amounted to a pitchout to Buster Posey last night. He has now also scored twice from third on short pop ups to 2B...the most recent infielder was so rattled that the throw wasn’t even close. Not to mention scoring all the way from second on an out recorded at 1B and the LUIS Robert highlight of scoring from SECOND on a deep outfield flyout. He also had to at the very least have possessed above average arm strength, because he has made 360 degree throws from SS to first in the last week at 93.7 and 94.0, the two hardest of any SS in MLB this year. In fact, if you want to pick on one of his bad habits, it’s now waiting a beat or two long like Shawon Dunston used to do in order to make the out at first more dramatic/highlight reel-worthy. So you had a still-growing SS who already flashed the three most important qualities of a quality up the middle player...speed, throwing arm and raw fielding ability. To trade that player at age 17 before you discover what you really have, knowing his bloodlines, and knowing one of the most knowledgeable GMs about Latin American talent is already insisting on that specific player...well, it should have sent up alarm bells up and down every level of the organization that they were in the process of being outscouted on their own player and that Paddy’s original scouting assessment on Tatis was being overrun by the immediacy of trying to compete in 2016 with half a roster and a foundering manager.1 point

Madrigal and Vaughan are the two post tank picks...I'm excited about both.1 point

I think the rebuild is exactly him learning from it. They were chasing a ring with a few superstars and garbage around them and hoping to catch lightening in a bottle with fading stars. The rebuild has been amazingly ruthless and methodical...and the results seem very exciting.1 point

It was a bad process that led to the worst case result. Hopefully Hahn learned from it.1 point
-
Again, it's not that they traded him. It's who they traded him for. A guy that we should have never traded for and taken on his salary in the first place. That's why myself and so many others have always hated this trade and shows that Hahn has literally no clue what he's doing.1 point
