Who has seen the kid?? How do we know he “looks” bigger than that? Not being a shit, just totally curious if someone has seen him or if it’s speculation.2 points

Action in practically every inning. Any kid going to this game as his first is probably hooked for life. That's how Sox fans get made.2 points

For all the incessant complaining about him, you wouldn't think that Eloy is on a 39 HR/162 game pace in his rookie year.2 points

Nellie Fox didn't hit a lot of homers either. Give it up Harold. He's gonna be a star. The more you whine, the stupider you sound.2 points

All these things are why I have been repeating myself about why the Sox cannot have sustained success. There just haven't been any resources put into developing young players. This is on Reinsdorf. Luhnow runs his club ruthlessly. If scouts, coaches etc cannot fall in line with teaching things the way they want them taught they are gone. They have 75 high speed cameras throughout their systems. They not only take numbers and analyze them but tons of film to break down the farm and guide the youngsters. It doesn't work for everyone of course but at least they make a serious attempt to develop their players. Sustained success for a club like the Sox means they have to develop their players. They are almost 4 years into the rebuild and here we are looking at them only now trying to implement things, but I can guarantee it won't be close to how the Astros do things. After all Reinsdorf got a World Championship the old fashioned way so why bother with a new way of doing things. Too many too cozy in their jobs. It's great working for Reinsdorf but not so good at producing much success let alone sustained success. Like I said before. Where is our Max Muncy ? How many think if we had got our hands on him that he would be close to a 5 WAR player. The Dodgers took Walker Buehler with the 24th pick in the 1st round and turned him into an ace. All the Sox keep doing is picking up guys and releasing them . They catch and release. Rinse and repeat. Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. Welcome to insanity.2 points

How does he look big other than he's tall. And a clip of him in the field. Older, but still. He doesn't look big/destined for 1B right now.1 point

Just because we have a 6’7” behemoth playing OF doesn’t mean all big players are better suited out there. Sound logic there. Judge for the record started out and stayed at RF. Kid is 17 and already looks bigger than 6’4” and 215. He’s already primarily an LF, without scouting report you have to go by probability, and odds are he stays there or goes to 1B/DH, not moving to more premium positions.1 point

The White Sox are by far worst in the league in errors from their SS position and in the bottom 1/3 of the league in errors from 3b. Perhaps you're right and the problem is the 1st baseman.1 point

83!! Does anyone know if McNeil and Parkins stopped doing “Can’t Do It” on their show? Loved hearing B&B on Monday. Also love when Bernstein goes after dumb callers.1 point

K-Rates normalize faster than anything else too. While it doesn't mean his previous rate doesn't matter, it does say this adjustment may have a real impact on a k-rate reduction going forward.1 point

Collins now 3/3 with a HR. Prior to tonight’s game, here are his stats since his demotion: 15.1% BB rate, 19.4% K rate, .227 ISO, .320/.430/.547/.977, .375 BABIP, 149 wRC+ Obviously that BABIP is running a bit high, but otherwise his numbers have really taken a turn for the best.1 point

Just need 8 more wins to match last year's record. Should be a piece of cake. They can lose 3 of every 4 games for the next 32 games and they would tie last year's mark----and still have 11 games left to improve on it. I, for one don't think these are meaningless games. I think it's paramount for this franchise to show some improvement from last year, just to show that the rebuild is working. Damn going for a top 5 pick.1 point

The Astros have been the best team in baseball the past 3 years. The White Sox one of the worst. The Sox have won the season series twice in that span. Baseball is dumb.1 point

Actually he didn't. He started more as a sophomore. He was a reliever his junior season. The Nationals then turned him into a starter again once drafted. Remember that was what the Sox were going to do with Burdi before deciding against it.1 point

You do realize Dunning was a reliever most of his collegian career right?1 point

I was one who couldn't stand his slow afraid to throw the ball pitching. He has turned it around with a faster pace (I didn't say fast) and his in-charge manner. I actually like when he's pitching now. Gives us a chance to win. It's good to be wrong when it means a player is better than you thought.1 point

Would you rather acquire brandon belt for players + a 2 year, 34 million dollar deal to get back a slightly better OPS+, or would you just re-sign abreu for a likely discounted deal. If we are going to replace Abreu let's get on with it then.1 point

The same Brandon Belt that is hitting .229/.345/.381 and is owed another 35 mil? Yeah,no...1 point

Just follow through your IPad, very simple to watch/listen through MLB.tv as long as the connection is decent. It’s probably dead of night there, but listening is easy to do without totally waking up and paying 100% attention.1 point

I miss B&B. They were awesome. Bernstein can be a prick at times but listening to his show has made me a better, more rational fan. They should ask Boers if he can come in for a day whenever McKnight has a planned vacation providing he's up for it health wise. The Bob from Niles bit was hilarious, as was the McGowan stuff.1 point

Late to this party, but a little surprised at the Walton hate. People need to lighten up (no pun intended) a little. I'll be in Europe, so I'll miss this, but I still hope he drops some Dead stories during the broadcast. It'll be miles better and far more interesting than company-lining another garbage Renteria lineup and smiling through their performance. This is late August in yet another year of sub-.500 White Sox baseball. What, honestly, did you expect? Mute the broadcast and loop some Yakety Sax on the stereo if you want an honest call.1 point

Yeah, great job Nova. He pitched like crap for so much of the season, by the time he finally started pitching well it was too little too late and no team would trade for him. Now he’s pitching great and teams would likely give up a decent prospect for him but it’s past the hard deadline. So ultimately, Nova getting his numbers back to respectable now still does jack squat for the Sox for his $9 million dollar salary. Any way you look at it, the acquisition was pointless with the Sox in another tank season. Because you know Hahn had planned to flip Nova at the deadline. Instead, we get nothing but the pleasure of watching Nova finish the season with us and get his entire $9 million paid out. At this point, DFA’ing Nova wouldn’t matter. Frustrating as hell.1 point

The Indians and Twins are both on pace for 94-96 wins this season. Granted, they got to beat up on three bad teams.1 point

Baseball wide, the average OPS for 1st basemen this season is .797 (including backups). I guess for a 1b who is a good baserunner and a solid defender that average OPS is ok.1 point

Madrigal hit 303 last year. He’s hitting 304 this year. Damn, this kid is consistent. If he’s a 300 hitter in MLB, he’s a 700 OPS even with no power. With his defense and baserunning, that’s a solid 2.5-3 WAR player. And that’s with essentially no extra base hits. Not a bad floor.1 point

"It seems to be another elite, middle-of-the-order performance the White Sox have come to expect from a healthy Abreu. But the first baseman’s on-base percentage is at a career-low .313 and the funks he’s had in ’19 have been a bit more extended than years past. Those results aren’t necessarily related to those who are hitting or aren’t hitting around him in the White Sox lineup. It’s more about a player often identified by other teams as the White Sox player that can’t be allowed to beat them." “If he was a guy that I would say walks 75 to 100 times per year, it would be better for him obviously. But he’s never been that guy coming out of Cuba. He’s more of a swinger. We talk about it all the time. That’s probably the biggest difference [this season]. They aren’t pitching to him as much this year and he’s not taking his walks, which he’s never been a high walk guy.” They highlight his weakness in the article at least. I don't see him improving in that aspect as he ages. A 3 hole hitter with a .300 OBP is not what I want.1 point
-
Exactly why I don't want him resigned. Nothing to do with him per se, but due to Ricky's incompetence.1 point

“Solid 3 hole hitter”....he’s so going to bat 3rd when he’s 40 and still on the Sox1 point
