This is amazing. We aren't sacrificing anything as our team will play in one of the coolest scenarios this century. This game will be talked about big time and we are already getting big time attention today. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be the first team to do this.4 points

Terence Mann: Ray, people will come Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll walk out to the bleachers; sit in shirtsleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.4 points

Personally I think Ricky should set the rotation now so the starter is Gio2 points

I think Kevin Costner’s dad when he came back as a youthful “catcher ghost” around age 25-30 was sporting a Yankees’ hat...at least 90% sure. That scene where he’s playing catch with his dad always gets to me...especially since my father passed away and we used to do the same thing in the backyard every night.2 points

The White Sox played on the field in the movie. That's it. There is no more connection. This has 0% to do with free agency. Jesus people...2 points

Kinda needs to be the White Sox the first time they do it I would think. Plus I heard the Cubs wanted to play and they told them to "stuff it"...haha2 points

All of you who've never seen it can catch a screening after the sox game on Friday. Should start around 5:30 on the jumbotron!2 points

Also, is it too early to petition for Eloy to DH this game? You know he’s going to end up running full speed into a cornstalk and lacerate his spleen.2 points

I think we all know the 2015 comparison was a not a good one. I don't want the Sox spending money just to spend money. And we definitely don't want them to blow their wad, to where they won't be able to afford keeping Moncada and/or Giolito in a few years. The right player and right value needs to be there. Unfortunately that right player was there last winter and they blew it. But moving forward, if they could land an Ozuna and Wheeler, plus throw in a reliever or two to fill out the pen, I'd be pretty happy. How much the Sox compete next year largely depends on how quickly some of these high end prospects develop? Will Eloy right the ship and by how much? Does Robert struggle in his first season or is he an instant sensation? There's a lot of unknowns. Here's one last question - do you bring back Ivan Nova, who is a free agent? He's been the Sox best pitcher (by far) since the all-star break. And yes, the Sox certainly should be better in 2021 than next year, but that doesn't mean they can't be damn good next year. The time to go for it is upon us.2 points

Eh, you attack Abreu like he's having a 2011 Adam Dunn season when he's actually productive. I'll give you the knocks on the defense for sure though. If he is back, which seems like whether you like it or not, he should mostly DH.1 point

I struggle to understand how he was friends with someone like that for 10 years and accepted it the entire time until now. What changed?1 point

Dude I'm honestly embarrassed that I didn't do it much earlier. They're in their late 20s. I believe that everyone has dignity and need to be treated accordingly.1 point

HE DOESN'T SAY EVERY PLAYER IN ONE OF THE WORST RUN ORGANIZATIONS IN BASEBALL IS THE GREATEST EVER THAT MEANS HE'S A HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 point

Yup. That's why he loved the White Sox draft and even came on a FutureSox podcast. Pure hatred.1 point

Keith Law is #1 in the White Sox hater club. His opinions should be outlawed from this forum1 point

It's honestly kind of hilarious that Ron assumes people who say anything positive are obsessed with Abreu and Greg thinks everyone hates him. Like a balancing force, without which we would topple over.1 point

Stupidest post in the history of stupid posts. This is how you can tell someone is biased or is so locked into his history of hatred against another person that he has to keep hating. He is implying Abreu is at his best because there is no pressure because the Sox don't have a shot at the playoffs but if they did then these wouldn't be his best months. So it's Jose fault the Sox don't make the playoffs because he sucks early. He is only good later because he is afraid to win. To agree or partially agree with that post means you must agree that Jose sucks either early or late and he dislikes winning and can't perform under pressure. Also that he purposefully is bad before the trade deadline because he doesn't want to be traded. Abreu is basically being bad on purpose or throwing games,1 point

To your point, Collins doesn't hit well enough to be full time @ 1B or DH. A more competent FO/development staff (THINK: Houston or LAD) would have worked on his swing YEARS AGO to shorten it, not wait until he shat his pants in his 1st exposure to MLB pitching. Given his long swing thatll lead to piles of Ks, Collins simply HAS TO catch some/most of the time in order to be a big leaguer, IMO. Otherwise, as you said, it was a wasted pick.1 point

And we can keep adding some more “ifs,” McCann and Colome...1 point

Absolutely. Too many people are assuming that the players injured this year will come back good as new (or even better) next year. That's a stretch for the pitchers coming back from TJ surgery. Sure they could be good as new. They could also have a setback in their recovery (some may need a second procedure) or simply not progress from where they were prior to the surgery. Also, injuries will happen again next year. Will they be to the same guys? different core players? Will they be season ending for any key player? Obviously no one knows.1 point

Did you know that the White Sox have used the 10th fewest IL games in the big leagues this season? And while the Yankees have spend a cumulative $57 million on the IL, the White Sox have spent just over $8 million - 3rd lowest in baseball? This is not a "rash of injuries", this is "a normal amount of injuries" and people need to expect that if they think we're competing next year. If you think this is enough injuries to derail your team, your team was not good in the first place. There's a good chance we're more banged up than this even though the team is young.1 point

and we'll still be waiting for Robert and Madrigal to be called up...1 point
-
They will be in the hunt for the division all of next year. They are currently on pace to win 10 or 11 games more than last season, and that's with a rash of injuries. If we have a healthy Moncada, TA7, and Robert and Madrigal come up and inject major league numbers into replacement level placeholders, and if Kopech returns to form and Cease and Lopez are better, and if Giolito is still good we should win 85 games.1 point

Night game on FOX In a field behind movie. A walkway in corn will take you from movie site to stadium. 8,000 seats The dimensions will be that of old Comiskey. Bullpens in CF like old Comiskey. Right field will have a see thru glass for corn. It is a White Sox home game. And yes the family that are majority owners of field are huge Sox fans.1 point

You're not the bad guy man and no one is saying you are. No one here "hates" Abreu (except Ron of course). It's just a baseball decision to replace him with someone better or at least go cheaper than what he can provide. Having said that, I'd take him back on a one year deal if hes willing to mostly DH. If not, then overpay Encarnacion for one year.1 point

You should be use to this by now. Just blow if off. They can't blame him if they don't win the division and they can't blame him if they don't finish last. He's still having a productive year.1 point

I'm not criticizing YOU, but if this was the FO's plan, then WTF are the coaches doing? In other words, if those bozos are too fucking lazy and stupid to get Collins to learn his job, their plan was to squander an option/start his service time, so that McCann [who ISN'T on the payroll as a coach] could coach Collins up? Everything about the way these imbeciles handled Collins pisses me off: The way the scouting staff talked about how they would've taken him 1-1, the lack of coaching to make his swing path more likely to make contact, the lack of a PLAN with what they were going to do with him if/when they called him up, the stupid way they wasted an option/started his service clock, the lack of FO leadership to ORDER RR to play him, the stupid and nearly concomitant signing of Reed, which made his callup an utter waste of time. Now, Collins didn't look good while he was here [nor did he look good in Charlotte, TBH], but everything about how he was brought into the org, and brought up just reeks of the ongoing incompetence from this front office. Here's hoping he can miracle his ass into becoming something of note.1 point
