https://www.milb.com/scores/whitesox/2019-08-19 https://www.milb.com/scores/whitesox/2019-08-19 Kubat for AAA. Flores back at AA for third post rehab start. I hate to ask this, I know it is a free board etc, etc. I don't post often in the MLB game threads as many are extremely negative. I get the frustration but I come to the minors for hope. On any given day, someone by virtue of chance will have a decent/good day. Lately, I am seeing the negative spill over to the minors. Could we limit the plain "he sux" comments or put them in a thread about that player? I have no problem with someone wanting to discuss a players poor performance but many of these players most of us have never seen. Many are playing for their careers as roster decisions loom. They are doing all they can in often shitty circumstances. Sorry and I know I will get slammed but everybody have a great day.10 points

No big loss anymore. Due to some kind of internal dispute, the front page of the site hasn't been changed in seven years. I remember when it was founded 20 years ago and was about three total pages. It went through changes and grew tremendously. Now it isn't much. There were still some good fans who posted there but there weren't all that many during the last few years. Mostly fans calling other fans "dark clouds," or posting an illustration with a chicken running and the sky falling. The site used to have game recaps but that hasn't happened this season. They stopped starting threads any time the White Sox lost. The fact is if you weren't some kind of cheerleader, you weren't wanted there. And it showed with many abandoning the site. The basic concept of WSI was good. It was a place for Sox fans to voice their opinions and vent. There were other features that documented the history of the team. But at times, I think people running the site feared offending the White Sox. If it is a fan site, it is a fan site. WSI was an ambitious project and had a good run. I was treated well by some there. But its time has passed. What would really be interesting would be a fan site that covered the team like a media outlet and did it with objectivity. Give fans some power.2 points

This is remarkably tone deaf to what an addict goes through on a day to day basis. I'm not about to sit here and argue with you for feeling this way because clearly you have made up your mind, but it is not nearly as simple as you think it is2 points

I picked a good guy for my favorite player. Nice play there by Jose who also homered and drove in 3 tonight. Hope he enjoys a cold beer if we win.1 point

Sox have so many guys whose weakness is low and away sliders, they’re going to single-handedly give half the league TJs.1 point

It is a fools errand trying to explain what Ricky does and why. I hope no explanation will be necessary next year concerning Castillo hitting anywhere in a WS lineup.1 point

No shit, and this part of the problem we are seeing when it comes to evaluating players on the Sox. It’s the same as when people were suggesting Tilson could be a future piece. Just cause they look solid on this god awful team, it doesn’t mean they have any business being on a contending team.1 point

I just don’t get it, during this “hot streak” since the break he’s struck out a whopping 4.3 batters per nine with a very flukey HR rate leading to an xFIP over 5.00. Given he’ll be 33 in January, we should explore every and all alternatives before even thinking of settling for him.1 point

I remember starting a thread that complained about the Sox not getting runners home from third with less than two outs. They almost deleted it. I still don't see why they were threatened. They acted as if I was slandering someone. I was only tired of runners dropping dead on third base. I think that would concern most fans. I also know the White Sox and other major league teams were not happy when the internet started taking off and fan sites were starting to become popular. It was information they couldn't control. True, but WSI, in its sometimes strange way, helped promote interest in the team. WSI was just too strange.1 point

The two most important parts of the rebuild are batting 5th and 6th and getting less PA's in the lineup.. I like Ricky as a tank commander, not as a competent manager.1 point

Then why would a player be assured Hall of Fame if he knocked in 100 RBI or more in say 7-10 seasons? You advanced stat people can never convince me RBIs mean nothing. Look at the players who knock in 100. They are pretty fricking good players. Just cause you guys say it doesn't matter doesn't mean La Russa will agree with you. ... I'm assuming to the stat people only WAR matters at all. It should pretty much be the only thing looked at regarding Hall of Fame admission. I wonder if the baseball arbitration judges only look at WAR. ... Tell me ron, do you know more than Steve Stone? Are you a better baseball mind than Stone? Try telling him RBIs mean NOTHING. Get back to me on how that goes.1 point

RBIs don't matter anymore. It is a relic stat from the past.1 point

Luis Gonzalez has been pretty good the past month or so. While the BB & K rates have been solid all year, he’s finally starting to make some loud contact. He should start 2020 in AAA and it will be interesting to see how he responds to the juiced ball and the bandbox the Knights play in.1 point

The only do-over I want is the millions of hours I spent on the message board from December through February. Good lord, that was unhealthy.1 point

Not once did I see you mention winning a championship. Who gives a flying fig if we can be above .500 for a sustained period ? The Sox haven't done a damn thing to raise expectations that they can sustain success by relying on minor league talent. They can't draft it , they can't develop it. they can't recognize it and they give away int'l pool money when they should be spending it. Do you really believe that load of crap you just wrote ?1 point

This is the type of shit posting that adds absolute zero value to the board and simply makes you come off as a whiny little b****.1 point

If that's the case, this rebuild is doomed. The goal is to have as many of these guys performing at as high of a level as possible simultaneously. That should be the goal now. Playing silly service time games with Robert and Madrigal is counterproductive. The only clock that matters at this point is the one on Giolito, Moncada and Lopez. The goal should be maximizing that clock.1 point

Yea it's been a win win for both clubs no doubt: but from this point on it's going to be a bloodbath for them and a massive win for the Sox.1 point

Agreed. It’s disappointing. And even more disappointing that the ron883s, Yoan4Moans, and Jack Parkmans are the ones who seem to weasel their way into every discussion and ruin it. If only “ban bets” were strictly enforced...1 point

Lol...my perceived high ground? I’ve made plenty of dumb claims on this site, but I do try avoid speaking with absolute certainty and I definitely try learning from my mistakes. Don’t catch feelings because I’m saying history may be repeating itself here. And yes, I did in fact move to Nashville, but never planned on leaving this board (maybe my initial post on the subject misstated my intentions). Being away from Chicago makes this board an even bigger necessity in my life.1 point
-
Since you like to search and repost others to support your perceived high ground, why don't you pull up the posts about you leaving this board? Something about moving to Nashville because you were so distraught. Obviously that didn't happen.1 point

Because right now we have no other OFs (one once Robert is ready) and his value would be greater being a slightly below average LF than being a DH. What I don’t get is your desire to forgo that possibility and immediately settle with him at DH. What does that accomplish? This “he will get injured” narrative is ridiculous. He’s been an OF his entire professional baseball career and I don’t recall any of his minor league injuries being related to doing dumb shit in the OF. People are overreacting to a couple stupid / dangerous plays.1 point

@greg775 this may be our chance at getting a Guillen back as manager of the White Sox. I hope so. Nothing beat Ozzie talking about the rats at Wrigley Field. Comedic gold.1 point
