What a waste of 9mil Nova is. Should have signed Buchholz, who has pitched *checks notes* 24 innings this year. Nova has done exactly what the Sox needed this year, even when he got lit up.2 points

Madrigal hit 303 last year. He’s hitting 304 this year. Damn, this kid is consistent. If he’s a 300 hitter in MLB, he’s a 700 OPS even with no power. With his defense and baserunning, that’s a solid 2.5-3 WAR player. And that’s with essentially no extra base hits. Not a bad floor.2 points

Tyler Flowers would be another example of a player they gave up on who went on to improve elsewhere...ironically, with his original/drafting organization, the Braves (who actually seem to know what they’re doing.)2 points

Bassitt is 30 years old and has amassed a total of 3.8 fWAR since being traded from the Sox in 2014. Would I prefer him in the rotation over Detwiler/Covey - yah, for sure. But he's definitely not worth losing sleep over.2 points

Dude. They’re both perverts with fetishes. Whether it’s interns, their own daughter, urination, etc.2 points

All these things are why I have been repeating myself about why the Sox cannot have sustained success. There just haven't been any resources put into developing young players. This is on Reinsdorf. Luhnow runs his club ruthlessly. If scouts, coaches etc cannot fall in line with teaching things the way they want them taught they are gone. They have 75 high speed cameras throughout their systems. They not only take numbers and analyze them but tons of film to break down the farm and guide the youngsters. It doesn't work for everyone of course but at least they make a serious attempt to develop their players. Sustained success for a club like the Sox means they have to develop their players. They are almost 4 years into the rebuild and here we are looking at them only now trying to implement things, but I can guarantee it won't be close to how the Astros do things. After all Reinsdorf got a World Championship the old fashioned way so why bother with a new way of doing things. Too many too cozy in their jobs. It's great working for Reinsdorf but not so good at producing much success let alone sustained success. Like I said before. Where is our Max Muncy ? How many think if we had got our hands on him that he would be close to a 5 WAR player. The Dodgers took Walker Buehler with the 24th pick in the 1st round and turned him into an ace. All the Sox keep doing is picking up guys and releasing them . They catch and release. Rinse and repeat. Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. Welcome to insanity.1 point

Last five starts, Nova has 37 IP, with TWO earned runs on 20 hits and six BBs.1 point

Nova pitching great. Contending teams really should trade for him.1 point

Seems like every error that Anderson makes (and he makes a ton of them), results in a run.1 point

They only wiffed on one. Brady Aiken didn't sign because of an injury and the compensation pick turned into a fella named Alex Bregman.1 point

I didn't phrase that right. I didn't mean that the Sox couldn't afford him. I meant that they thought he wasn't worth the salary he was earning, going forward.1 point

The Astros, not the Cubs are who I like to see the Sox pattern their organization after. Sad that a charter member of MLB has to take a back seat to anyone. Teams should be aspiring to emulate us. Gotta have the right ownership with the vision and financial where-with-all to get it done. Astros would be the first place I would look for a president of baseball operations.1 point

Just the fact he was pissed at Chuck a few months ago because Chuck said Lopez needed to step it up is frustrating. Sox FO and coaches should worry more about putting their players in best position to succeed and less about what is being said on social media.1 point

IMO, your best option is the LVT, luxury vinyl tile. It's easy to lay down and it snaps together. It should be flexible enough to accommodate the ramp. It's nice in the basement because it has it's own backing to provide cushion and some insulation for the basement floor.1 point

This is definitely what Evan Silva did with a recent Tribune article, which had a balanced take on Trubisky (discussing both how good he looks and the times he's struggled) and he more or less fabricated a quote from Nagy that he is frustrated with Trubisky and is simplifying the offense for him. However, with only a few exceptions, this is all the NFL media is or ever will be.1 point
-
From what I've seen, I think it's less being defensive about bad takes, but being annoyed by lazy journalism. More specifically, someone will publish a very positive Trubisky article with only one semi-negative sentence about him, and the national media will highlight that one sentence and run with it, and suddenly that's all the article is known for. This has literally happened three times with verified reporters in the past week and it's just disgraceful journalism. I totally agree with your overarching point, it just sucks that the media has already made up its mind on the kid. It reminds me of the pre-2019 Moncada takes.1 point

I don't know that Alex Gordon is truly a solution, but I don't mind him as a short term stop gap to give Adolfo/Walker/Rutherford another year to see if they can take a big step forward and become the RF in 2021. All the top tier RF options on the FA market hit the wrong way and are poor defenders. They're also going to be expensive and require longer term deals. Gordon could likely be had for a 1 year deal around $8-$10M. He is a plus defender, a decent LH bat, knows the division super well and is a good clubhouse guy. We could certainly do worse if nothing presents itself on the trade market in RF.1 point

This seems ridiculous. Once Robert hits the majors, there will be a lot more autographed cards of his on the market. Not a good investment IMO.1 point
-
Are you sure the Sox are paying this? I seem to recall from the time of the trade that the Red Sox paid or are paying all of that signing bonus.1 point
-
1) Robert - Elite speed and XBH abilities 2) Madrigal - Elite contact skills to move Robert over when he leads off with either a 2B or a single/walk + SB. Basically the Pods/Iguchi tandem, if Pods could hit 30+ bombs a year and Iguchi had well above average speed.1 point

It’s amazing that Semien was managed in two seasons by a six time Gold Glove third baseman and the manager couldn’t teach him anything. It just goes to show that great players don’t always make great managers, even though the Sox organization seems to think so.1 point
