Renteria, Steverson, and the entire coaching staff should be sent packing at the end of the season. But we all know it won’t happen.3 points
-
Won't happen for two reasons: 1. Sox are too cheap to make a competitive offer. 2. Sox would have to overpay to get a top tier free agent to chose them over more desirable destinations.3 points
-
Reindorf's head would explode if he gave a pitcher that much money. Plus it goes against his leagacy of suppressing player salaries.3 points

In 2006 I saw the Sox play in Pittsburgh. I went with my dad. He's the reason I'm a Sox fan and we used to make occasional trips to road Sox games. Anyway during the first game of the series he got a foul ball. He gave it to me. He passed away in 2017. Sometimes it's not the most expensive piece or the one you worked hardest for but instead the most symbolic.2 points

What does the 2017 draft have to do with anything?2 points

The DH contributions are laughable. I’m sure some NL teams have a higher average from their pitching staff than the Sox designated hitters do.2 points

Engel will surely go back to being bad and relatively fast but he's been noticeably better at the plate. Forget the hits. He really does have a better eye2 points

A quote from an old song: "You'll lose your blues laughing at life." If you're going to get so upset at a game that it causes you to start calling people names on a message board, why bother watching? Lighten up and just enjoy the the game for what it is.2 points
-
No doubt. Can anyone enjoy a game just for the game? Most fans seem to be a fan of winning and not a fan of the game or the team. Granted it's more enjoyable when they win.2 points

Well, this is really an observation about age, maturity and perspective...like having a family. Unless it’s your team in the World Series like the Red Sox in 2004, White Sox in 2005 or Cubs in 2003/2016, you’re almost always going to have a big/ger picture way of looking at sports unless you’re gambling on it. When you’re in your teens and twenties, everything seems like life and death. Then we grow out of it.2 points

That's my problem is people on here thinking they're the board police. If they don't like what other people post they resort to name calling. It's an open board other people can have opinions to.2 points

If you can’t have a sense of humor after seven terrible seasons...realistically, what other coping mechanism besides turning off the game can people choose?2 points

I'm not sure I want to sign Cole for his price tag. I wonder how much of his success is due to the Astros pitching lab and how much is him. He was pretty mediocre his last couple seasons with the Pirates.2 points

For the record, me, @ChiliIrishHammock24and @DirtySox were on the Stiever bandwagon before it was cool.2 points

NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, not one person, from the White Sox organization should ever say anything even remotely negative about the impatience the Sox fan base is having with this rebuild. Not after only one playoff appearance and just one measly playoff win in the 14 years since the World Series in '05. They should be grateful they even still have a fan base.2 points

I'm encouraged by these first three starts. Dude is going to be good when he trusts his fastball enough to throw it for strikes. Breaking stuff is nasty. The velocity is there. Once he is confident to pound the zone, he will be an All-Star.1 point

The fascination with Cubs here is insane. Betts is way better. He could play 2B or OF. Pretty much every other guy there is a better OF than Bryant. And his contract status is among the worst on the list. Or you could take Arenado and play him at third, or Matt Chapman. Bryant is a tremendous player, but not among the top 10 guys I'd take. For the record, I voted Trout. I have no idea why you wouldn't want the best player in the game. Why would you intentionally chose someone, when you know there is a superior player available. BPA right?1 point

Im frankly stunned that this thread has been made by this particular poster, after this past offseason's FAILURE. I'm not picking on anyone when I post this, but let's put this fantasy to bed once and for all. As I see it, there are [AT LEAST] 3 reasons why this will never happen: 1. As many have posted here, they will be MANY suitors for Cole. Most will offer more money, & are better positioned to win NOW. For a player like Cole, this is important. 2. JR/KW/RH will always find a way to screw this up. They are incompetent and mentally weak. They are also more interested in the Reinsdorf family's future inheiritance. 3. Cole is a Scott Boras client. In a competitive situation, Boras uses the SOX as leverage. In my view, thinking about Cole coming here is a waste of time, in all honesty. It's a whole pile of mental masturbation.1 point

Next offseason, we will all get excited once again about the chance at signing a big name like Gerrit Cole and Hahn will wind up signing a second tier “value guy” like Alex Wood.1 point

For 2020? Abreu definitely fits. After that and long-term? Not really. I do think they should roll with Abreu/Collins at 1B/DH (with Collins getting a start or 2 behind the plate each week) and carrying a versatile 3rd catcher like Swihart on the bench next year.1 point

Where did I say I’m worried about his power? I’ve never thought he’s a 40 homer a year guy, but that’s not being down on him. I'm kind of hoping for a 2017-2018 Anthony Rendon clone.1 point

Lol Vaughn has played 17 games and we are already worried about his power. No concern with Vaughn’s hit and power tools. Vaughn is legit also been a long season for him. Bat speed and swing path is top notch.1 point

Sox fans have not been ridiculously patient with the rebuild. The Atros who many people use an example had 3 or 4 100 loss seasons during the rebuild. The Sox have had one. People can be pessimistic but let's not go overboard.1 point
-
Houston also lost 100 plus games 3 years in a row. As we are seeing lately, the Sox look well on their way to their second straight 100 loss season.1 point
