Honestly wouldn't be surprised. I have such low expectations until this team is sold and everyone gets fired. It's a shame. Love the players, pretty much despise everyone else.4 points

honestly this team is as dumb as dysfunctional as the mets, we just don't live in NYC so it goes un-commented on4 points

Good teams make the Sox look like a minor league team! This weeks games against Minnesota and Atlanta indicate just how far away this team is from competing.3 points

Higher Minimum wages dont really cost jobs. That theory has existed a long time but in no country the installation of minimum wages increased unemployment. That is because companies who can rationalize away a 15 dollar job would do the same with a 7 dollar job if they could because why don't save 7 dollars? What does happen is that burger prizes go up if you raise salary. The only question is then if the people will still buy the more expensive burgers, if they don't that might lead to less jobs. Higher salaries don't lower margins but they might lower revenue if the higher prices make the market shrink.2 points

No - That is not how it works. How you treat people matters and how you go about things matters.2 points

You are referring to salary nonexempt employees. They get over time. Salary exempt which is what most are, do not qualify for over time.2 points
-
Your wrong in most of these statements. Employment is not a two way street. As an employee you have zero risk if the company has troubles or goes bankrupt. You just go find a different job. The owners risk losing everything. They took all the risk starting and investing in the company. If you has an employee cost them business with unfounded slander, you cost them money at no risk to you.2 points

Thats not what freedom of speach means lol. It means the Government won't arrest you for your thoughts.2 points

We have front office people that yell at the fans. Again, why is the possibility all that surprising?2 points

Or they like a tweet suggesting the whole organization’s approach is garbage and they should be the hitting coach.2 points

Agreed, but the hiring of Lisle was “proof” the Sox were trying to get out of the Stone Age. It’s just another occurrence that seems to keep things status quo instead of progressing forward2 points
-
Eh, lisle is mentioned in Mvp machine as a sign of Sox improving. I’m sure it’s some internal politics.2 points

Baseball is a humbling game and it sure seemed like this dude could use some humbling.2 points

I will never give up my goal of being the White Sox GM until I'm at least interviewed for the job by JR or if he ever responds to my letters telling me he's not interested in hiring me. Until then I will keep writing him letters requesting to be interviewed for the GM job. Who knows, JR might come to his senses and interview me. I would absolutely impress him enough where I'm sure that he would hire me.2 points

So that's how Jose got to 100. I just think sometimes you have to step back at least a tiny bit from WAR and try to be logical. The White Sox have one of the lowest scoring teams in the AL. jose has accounted for a lot of runs. Maybe, just maybe the hate a few have for him is a bit overboard. 3rd quickest White Sox to 1,000 hits, first White Sox player with 30 doubles 6 straight seasons.2 points

He gets an A+ from me. I could care less what his WAR is.100 RBI in August. Outstanding!1 point

Yes, because many justify it by saying he makes more money than me and etc. I don't care how much money you make, you should never be exploited by your employer to be paid less. As I said, if this was you and your job I doubt you'd be as understanding. It doesn't matter what the CBA looks like - all players under the current agreement would be grandfathered in. They cannot retroactively change the rules and time left a player has before becoming a FA. MLB has, by far, the strongest union in professional sports. The mistake they made is they thought teams would want their best players on the roster - they didn't account for deliberate tanking and the suppressing of talent to elongate their control. Never trust your employer - document and define everything. That's the lesson learned.1 point
-
Yes, and I have stated numerous times that service time exploitation is a load of garbage, and fans that support it are supporting the exploitation of workers. It is against the rules but IMPOSSIBLE to prove - I'm not sure why people continually state it's not. It is very clearly against the rules as you can file a grevience against it. It's just impossible to prove when a player is "ready" because that is subjective and not universally defined.1 point
-
That's great, but I certainly would never be angry about an employee being treated more fairly than before. People have a hard time separating their entertainment from the fact that these are employees. They shouldn't be exploited regardless of how much money they make.1 point
-
I honestly cannot fathom why it would anger you that an employee is treated fairly by their employer. Can you imagine if some internet strangers got angry because your boss gave you the promotion you deserved instead of exploiting you to pay you less for another year?1 point

Yeah, and it's harder to be really productive in a bad lineup.1 point

I can co-sign this post of yours. Ideally he’s the DH but I don’t think there’s any harm in him being our 1B next year1 point

The bad decision here wasn't firing LaRussa. It was hiring Hawk as GM, a move that set the team back several years. They had let Roland Hemond go, ending an era of sorts. But instead of taking time to think about bringing a new baseball man in, they handed the job to Hawk. Like they handed the manager's job to Ventura. What's next?1 point

Those 3 things you mentioned are the top 3 worst decisions that Reinsdorf has made, #4 is not building the Camden Yards design in the South Loop, instead keeping the Sox at 35th and Shields. Just imagine the Sox playing in the South Loop in Camden Yards. Entirely different ballgame. It could have changed the entire course of the 90s and early 00s. They could have potentially had the funds to put a few of those teams over the top.1 point
-
Very much on the contrary. Letting Harry Caray go, taking the Sox off of WGN in the ‘80s and hiding them on the ill-fated SportsVision, AND designing the original “new” Comiskey Park were three terribly franchise-crippling decisions made by Reinsdorf back in the ‘80s. To even remotely suggest otherwise demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of how those decisions impacted this franchise. Meanwhile, Reinsdorf will tell you the worst decision he ever made as owner was when he allowed Hawk to fire LaRussa. Not sure that even makes the top ten of bad decisions the guy has made running this ballclub the past 40 years, but that’s what he’ll tell you.1 point

But the individual does. There is this strange sense of betrayal. The ownership reinvents stupid every day. How many times did we hear "show up and we'll make the team better"? Imagine Domino's saying eat more of our pizza and we'll make it better? It's more logical to drop this team until there is new ownership. You hope the new ownership would gut out the organization. Then again new ownership could be worse.1 point

To spin signing Gio and Moncada to extensions into something negative is quite the feat, keep up the good work!1 point
-
Because they didnt give Frank Thomas permission to report on his conversation with Hahn, and he works for the team so when he delivers messages (while being paid by them) they get to control the message. It's really a simple concept. Frank can only report on the conversations that take place on the record when he's operating as a representative of the team.1 point

That will be me if they make the beyond idiotic decision to call these guys up in the month of September. They cannot possibility be that dumb.1 point

Yet he was an All-Star. I'm assuming his WAR (yawn) was just as bad compared to others at the all star break when he got picked. I forget. We Sox fans don't applaud our guys for all star selections unless they are aged 25 or so or having a wild reclamation year like McCann. p.s. Oops I'm in a praise Jose mood today which means I better log off. I am in a mood where i could be baited to express great love of Jose!1 point

You can't have it both ways. If people want the new analytical stats, then get ALL baseball broadcasts to stop showing BA and RBI and ERA and Wins and Losses. Otherwise, Jose's stats are quite great this season. 100 RBIs at the end of August. Nice. Decent batting average for a slugger too. And lotsa home runs. As far as his defense, frankly, who cares? He's good at digging for the most part. I'd say he digs well on 8 of 10. He throws well on the 3-6-3 DP. He's bad on pop ups and lousy on shots to his left. He's OK to his right. My Jose grade for 2019 season: A. How's that for a traditional stat? A grade. I wonder what everybody else gives Jose. I bet some of the 'haters' go as low as C-.1 point
