He didn’t look so good there and it doesn’t really matter cuz his glove will never make up for his putrid bat.2 points

The fact that Skole was hitting 6th in Charlotte and has been batting cleanup at the big league level is just comical.2 points

There needs to be a change of hitting coach AND significant lineup upgrades.2 points

Because McCann still hasn’t proven he is worth throwing all of your eggs in his basket with his awful second half, that are much like his usual numbers. I like the idea of McCann backing up Grandal and Collins being able to DH, play 1B, and catch every once in awhile. Signing Grandal and a RF would make a huge improvement to the lineup.2 points

? People are responsible for their own actions. I voted for him in 2016, and I will again, and somehow I've never endeavored to use racial slurs or treat anyone like shit because of their race. Your friends became and continued to be jackasses all on their own. I bring this up mainly because it's a good lesson for you overall. Own yourself, man. The key to your future is you. You continually blame third parties for your failures and for your friends' racist idiocies, rather than placing that accountability where it belongs.1 point

I'm not in the military and I can tell you that you are not correct. A huge majority of jobs hire the most qualified applicants outside of different hiring practices. Also to your comment about companies having a higher societal or social responsibility over profit is wrong. That is the entire purpose of a business Jack. At the end of the day they really don't care about you, nor should they really.1 point

Actually take the time to show me the ropes. Invest in your employees, and don't discard them whenever convenient. I'd rather take a 10% pay cut than lose my entire paycheck. Also, a company has more social and societal responsibilities than simply producing goods and services for a profit. They have the responsibility to create skilled labor and new products and jobs. Somewhere along the line people have stopped holding corporate America responsible for their responsibilities and have shifted all of them onto the individual. No wonder it's harder to get ahead and life is more stressful! It is the company's responsibility to give their employees everything they need to be successful in their role. College and other outside training programs can only do so much. At some point there has to be on-the-job training and mentoring. This whole sink or swim approach is literally psychological abuse. One shouldn't have to freak out every day that they don't have everything that they need to do their job, including information. While there's a lot of stuff on the internet, it cannot and should not replace training and mentoring. And sometimes, answers aren't available there either. I don't think that not being praised at work is analogous. I do think that people having to choose between their career and any sort of happiness outside of work is.1 point

I've carried one particular notebook everywhere I've gone for the last year, because it zips closed and has an interior pocket that I keep my building access cards in. I've literally never written in it. I'm a horrible note taker.1 point

Billy signs Fiers and Rick signs Santana. They have better analytics. We trade for Yonder and the Cub trade for Castellanos. We don't seem to hit the target very often.1 point

Possible? No doubt they both were, along with a loooong list of the rich and powerful from around the world. There is a ton of evidence. Now let's see if the Clinton and Trumps of this world avoid any fallout.1 point

Goins, Jay and Skole are just wasting everyone’s time. Would rather see Cordell, Mendick and Yermin.1 point

It’s just symptomatic of the terrible approach everyone in this organization seems to have. It’s the most antiquated approach offensively and it’s why they’re so bad every year now.1 point

Abreu is going to be back, so that’s one of the positions. I have a feeling they trade for Mazara for RF.1 point

From Fegan: Lucas Giolito: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, BB, 13 K (new career-high), HR, 69 of 103 pitches for strikes, with 20 swinging strikes.. In line for the L.1 point

Much more luck or being born with much more hitting talent. I’m sure he would take either one.1 point

Um, I think it would be pretty cool. It's fine to say that you don't care but I wouldn't speak for everyone as fact.1 point

Get bent out of shape about the most inconsequential things, brehs. ?1 point

Yeah, this is the sort of attitude that makes me sneer at sabes types. Let's all bow down to the guys who worship OBP and think BA is silly and think batting titles are for punks! Ok, whatever, bro.1 point

There’s also the aspect of this organization thinking this is a good idea instead of an embarrassment.1 point

If you win a batting title, it's always luck? Miguel Cabrera must've even lucky a lot in his prime1 point

Players care, it's a prestigious thing to win as a part of baseball tradition, to argue against that is absolutely insane.1 point

I fucking hate Yolmer so much. He's the one Sox player ever with whom I can disregard my disgust for Joe West as both a human and an umpire to pin the blame for his failures entirely on the player himself. I'm going to throw a party when his ass gets inevitably DFAed.1 point

Don't tell that to @greg775 But for real, while batting average holds much less weight now a days, the batting title is still a cool thing to win.1 point

Yeah we can sign two good starters, Grandal, and a decent RF and still have money left over to pay salary increases comfortably.1 point

Forgot about them for a minute. Even if you count arb players it only gets them up to 40-45M. Not spending more than that would be unacceptable. Next year the only players under definite contract that aren't pre-arb are Jimenez and Herrera.1 point
-
Yolmer should be non-tendered and Leury won’t get much but Colome will get around $10 million.1 point
-
That's ridiculous. The Sox have like $20 M committed to payroll next year. Yolmer Sanchez is the only arbitration eligible player on their books and everyone else is still pre-Arb. Signing only one of them would be beyond cheap.1 point

I'm not sure why people keep discussing signing Grandal. The catching tandem next year will be McCann and Collins. The Sox will give Collins every chance to stick at catcher .1 point
-
You are absolutely right. There have to be priorities , The Sox need to recognize this and act accordingly. The Sox have some of the worst production in the league at DH despite having a seemingly endless supply of bad fielders A huge upgrade there could be Abreu if only the Sox had the balls to tell him he will be DHing the majority of the time if he wants to stay with the Sox. Then they could sign a better fielding guy to play 1st who hopefully can provide offense as good is not better than ABreu. Despite many being down on him it isn't easy to replace his bat . Catcher is probably the 5th position on the list and I'm not real confident the Sox will be signing 5 free agents that will all be as productive as we hope. But we will need upgrades to the lineup too so Grandal may be one the more realistic options there too. I'd love Rendon at 3rd base and then up hugely upgrade 2nd base by moving Moncada there. I know Moncada's offensive production has coincided with the switch in positions but the 2 probably are not related and he should be able to continue his hitting abilities despite a position change. It would also provide depth .1 point

If we sign Grandal and a RF (let’s say Gordon), I go with something like this: 1. Madrigal 2B 2. Robert CF 3. Moncada 3B 4. Eloy LF 5. Grandal C/DH 6. Abreu 1B 7. Anderson SS 8. Gordon RF 9. McCann DH/C1 point

Whose idea was this? Talk about intentionally embarrassing your franchise when they are already in the dumps. https://www.barstoolsports.com/barstoolu/bill-walton-called-into-the-white-sox-broadcast-for-a-preview-of-his-mlb-debut-naturally-it-included-him-singing-and-having-no-idea-how-many-innings-in-a-game1 point

Some of you are acting like he's taking over as the full time color guy. He's doing one game this isn't going to affect you.1 point

Eloy and Abreu did well also. Abreu back over .270. That would be cool if he could rally and hit .290.1 point
