  1. What an epitome of a Hahn quote. "Logical to see a heightened level of aggressiveness this offseason." 1) This doesn't even say we WILL see a more aggressive offseason, just that it would make sense to 2) Heightened level of aggressiveness is a relative term, so it only means more aggressive than last year, which could still not be close to aggressive enough in the fans eyes The dude is a master at not actually committing to anything he sounds like he is. I'd pay a pretty penny to hear his wedding vows.

  5. This is the correct take. This trade is absolutely disgusting. It's a very poor use of resources. The Rangers are paying Nate Jones so that they can spend $1 million of their own money on international amateurs. The White Sox are prioritizing saving $$ on Nate Jones. They could just eat Jones's contract and spend $1 million on 16-year-old prospects. Instead, they chose to do this because it's an organization still run like a mom and pop shop.

  6. He's an unimaginative, big-talking pussy. But that's what his owner demands of him, so what can you do? When this off-season again fails to produce tangible results, I hope the fans of this franchise REALLY start boycotting the horrendous product on the field. At some point, people will HAVE to realize that they are being scammed/played/manipulated by an empty soul who has figured out a new way (i.e., "the rebuild") of maximizing profits and selling false hope.

  7. I was going to say, other teams' version of "aggressive" or their version of "aggressive," which is having a seat at the table?

  8. Can't believe this topic has 5 pages. Here's a scenario.... Paddy says "I can sign X amount of 16 year olds for the last million but I don't really like any of them." They go to Hostetler and say "is there anyone you like from these 3 teams that want pool money" and he gives them a list of guys the organization like better. I hope the team starts winning soon. I can't take the constant agonizing from fans online about worthless minutiae especially when the fans aren't privy to the actual deliberations and thought process.

  10. Why would you just assume he would be unable to fix a long swing mechanic? You are definitely going to get shit if he turns out good. You're already dug in, no givesies backsies.

  11. You're calling for the Chicago White Sox to sign a top of the rotation starter and I'm the one reaching? Ok, dude. hahaha.

  13. That money is sunk cost at this point. No reason to waste ABs on these schmucks. If they want to keep Castillo around as a 3rd C that is fine but bring Collins back up and give him ABs at 1B, DH and C. Collins' swing change is intriguing. If he continues to hit, I might not completely hate him anymore.

  17. YOu posted that if the offers for Colome don‘t match their asking price they should hang onto him less than 24 hours ago.

  20. I give Jason Kinander some credit. He has swung and missed more than Adam Dunn, but he keeps on swinging.

  24. Pitcher contracts for these established veterans are so tradeable. Even when they appeared fading, like Verlander, they got a decent set of pieces back. When they are great, like Greinke, they can still get a nice return. they got four years of good Greinke then traded the rest for prospects at a reasonable cost. Sox shouldn’t be so timid on pitching contracts.

  25. I like the Nate Jones trade. He should have been gone long ago. So far as no other trades being made: I have no problem with that. Most people on here were saying the Sox should trade Colome, Bummer, Garcia, etc. ONLY IF they got an excellent return. Apparently, they weren't offered anything to Hahn's liking. I applaud him for not settling for crap like it appears many teams did in today's trades. Sometimes the best moves are the ones you DON'T make.

  34. The bottom line is that rebuilding teams should be taking advantage of EVERY opportunity that presents itself. We shouldn't be more concerned with saving money or helping out other GM's. It's that same mentality that led to us being satisfied with signing Luis Robert and not going on to spend another $25-30 million to have a superclass. Instead we spend that exact same amount on Nova, Herrera, Jay, Santana and Alonso.

  36. good to know the sox will continue to not prioritize intl. 2 years to hone in on this period like a hawk and they signed a 22 year old with cuban league numbers that make Yolmer confident, and then shipped out the remaining amount for a 19 year old and a body to get some much needed cash relief from the burden of nate jones.
